    I have been looking for someone using that specific colorway of Noro yarn for MONTHS now, and now I'm definitely convinced because your sweater looks beautiful!!

    That is a great thought process on swatch. I rarely swatch for all of the reasons you listed, but I like they thought of it as a promise to myself to make the item. Thank you for sharing that!

    I’d love a video with common knitting jargon explained. There are so many terms!

    Merino wool is apparently moisture wicking, and a lot of people recommend it for summer, at least when you’re not in the middle of the heat like I’m having right now. I’m about to test that theory.
    My biggest tip is picking size, particularly if there is a huge difference between your upper bust and full bust. I was having an issue with garments being too big at the shoulders and yokes being way too deep. Then, someone told me I could add increases after splitting for sleeves to get a better fit. Just start out knitting the size for my upper bust and do that for the yoke. Total game changer, and now I’m learning bust darts.

      i heard merino is better for dry heat and not good for humid heat but idk

      I've worn merino out in humid heat and so far it's okay but I do stay indoors a lot too hahaha

    I feel validated! Started knitting in Feb and heavily invested in animal fibers because I am specific with what I want. Not a fan of oversized fits either so I usually size down/shorten length if there’s too much positive ease. And I’ve decided to only make vests (have to modify all sweater patterns in my library) because I don’t have that much patience and somehow always get too little yarn! I can always sew sweaters with knit fabrics haha.

    One of the biggest revelations for me was that I can still make things in my body size and make adjustments for my bust. I'm a size small without my bust which means that if I make garments based on my bust size, they're too big.

      It's amazing skill to have to know how to modify patterns to suit you ❤

      How do you modify the patterns for your bust.I struggle a lot with trying to knit bust area because it always ends up being too small

    I think 5'4" is tall also. 😂 Taking your time while crafting is so important. I have to constantly remind myself of that.

    Make sure you can wear the fiber you use. I crochet my first ever sweater with a very fun yarn that was acrylic..... I run hot and sweat So much in it. I can't wear it and it just sits sadly in my closet. If I ever crochet or knit another sweater it will be in wool.

      Good to know! I think my first piece was a 100% acrylic sweater and I ever rarely wear it out unfortunately but we all start somewhere!

    I'm watching you knit and really can not figure out how you're knitting. Please show what technique this is. I'm genuinely curious 🤔. Thanks for these tips. I'm a new knitter started this past January, and it's coming along great. The yarn thing is absolutely important. I went out and spent $800 on yarn. I had no idea what I was doing, lol . I'm still about touch but mindfully buy when I know what I want to make. 😊

      Looks like continental with the yarn held a bit unusually between two fingers and not wound around the pointer.

    • @TheHarryKnit
      @TheHarryKnit  Місяць тому +2

      That's how I knit! I learned to knit by myself and found it easier to hold between fingers than wrapping around

      @@TheHarryKnit The fun starts once we try to re-train ourselves to knit in a different way, e.g. to do colourwork. It is SO hard!
