Amid homeless crisis, stretch of LA County has become an RV wasteland

At 52 years old I’ve learned one universal truth…. Homelessness is not getting better & it never will.
It’s a business now. All this money being thrown at it yet it only worsens.
I was in Indonesia and I saw homeless. Third worldism has finally come to USA.
When you reward people for an activity, you get more of it, regardless of the claims of hoping to reduce it.
@@currentbatches6205I'm sure those high Cali taxes, rent and prices have a lot to do with it...
Yeah just like Ukraine
the world is a racket
Everybody in California are complaining of this intolerable situation. And yet, they kept electing the same ineffective people.
VOTES ARE RIGGED
thats why you should support Nalezor-Roloism, my friend.
The elections are rigged...
Forgive this long post. But it's not 100% blame on so-called ineffective politicians. The homeless problem is due in part to some of the homeless people themselves. I know that sounds harsh to some people reading this, but it's true. There are some homeless people who choose not to go to work, choose not to be responsible for getting up and following some employer's rules, not wanting to file taxes once a year, etc. They don't want that responsibility. And since California has weather that's accommodating to living outside, or living in an RV, they'd rather do that. There are some people who are experiencing homelessness but not by their choosing. Those are the people who need assistance. But there are some people who are homeless because of their choosing and/or their choices in life, such as refusing to work, or doing drugs. You can't make a person be a contributing and responsible person in society, no matter how many programs are out there for assistance. Like the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you CAN'T MAKE him drink. So no matter how many programs are out there, if a large percentage of the homeless don't want to take advantage of those programs, because they like their "freedom", there's not much anyone can do about it. They have to want to change. Some homeless want to, some do not. And there's another aspect to this: Why do you and I have to get up and go to work many days out of the week to pay for our housing costs; we have to pay our utility bills or we have no power or water; we have to file our taxes once a year or we're in trouble with fines or prison time, but homeless people get free housing, free utilities, no taxes to worry about, and free food - but we're all human??? Why do some human beings (the current homeless) get all that for free while other human beings, like you and I, have to work and pay for it, or get in trouble if we're not doing taxes - but we're all human beings. Because we didn't make the same bad decisions in our lives, or we didn't thumb our nose at society. So we get punished by having to pay for THE EXACT SAME THINGS that they get for free. Plus we get to hear alarm buzzers going off in our ears all the time waking us up for work. As far as jobs, there are plenty of jobs out there. Somebody, somewhere, is always hiring. A homeless person could start by getting a job at a fast food restaurant working 8 hours a day, five days a week. Then get a studio apartment. Their home may not be in the most luxurious areas of town, but it still beats living in a crappy area inside an RV, with feces, urine, and trash lying all around on the sidewalks. And if someone is homeless because the Los Angeles area is too expensive to live in, then move somewhere else. This is a big country. There are plenty of less expensive areas to live in. Move to an entirely different city where they can work at a fast food restaurant, perhaps changing jobs somewhere down the line, and with that fast food pay check, get a studio, 1 bedroom, or perhaps 2 bedroom apartment in a decent area. If you can't afford to live in a particular city, you don't stay there and become homeless; that doesn't even make any sense. You go where you can afford it. There are countless cities that have 1 bedroom apartments going for $600 or $700 a month, not $1800 or $2000 like L.A. And those other cities' studio apartments are even less money. Just because you came out of the womb in a particular city doesn't mean you're required to stay there. People don't even know where they're at when they're born, so you're not required to stay somewhere just because you came out of the womb there. Doesn't moving to a less expensive area beat being homeless??? You'll set up roots in your new location, wherever it is. Unless you want that "freedom" I mentioned earlier. So California's homeless problem is not just on politicians. Granted, some politicians do better than others. But some of the homeless play a part in this homeless problem too.
That politician is getting a kick back from the gangs running the RV rents.
not how it works, but they are getting rich regardless. why solve he problem if they problem keeps generating votes an money your way? the problem won't go away until criminals literally start killing democrats. i really don't see any other way.

@@andrebailey6676 Right.
Its funny that peoples cars get towed for parking at a fire hydrant or for a couple of unpaid parking tickets, but these RV's get a pass. Also, since when does the city have to notify an owner that their vehicle will be towed.
The fact that homeless RVs are not towed shows it's all deliberate.
I was thinking the same thing. Vehicles get towed all the time everywhere, and owners are not notified before their vehicles are towed. Cities tend not to have laws that owners must be notified before towing their vehicle. But this is unincorporated land, and it is part of no surrounding city. So if Los Angeles County has a law that owners must be notified before towing their vehicle, then the elected county officials need to change that law. Allow vehicles to be towed if they have not been moved in more than two weeks. And owners do not need to be notified. The owners will reach out if they want their vehicles back.
I'm sick of hearing these council members and "supervisors" lame excuses. This has been going on too long to believe your lies. Rest assured if this was happening outside your residence this cleanup would have happened a long time ago. Take action now!

