That Leo looks like someone just threw it together last minute just so the wave has 4 figures
Unfortunately, that might be the case if they are riding the bankruptcy line and need cash immediately. Does anyone know if their website charges immediately or when the figures actually release?
I have a theory. The Rat was originally a part of Wave 10, but was pulled back and replaced with Karai. I think Karai was intended for Wave 11 so they had to fill that slot somehow, and thus we get this Leo. I could be completely wrong about that.

@@mstrider80bankruptcy? Why do people keep saying this? They’re not going bankrupt. The 2003 line is coming out next. Retailers overstocked and that’s why those figures are on sale. That’s the only reason.
I gotta say that I love this wave. I've been wanting a damaged Foot Soldier ever since they released a ReAction version, and the Rat King is a big improvement. Also, two Turtles in one wave?? I think the Leo looks great. Wave 8 was a big improvement QC-wise, no loose joints or anything. I hope this line keeps going!
@SuperPatQuest I didn't even think about how weird the 2 turtles were until I started reading your comments but it's definitely not something they've done before.
I'm very excited everyone seems to be praising wave 8 top to bottom which is awesome. I def hope it keeps going as well even if I only cherry pick there's still some figures I really want.
I feel the same way you do. Super7 now believes the fans want concept figures. Neca is also dabbing into concept figures…. There’s way too much product out there and it all cost a lot of money. Concept figures are an easy pass. These companies now think we’ll just buy everything and anything. No no no. I’m starting to save money now. Buying less…. Panda Khan rules! 🍻
Super7 has and always will do concept figures. That's why they are fun
@WedeSkates707 the thing is I just don't understand where they even got that idea. Before wave 10 was announced, I don't remember anyone clamoring for them to move away from the Playmates aesthetic, that's what the line was.
I think you're right with companies thinking they can do anything TMNT and it will move. There are people out there that have the sickness so bad they will just buy anything TMNT. But like you said, there's too much for me to collect at this point and if it's not a home run for me it's an easy pass at this point.
Just received my wave 8 and gotta say that all of them are awesome even the Shredder looks amazing with the metalic silver but the winner for me is the Robot Rocksteady. That along with them listening to the fans and giving us the RatKing we want gave more confidence to keep going with line. I hope playmates just let's them give us the vintage toy look figs. Are you picking up any of the wave 8 figs yourself
@robledoeugene1975 I'm holding off a bit on Wave 8 but I am pretty excited everyone seems to be praising this wave which is awesome to see. I'm def going in on Raph, Genghis, and Rocksteady.
Couldn't be happier they pulled back and gave us the Rat King we wanted. Good on S7 for that.

Super 7 has kind of just changed their mind on what they want this line to be halfway through. The Playmates figures only make up about half of what we get now. I will definitely only be getting Rat King and Mike from this wave. I thought by this point we'd get characters like Traag, Fugitoid, Napoleon, and characters from Playmates waves 4, 5, and 6. But we haven't gotten any of that.
It almost feels like they're biding their time with those characters until they can figure out the Playmates legality thing? Like they're stalling, and scarping together characters to fill slots in the meantime. That, or their budget is lower than before, so they can make two unique characters each wave but have to reuse parts for the other two slots. Hard to say! Some people say the Playmates thing isn't an issue and Super7 is making this decision themselves, but since they won't say one way or another we just have to speculate. I just really want Ground Chuck, Pizza Face, Wyrm, Chrome Dome, etc...
@@AutomaTom1939 Yeah, I've heard it isn't a legality thing too. If these are just the decisions Super 7 is making out of their own free will, I seriously don't understand it.
@brendansrambles9464 I think we'll be lucky to see half the wave look like Playmates going forward. Rat King was originally supposed to be wave 10 so imagine if Karai was in this wave. Rappin' Mike would be the only Playmates style figure. And now they're throwing 2003 in the mix.
So many staple characters left and we'll be lucky to get 1 per wave going forward so that's 2 characters per year at best.
@@noyougrowup69 Yeah, that's pretty terrible when you really put it in perspective. Such a shame. It will basically be five years from now before we start seeing crazy characters like Groundchuck and Dirtbag show up, if the line even still exists by then. They very well could be on their last limb, honestly. Some of these announced figures might never even release.
I'm definitely for nostalgia, however if there's a cool figure like ninja April. I don't have a problem with it. Thing about companies is you don't know what will or won't work, until you try something new. Speaking of samurai Michaelangelo, i don't like that Michaelangelo is the Samurai. Don is space adventure. They probably changed them bc playmates and S7 have their samurai Leonardo and space adventure Raphael. I think Neca should just have all four as Samurai turtles. If they did, I'd get the Samurai Michaelangelo. It just seems odd to not have the obvious choice as the Samurai.
@patrickmcgavin2245 the space adventure Don and samurai Mike sets are the only ones I've ever passed on with the toon line. They just don't do anything for me. They look good, but I'm here for a very specific reason and "what if" characters aren't it. I might be in the minority at this point, but I'd rather have C-D list characters than turtles that weren't in the show.

