Reading the Mont Blanc web page, the yellow is in reference one of the colours associated to Modena, plus yellow is the main colour on the Ferrari emblem with the black prancing horse on it and the top of the cap is a ferrari car grill incorporated the Mont Blanc emblem, i think.
Nice pen. Not a big fan of the 'tribute' pens but I like this one. Had a Girard Perrigeaux Ferrari watch many years ago and it was a beautiful thing. An MB in anything but black is always nice too
Nice review. I was actually surprised at the price. I thought it would have been more expensive. 🙃 I like some of the lines and the colour. That’s about it for me.
Truly a nice pen. Sheaffer had done a line of Ferrari pens years ago. They had the prancing horse emblem attached to the clip. I remember that permission had to be given by Ferrari to use the color. I think it is copyrighted. So is UPS Brown. The yellow is part of the emblem for Ferrari. I do not know the reason it signifies Moderna. Perhaps that is where the factory for Ferrari is located. Nice pen. Price is high. If you want a pen for Ferrari, find the Sheaffer version. It should be about 20X less expensive.
I gave one of those Sheaffer Ferrari fountain pens to a nephew (he is a big fan). It was yellow. I have the same pen in silver colour but no Ferrari adornments. Very good writer. BTW I got them at 75 x less than the Mont Blanc!
@@paulmchugh1430 yep that's the one! The silver coloured version is fluted (or should that be grooved). I cannot remember what the Ferrari version was like but I think they were smooth and the paint job made them tactile. Interestingly I have always preferred the Ferrari yellow. Mind you, I doubt I could afford the paint much less one of the the cars!
Mr Brown's review of the Montblanc Ferrari fountain pen is from the point of view of a f. pen user not a Ferrari vehicle owner. Most people admire a Ferrari but will never own one.
Thanks for the review, interesting! Although I am not a fan of Ferrari, but I am a fan of your reviews 🙂 Now you made me curious why this yellow color is related to Modena and Ferrari; I searched for it and found the following: "The one-off livery features a splash of yellow to pay homage to Modena, the hometown of the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari. Yellow is one of the colours of Modena's coat of arms and is also the reason for the yellow background on Ferrari's famous prancing horse logo." (livery stands for lacquer) Side note: Interestingly - just to test out this ChatGPT which everyone is talking about - could not find the answer 🤭 I do not own a new Montblanc, I just have 2 cheap vintage ones with those gold wing nibs, which are really soft (you did review one of those some years back, I think it was the MB No.22) and I like those, although they are that smooth that I am even missing a tiny bit of feedback. I couldn't justify getting a new MB for those prices yet, I didn't also see a model that would convince me 100%. The only thing that made me curious was there flex nib, but as it is that hard to get it turns me off again. That is just my opinion. Anyway, thank you for making your reviews! Your videos with your sense of humour as well as your knowledge in combination with coming to the point, statements thought well-through - this is unique still up to today and really your videos got me interested in fountain pens. And after all these years and other youtubers reviewing fountain pens, you have been and are still the No. 1 for me - "oft kopiert, nie erreicht" as they say here in Germany (~ copied often, but never achieved). If there should be ever be a book about Fountain pen Review History, you should be in there as a huge milestone. Lots of greetings from Germany! 👋
Montblanc gave Ferrari a free reign on designing this to a large extent as I understand it. I dont like it, but then again, I dont usually care for any of the pen-car collaborations
Acquired a Sheaffer 300 Ferrari rollerball with the prancing horse with a yellow fenial, marking Schumacher's final year in F1 & Ferrari. Still remains my grail pen, as it was a display pen, not sold in stores. The clerk sold it as clearance by mistake. The retail pen is sold with a white fenial.
This pen is full of history and the history must be studied before talking about it otherwise is a MB with a classic gold nib and the review can be considered similar to a Moonman review. . For instance, the meaning of the horse…. That’s the most important part of E.Ferrari’s life together with the anectdote related to the purple ink. Sorry, but you missed the point.
Shouldn't the point of a pen review be the review of the pen rather than the history of anything else (which everybody can look up)? If I want to know about Ferrari's life I will look up for a video about this topic. If a pen review comes with 20 minutes about history of e.g. Ferrari and 5 minutes about the pen, this would have missed the point.
@@draganaj6752 naaaaaaa, don’t be too narrow please. This is a pen created and shaped with history in mind of course. Following your statement this guy should review only the nib since all MB special editions would be equal each other. This MB is made by history references and is fitted whit the common nib mounted on the brand pens since 1990, so nothing new in this element. Ok, we can continue watching reviews plenty of “smooth”, “feedback”, “scratchy”…. No added value and the boring meaningless sentence on a paper. There’s nothing in this review and Mr.Sbrebrown shows no desire to do something really useful (at least for the potential customer) . It would be better for him to review Moonman, Asvine, Jinhao and Co… these are pens, and also good writers and don’t require effort before recording (in truth they don’t require a review at all).
@@FPS_Fountain_Pen_Society I see your point to some extent, we do have different expectations here. Sure I want to hear mostly about the nib in a fountain pen review, but also the other parts are covered here. What I do not need is an in-depth dive into the history background, as mentioned before, I would look this up separately if I am interested into it. Those are facts which I can obtain from other sources; what I expect from a fountain pen review is the opinion from the reviewer about the pen (again, not only nib but also other aspects of the pen like is it comfortable to hold for example). Well, as there are plenty of reviewers everyone can choose as per their taste luckily.

Could you review the new Dolce Vita by Delta? Thank you.
Modena (stress on the first syllable) has en emblem and a flag which are blue and yellow-gold. Just saying... 🙂
You are correct - Enzo added the yellow backing to Baracca's horse as an homage to the city.
