Stitch in the ditch in design center

We have created fills in the design center before but what if we want to trace a dresden plate and stitch in the ditch. In this video I will trace out a dresden plate and add some birds and leaves as quilt designs. See the finished civil war recreated quilt. Check out my facebook page Enchanting Rosemary.

Which batting do you use? Would you recommend a low loft for this? I have problems with the double stitching where the second layer of stitching doesn’t line up directly over the first.

I use warm and natural. Sometimes the weight of the quilt pulls and it doesn’t line up. It is one of my frustrations as well. I have actually stood next to the machine holding the quilt up the whole time.

So. I bought the Stellaire at the Houston Quilt Show. Question. I want to quilt my projects like you. I bought the magnetic hoop, but i know now its not going to work. I need to use the regular hoop. Are there hooping issues with the thick quilt sandwich?

It can be difficult. If the quilt drags while embroidering it can pop the hoop open. Loosen the screw as much as you need and then tighten it up real tight. I use the small one the size of a quarter and stay close to the machine. I know it is a pain but sometimes I stand by the machine and hold the quilt up. You can do it and the results are worth it.