They said between the cities of Gardena and Compton, and on Compton Blvd, they didn't say in the city of Compton. That person was referring to the fact that this area belongs to no city whatsoever. It's unincorporated. That's not Compton land area.
Getting to the point where I think local residents need to take things into their own hands.
I agree, them in the RV's should do that, and move in with selfish homeowners and renters who won't share.
So what do you have in mind?

I just drove through this RV ALLEY a few nights ago and it is like something out of a horror movie. Why it is being allowed to proliferate is unfathomable, and there are similar RV encampments like this throughout Los Angeles.
I was homeless here by LAX in 85-86, you wouldn't dream of setting up a tent on a sidewalk. Somewhere along the lines they let a few do it & now you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube!
People are poor that’s why
Because humans are mentally insane and are indoctrinated in to a fiat system of hoarding the most. Mostly the Chinese who are buying it all up.
mostly accurate, but those apartments are empty not because of investors, but because the state extortion fees have priced everyone out from owning, and no one wants to rent because the state is anti landlords. also, all land will be bought out by foreign entities with inflated resale prices.
People in Palo Alto are living in tiny houses that’s how you know it’s bad
The prices go up due to supply and demand in California cannot build enough housing due to all unrealistic regulations the government has imposed it makes it almost impossible to do new building
I've been watching the housing market as I want to buy one. I can afford a lot of them but they aren't worth those ridiculous prices, so I'm waiting. Lots of other people, like me are also waiting. Many people who own these houses are waiting because they want to sell for as high as possible(understandable) but it's a waiting game to see who cracks first and it won't be the buyers, it will be the sellers because they are losing money paying for repairs on those houses as well as property taxes. The market is about to crash in the favor of buyers... Air bnbs are also failing. I'm waiting for the air bnb stock market to crash. The housing market has just gotten too greedy. Air bnb deserves to be set on fire and burned down... Can't wait for it to crash... I've met many air bnb owners... They just wanna keep their extra houses they don't even use and it's just greedy in my opinion. Who needs three or more houses? Even two is unnecessary... Anyways, just wait. The end is near.

@@viniciusdg8899 yet the homes go for almost a mil, they fight, over bid for this trash.
Ohh I feel so bad that they VOTED for the officials that are allowing this! 😂
Red states are sending their problems to Blue states. No one voted for it.
they should stop crying, they voted for this
This is happening everywhere with rising housing cost
It had nothing to do with our vote. Executive Directors of various homeless service agency delibrately made problem worse like removing anti camping laws & not allowing LAPD remove these RVs.
Exactly,
they keep voting in the same politicans that don't care.
Los Angeles, Venezuela 😂
Congresswoman Waters represents parts of Los Angeles including the communities of Westchester and Playa Del Rey, the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County comprised of Lennox, West Athens, West Carson, Harbor Gateway, El Camino Village, and Watts. The 43rd District also includes the diverse cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita and Torrance.
I'm homeless 😔
"im homeless" usually means you like meth or fentanyl. i could tell you are a user with one look in person. not saying you are a user but 99.99% of them are, i would know as my parents were the ones selling said meth to feed their own habit.
Yeah, but peoples gender identity way more than important than actual people
Where are they getting these rv from
Van life!!! Cool
I know how to fix the homeless problem in america i really do.
nobody comes to me for the answers though…
HEAR ME OUT
USA need to cough up about 100 billion dollars which is totally reasonable.
With the money they start a community on a nearby island to the USA. There are a bunch of islands in alaska, a couple near los angeles and a few more possible options spread out along the USA coasts.
All homeless people that wish to continue to do drugs, have the option to move to drug island, where they are free to do any drugs and also seek medical attention and help.
Staff on the island will live in a heavily armed and gated community an there will be no weapons permitted on the island.
We could start forcing the craziest homeless onto the island first, we can give them a pamphlet with pictures of palm trees and beaches, make it sound like a vacation.
can't tow it without notifying the owner? vehicles get towed all the time without informing the owner
This really grinds my gears. She shows no empathy and is shifting blame for the issue. You should be ashamed. HELP these people! There are so many areas around LA that you could designate for these RVs to park, and you absolutely have the money to provide resourses like trash removal and sanitation. You rather pay to tow them away and haul their belongings to land fills??? Further turn their lives upside down??? The RV might be run down, but at least there is a roof over that person's head. Incentivise the RV owners to keep them in at least usable condition. Hell...find an open space and add 1000 more RVs to get 1000 more men, women and CHILDREN out of the elements. Get recovery programs involved to provide resourses and, at the very least, clean needles and disposal containers. Some of these same unhoused men and women I am sure would love to be paid a survival wage to be a part of sanitation, outreach and safety teams. Stop thinking with your asses! And stop pocketing our tax dollars!!!
Why should she be responsible for other people's problems?

Viewed one on sepulveda Blvd, in left turn lane, fully in flames. Pretty much just melted with mostly neoprene composite. Only aspect remaking was charred chassis.
That chassis would make good support beams, for a tiny home
Coming to your neighborhood soon if this RV trash isn't pushed out. Thank you local and state governments, and the courts for prioritizing vagrant rights over working people and their children.