Yeah, this wave is definitely an improvement over wave 10, but something just feels different now. Like it's just fundamentally not the same line anymore. Even characters that are based on the Playmates designs have little changes and tweaks that somehow feel like they were made as a technicality (legal distinction?) of some kind. It's weird. I can't quite verbalize how the feel has changed--overall it kinda feels like Futurama on Fox vs Futurama on Comedy Central. :)
I think the "slot filler" reuse characters probably have a lot to do with it, too. Leo is cool, but just feels kinda half-baked, and this Mirage-based direction is another deviation that just contributes to this feeling of a loss of direction or focus. But all that said, Rat King looks freakin' awesome! And even though Rappin' Mike has changes and tweaks that seem arbitrary, he looks great, too! Half this wave feels like the line in its prime. I guess that means 2003 TMNT are on deck for the next wave. It's odd, but I'll keep sticking around for now to see where the line goes!
@AutomaTom1939 so think about if Rat King stayed in Wave 10 and Karai was in this wave. Wave 11 would have almost no resemblance to the Playmates line outside of the Mikey and like you mentioned, him and Rocker Leo seem to be slightly further from the Playmates figures than normal.
I def know what you mean that the line doesn't really seem to have an identity anymore. It's just kind of all over the place now. I think wave 9 will be the last great wave.

The only figure from this wave that I have any interest in is the Rat King. I couldn't care less about the other three. I completely agree with you on the Kenner aesthetic. It's the #1 reason I even started collecting this line.

@butchersblade7068 I'm pretty much just going after the Playmates style mainline figures and turtle sub-line figures. Glad they did fix that Rat King though this would easily be the weakest wave without him, if it's not already the weakest.
I have liked just about every figure in the line, and there have been some truly outstanding ones. Slash is figure of the year for 2023 for me. The problem with both Waves 10 and 11 is that they clearly cheaped out. There are no big figures, there's a lot of reuse, and half the figures in both waves are not Playmates updates, which is the whole point of the line. I actually think the ninja April is cool and might get her, but she's not needed. I think we need to see what happens when Wave 7 finally releases. That wave has figures that, if they turn out like the renders, might be enough to generate renewed interest from everyone. They still need to do better planning future figures though.
@benjaminwiseman6567 I know bigger figures don't necessarily mean better, but all of the ones from this line have typically been the best figures in each wave. Wave7 has 3 big dogs in it and they did show new prototypes at comic con or toy fair or something and they did look pretty damn good.
Unfortunately, with them starting to throw in 2003 stuff going forward, I don't see the character choices ever being as good as they once were.
Anyone know if Super 7, Neca, or Mirage has any plans to redo the "Night Watcher" Raphael from the 2000's Movie? I know a lot of ppl don't care for that film, but I love the armor. I think he would be great teaming up with The Last Ronin.
@dubuyajay9964 I would guess that the best bet for that is going to be the BST AXN line. They seem to be going after a lot of the stuff the NECA and Super7 aren't doing.

I am going to have to agree with you man. I am interested in the Rat King now that they fixed him, sort of, and I will happily get a few of the battle damaged foot soldiers, but, when they are $20 as well. Wave 10 I only really want the girls, because I never cared for the regular April O'Neil, I like the ninja themed version. Karai is kind of an odd duck in these waves, but she does look great, and there's not but the 2 females, so I may as well have them both represented.
...honestly, Wave 4 is the only wave I have all of them from. All other waves are 50%, rarely 75.
I would sure hope they could sort out their shortcomings as of late, there are still half a dozen characters I'd really like to get ahold of, that they've made no mention of making.
I have 4 figures to go, and my collection will be where I want it to be. But one of those is Triceraton...

