British man loves beans, big surprise.
Beans foh breakfast AYE WOT
Bangers, Beans and Mash! Oy Guvna
@@jaydub5515 OI EXCALIBUR AND A PINT!
Just missing the toast lol
well theyre both gross af so it tracks
I love when innocuous little cards like this wind up doing goofy things. Like, why yes, on second thought a cantriping draw engine that synergizes with a wide variety of alternate cost cards *does* sound like it'd be pretty strong!
I was so excited a green bean ramp deck might be doing well in modern that I forgot the evoke elementals existed
What Up the Beanstalk is doing to Domain decks in lower power formats is also pretty hilarious.
I can’t believe out of all the bean jokes nobody has called it the “Flicker the bean” deck
Bean Flicker is a bit beantter imo
Well Yorion is banned in Modern so…
Trigger the glitterflitter
was thinking the same thing lol
Most men aren't familiar with this sort of lingo, and some of them it's because they're unfamiliar with what this lingo is associated with.
When I first saw up the beanstalk, It never occurred to me that fury and solitude are both 5 cmc... oooof edit leyline binding and force too? Oooooof
WhAt dOeS CmC mEaNs????? uR wOrDs mAkEs nO sEnSeS!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤨🤨🤨😌😡😂😉🤣😌😏😟😅
Legacy also gets yorion. Yorion itself triggers beans and then flickers beans for maximum beanage
The deck would have to be called “flick the bean” right?
So it sounds like these beans were worth the cow they were traded for
Alright boys we did it, FoW is now Cryptic Command. We can go home now
I loved that deck so much I went back and watched the video on The Streaming Site. If you posted a video unedited, I would be eager to watch again and label the matches.
On top of that, the Affinity deck!!!!!!!!! I want to play that one so badly!
YEEEEEEES YOU'RE POSTING THE VIDEO OF THE AFFINITY ONE YEEEEEEEEES
This is a really cool card. I like how it synergises with cost reduction and alternative costs. It's really charming and only really comes up in eternal formats when critical masses of cards form.
Hi, my name is Fury. I can have an undying trigger too! You evoke me, exiling a card, then cast a card to give me undying. Thats 3 cards :( thankfully, the whole evoke thing makes it effectively cost 1 card :D
@@crazykhespar8487 Scamming elementals is a fun rules interaction. The problem with pitch elementals is the evoke cost being 0 mana. Fury would still have a powerful effect, but it wouldn't be free.
We did it guys! We broke the MH2 Elementals!
Who could've ever seen that happening? 🤦♂️
Card idea for Modern Horizons 3:
The Onest Ring - 5 colorless.
It's the One Ring, but if you cast it from your hand, you may choose to pay 4 colorless instead.
Finally, 8ring becomes possible
A more likely idea: a pitch-cast The One Ring.
Jeskai delver occasionally goes turn 1 delver, turn 2 flip delver cast forth eorlingas X=0. The monarch clause on the backend is very worth it
Cast Yorion, flick the bean?
😍
I'll never say anything else now lol
Bean piles also fold to blood moon. So mono red prison would probably increase its metagame percentage.
I’m hoping for a blue moon revival myself!
Get destroyed by force of vigor
and draw one from up the beanstalk in the process ^^
@@feritperliare2890
Except Blood Moon isn't a pitch-cast spell, so it's unplayable.
@@jemm113 blue moon?
The fact that this card will give rise to a more pedestrian use of the phrase "flick the bean", unnerves me....
You can bet your ass if WotC actually playtested this shit Up would be a pack-pushing 40-60$ mythic.
Imagine if they had a future league
Doubt it. Not flashy enough to be a mythic.
Eh, it is a reasonable uncommon, for draft.
nah, up the beanstalk is at a perfectly reasonable power level for uncommon, it's all the mana bending bs that makes it really good, not the card itself.
@@MrPiotrV agreed.
"Whenever you cast" also avoids counterspells other then etb draw trigger
Honestly, combining bean with Lorien’s Revealed is much more exciting than drifter, imo. 5 mana draw 3-5 pretty consistently off a card that can cycle for a land in the early game has been pretty smexy
Oh wow, another deck that makes the evoke elementals better while also enforcing the idea that to be viable you need to spend half of your mortgage on the mana base
Yet another way to break Helium Squirter...
I got a bunch from a prerelease pack and threw them in some decks on a whim to test, and it turns out that even outside of Constructed it consistently draws you another 2 cards in the right deck. One card now and two cards later is good for two mana, and it's relatively safe from removal since it's already paid itself off.
