In 2005 they were challenged to the final immediately because they were the top 12 of 2004. In 2006 they were in the final because they were the host nation and in 2007 they were in the final because they were a member of the top 10 of 2006.
@@msaone Yes it's true, but staging was a result from the hostages (Portuguese). Also the Ukrainian winner #Jamala had a poor staging and definitely Portugal had a much poorer staging but won.
@@akispapos5503 Jamala had amazing staging wtf. She easily managed to generate the power and emotion of her song which helped her win. Portugal's song was not meant to be epic. It was already perfect when it was quiet and soothing, so they didn't need any staging (plus him standing on that little stage in the middle of the audience and sea of flags is already great staging). Greece's song was amazing but it needed to generate an epic effect, which it didn't because her staging was really lacklustre.
@@akispapos5503 Oniro mou was good, but everyone brought their A game in SF 1 (bloodiest sf in history me thinks), so she kinda flopped with that flat staging. Also, what the hell?! Jamala's staging was the second best that year! Literally 1944=Tree! +++ Salvador didn't need the staging because the song stood out on its own.
well in the early years there was just one semifinal. the countries that were in the top 10 in the final they would qualify to the final for the next year. that's what happened here. in 2005 we won so we qualified for the next year's final. in 2006 we came in 9th place and in 2007 in 7th place. also in 2016 and 2018 we didn't qualify to the final.
That fact that 2017 is here and not 2018 is a scourge upon my existence.
2018 was destroyed by the staging. What was that. Miserable. Amazing song!
2019 is the next qualification in this list
I hope so ☺

So they had a grand final streak from 2004 until 2016 when Argo ruined it
Nice
We would’ve been up there with Ukraine with our qualification streak but it was ruined lol it’s fine

Not in 2018
Also in 2016, with Utopian's land
2018 a massive crime from eurovision. "Oniro mou" was too much for this funny and politically guided party.
It was a good song but the staging was utterly underwhelming...

Nope. Greece didn't need to qualify in 2005, 2006 and 2007, so they aren't shown here.