Yorion flicks the bean.
Oh, please, don’t let this be a new magnamhut.
Cantriping Force of will..... sure thats fine
"Ah yes, I remember it well! Bean Flicker Summer..."
I won’t say “no” to the return of cruiser magic. :3
Could see something like this creating a rules change for discounted cards cmc on the stack.
That said it looks fun
Eorlingas is when Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger get together to toss Eeyore's salad to brighten his day. 🤫
I REALLY think the design team has their head up their ass designing way too many cards with Commander in mind and then completely forgetting that other formats also exist, and that if they make their card draw engines cheap and powerful enough, they WILL see play outside of Commander (looking at you 4 color Omnath and The One Ring)
This was probably designed with limited in mind, more so than Commander.
Up the beanstalk would be a lot less broken if there wasn't a design philosophy that allows for free casting and cost reducing spells.
"if 5 or more mana were spent to cast that spell, ..."
this clause would have been enough to fix it
Wow TY for that deck tech!
the 4/5 color decks didn't take off until the mh2 evoke elemental. THEY are the problem. Not even 4 color omnath was enough to make 4 color WORTH IT to play long term
Maybe they should print wasteland in Modern Horizons 3 🤔
love flickering the bean
Well, I saw this card and thought "Wow, this is gonna go great in my Kiora sea monsters commander deck!" xD
Beans and Bring to Light.
Omnath Locus of Creation is coming back in spirit at least lol
More like spilling the beans because you’re drawing so many cards!
Twenty years from now this will be the new rystic study
I was thinking the exact same thing when you said a Lingus
MH Incarnations: the Dragon Rulers of Magic.
Up the Beanstalk is also my favourite Carry On film.
I don't think an aggressive deck would be a solution.
Since the 4-5 color value piles will just pitch for a fury or solitude to stay alive and recoup the cards later
The One Ring is so last week. Sauron all bout dem beans now.
PK: "Fury is a completely reasonable card pre-bean"
You can't prove I said that.
@@PleasantKenobitime stamp 0.07 😅
Thanks
5 months ago, ragavan was an issue.
Now there's bowmasters.
The One ring Is an issue.
Now there's beatstalk piles.
Eternal formats are changing everyday like i do with my underwear.
Ah. Eldraine and Green cards breaking formats. Name a more iconic duo
Urza block and artifacts ?
Up the beanstalk!!
Omnath looking real good
Blood Moon is the best card ever printed in Magic, because its the only card single-handedly carrying an entire format on its shoulders. Moon is the sole reason that you don't match up against a 4+ color money pile 15 games in a row in Modern. Blood Moon is the glue holding Modern together, and you are a beneficiary of its existence even if you've never put it in a deck.
"Bean sandwich" is what I propose the name should be, no I will not explain why
Seems very good with a lot of the most broken stuff in modern, but I do wonder if its really that good in legacy when Sylvan Library exists
Instantly replaces itself, doesnt force you to pay life, stacks in a beneficial way in multiples, costs less to purchase (relevant to the metagame), draws at instant speed (assuming you cast an instant) etc... yes, much better.
This is arguably better than sylvan library, since it draws a card before getting blown up by prismatic ending
HEY. THIS FELLA PLAYIN' BEANS
It really is just the culmination of all the broken stuff being printed in the last few years, the beans just tipped them into absurdity
someone build a new version of Full English Breakfast!!!
Okay but here me out: if this causes a shift towards higher mana cost cards, I see that as a good thing rather than anything beyond turn 4 drops being barely playable.
So i get to change the name of my yorion deck to "Flick the bean"? Im all in.
This man needs toast food tokens for his beans
Surprised that you aren't running any of the "March of" cards, like March of Otherworldy Light
Please consider lowering the volume of the music to 1/3 the current volume, it's loud enough to complete with your voice.
edit: okay maybe it's just loud during the Cool Stuff Inc part.
Yorion allows you to flick the bean multiple times
I saw Beanstalk + Solitude/Binding in action last friday. Scary, but I feel like it still needs a specific kind of deck to do its thing, especially a green based deck. And the game at least looks like it is still a game.
The One Ring on the other hand shows up everywhere and stops the game from being a game.
Should I invest in some beanstalks now that’s the question
Wow. It's almost like having such insanely strong evoke elementals has broken countless cards and completely warped the format out of shape....
exactly.
Well, you got me to order another huge and expensive load of cards again.
New format idea. 'THE COUNT'
60 card. Up to 5 of each card allowed including basics. NO COMMANDER. You can only play cards that reference the word 'commander' in the rules text of the card wether it be an ability that doesn't work (seeing as you don't have a commander), reminder text, or the ability refers to the name of the card and it has commander in it. Also you can play any land from throughout magic.
Banned cards Dark Depths and You're in Command (test card).
That sounds terrible and uninspired. It sounds like a format trying to prove some silly opinion (Commander is somehow making the game worse, I guess), rather than trying to be fun or interesting.
Not counting lands and the test card "You're in Command", there are 230 cards that meet the given criteria. Out of those, only 8 don't have it in reference to the commander format, most of which have it in their name which is said in the rules text (Royal Warden has it as a flavor word for an ability). Additionally, out of those 230 cards there are 37 that won't do anything other than sit on the board as an artifact or enchantment, or resolve without doing anything (backgrounds plus 8 other cards; could be a couple more depending on whether you count discarding your hand for no benefit or just being an equipment with no bonus as not doing anything).
Granted it be a format for people who are not into commander and are tired of all the suped-up other formats.
But I really think you're neglecting the over 900 utility lands in the game. Not counting the ixalan flip lands, but not discounting the mdfc lands.
@@michaelnovak3417 That's the thing though, lands would likely be the focus of the format, since the number of available lands is almost four times the number of available spells (disregarding playability of those spells and lands, which would still make it around equal amounts at least). You may as well just make a format that only consists of lands, which would be a much more interesting premise, and provide a clear idea for what may eventually be considered too strong. Like, Dark Depths is super slow, but Cloudpost, Tron lands, and Sol lands, make it super easy to pay the cost.
You can dislike Commander all you want, but making a format with the premise of using cards that don't work well outside of it isn't interesting. Formats built on being the antithesis of other formats rarely last long, if at all, since they don't offer anything other than disdain for a well-established format.
I’m just excited for this card for commander lol
8:32 so it flickers the bean?
Easy answer, print Wasteland into Modern!
Up The Beanstalk = the green The One Ring
I'm just here for beans.
UP YOUR BEANSTALK might be a funny deck name
Or even, "Carry on Up your Beanstalk"
If mulldrifter would get a standard reprint. I'd love to play elementals in pioneer...
These type of hidden gems are why you keep your "bulk" ladys and germs!😂
This in selvala brostorm!
So with yorrion you are flicking the bean?
Tangled colony was also printed in this set. Jund Dragonball Bees anyone?
The evoke elementals were never reasonable. Everything printed after War of the Spark isnt reasonable.
i;m thinking about thos beans
Modern needs Price of Progress
Deck list please!
Wait, what? You called the evoke elementals "completely reasonable". Slip of the tongue, right?
My time has come
We need better blood moons
Beanscam might be a thing in modern
Modern needs Price of Progress/Back to Basics SO BADLY.
Back to Basics yes, Price of Progress no.
@@JohnFromAccounting I want to dome 4c players for 20 using 4 mana. They should sweat for every triome fetched.
Collecto boosties!?!?!?! I think i want some chickie nuggies more....😂
Sooooo ponza is halfway playable again?
i sincerely hope fetches get banned. i like the idea of what kenobi likes about them- yes, the potential to shuffle your library essentially at will and to replay them from the graveyard is fun- but in practice, their also being generally the best option for duals doesn't make their more fun uses feel "earned" since you were just going to put them in your deck either way because they're.... the best.
I also think fetch+shock does way too good a job to enable 3+ color piles but that's a whole other can of worms.
Go play pioneer then.
The new fatal push
Hey. who doesn't like flicking the bean, am I right?
Time to bring back Blood Moon
Also, G/r Tron?
Green now draw even more
later in time, green will reanimate, make discard, burn, gain life, bounce stuff, gives -N/-N even in form of counters), makes wheels and sacrifice stuff for value (like some green cards already do)
can't wait to see a flashy card with "when this cards enters the battlefield and whenever you cast a spell without paying any mana, your opponet(s) discard a card"
Sounds like a non-medical diagnosis... not a card. "Needed an enima... right up the beanstock."
Can we name one of archetypes "flick the bean"?
Beanstalk breaks a bunch of decks..
Better ban wrenn & six .
Lol
Why doea everyone do that?
Time to bring wasteland to modern
get them beeeeans bro
Does this mean full English breakfast is back on the menu