@3Y3ECE wave 4 is my second favorite wave they've shown (favorite that's been released so far) every figure is great, not a single weak link on that one. The original April is probably my least favorite figure by a long shot but I just couldn't not have her to complete the OG 10 figs.
One day, we will get those Triceratons... He's my #1 fig from that wave for sure it will be so sweet to finally get him after 4 years haha.
I want to see you review the MEZCO TMNT set, I feel like they will be the "end all be all" best tmnt figures, and if you miss out people will regret when they double if not triple in 5-10 years
@hovseph818 I will definitely talk about them when I get them. For what we're paying, they better be the best TMNT figs of all time. I'm curious to when they are going to put the Casey up for preorder.
The epic failure of that first Rat King was the final nail in the coffin for Super7 for me. I’m out and I can’t see ever getting back in. Even with this Rat King, I feel it’s too little too late.
When that first Rat King was announced, you said something to the effect of Super7 playing the long game and it bit us. The lazy character selection of Wave 11 is further proof that we will most likely never see Tragg, Panda Khan, or Usagi Yojimbo.
Even if they announced those figures tomorrow, who would want to pay full retail price for them?
@joshmv I could see Traag at some point but Usagi and Panda Khan have the double license and I can't see S7 dipping into their profits to do that. Now that they're going to start with the 2003 figures, who knows what this line will look like down the road. I'll just keep cherry picking going forward.
And to answer your question, I'll never even buy S7 when it comes out again. I'm waiting a bit on wave 8. EE already had them buy one get one half off but Genghis is already gone so I'll hold off. This latest sale on BBTS has been insane and I don't see much changing for Ulitimates going forward.
I'll be honest. Wave 11 has nothing for me. I never liked the Rat King. So far not since Wave 4 have I been down to get an entire wave of Ultimates figures. But for those who wanted these figures, I am happy for them
@MatthewWheeler1980 yeah Rat King is without a doubt the star of the wave so if you're not into him I can definitely see this being the weakest wave for you. Someone else mentioned wave 4 being their only all in wave and it's def the best wave that's been released so far.

i'm 100% checked out on the line. And as nice as the renders are, I think we're at that point to know better than to trust S7's advertised renders. If Rat King ends up on clearance, I may pick him up. Otherwise, I feel like this line is absolutely cooked. I don't mind "original" takes on TMNT, but that's not what this line was about. The entire premise, the whole SELLING POINT of this line was to produce updated interpretations of the original Playmates TMNT line. To transition suddenly and without reason into whatever this is supposed to be feels like a cop out on their part and an attempt at milking a license that is already hyper saturated at this point in the marketplace. The only thing that made S7 standout from the rest of the competition was the Playmates angle. Without it, it feels rudderless and completely pointless. It also doesn't help that they're so far behind on delivering past waves. Like realistically, when would anyone who preorders these even get them in-hand? Two years? Five years? I get production delays are part of the game, but S7 sometimes acts as if the day-to-day problems most mid-sized toy companies like them face are somehow devastating for them. And yet companies like NECA seem to manage just fine. Stuff just doesn't add up.
@mortcrimpjr that's why I stopped preordering S7 and I've started to wait to see how figures are received before I go in on them. TMNT renders have been pretty close to the final product but other IP's not as much.
The transition from Playmates to their more original stuff is definitely disappointing. It's taken me from being all in to cherry picking. If I want original stuff, there's way better companies doing it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it just seems like the company isn't managed well and they do seem to have more issues than every other company combined.
We see them going for what they are actually worth.......

Stupid-sexy-Rat-king got me laughing every time. Wonderful work. i’ve crapped all over brian flynn on youtube comments sections, so, i’ll leave it. Like a lot of the recent waves, this is a 3/4.
@ADAM_CAMMA haha I wish I could take credit for that term, it works so perfectly. He's definitely a guy you have to take with a grain of salt. I'm happy for him to show off figures, but it's hard to trust anything he says.
At least that Trash-Can-head Leo is something different, a design completely by Super7. Not saying it's the best ever, but it's different and not based off anything pLaYmAtEs. I see you're almost up to 2k subs. Keep it up yo.

@sorryalligator dude that would be a huge bummer... the mouser set is the only Ultimates thing I don't have (other than wave 8) and I didn't know they were just stickers on the battle damaged ones.
And their character choices continue to boggle my mind.
I'm convinced Playmates put the kibosh on oldschool figures like the rumor before w10 this wave just really hammers it home
I felt the same. But then we got rappin mikey…. So who knows. Maybe it’s based on if playmates is releasing theirs?
@darthprime4916 I think because he's a variant and not 100% 1 to 1 they didn't fuss as much like how Leo was tweaked but I think it affects non variants like Trag and stuff

I just saw the new wave line and to me it’s an OK wave line like wave 10 but not as good as wave 9. Looks like rat King got a really big makeover. My only issue with the original rat king is his lack of accessories. He only came with a flute and that was it but at least in here he has more accessories. So he’s looking very presentable in here. Not just him but the damage foot soldier also interest me because his design just gives me a terminator vibe especially with his alternate head. But I think they should’ve had one turtle on the line not two. So yeah rat king and the damage footsoldier will probably be on my list of what to get. But again this wave is not as good as wave nine but it does have something fascinating. Despite everyone’s hate and backlash towards super seven.
@Symphonia30 Wave 9 might not ever be topped I think it's their best wave of all time.
I know what you mean with the Rat King accessories I feel like that seems to be what they're really seaming to get away from as far as the Playmates stuff is concerned. I don't even think I'll have him holding any honestly.
There should definitely only be 1 turtle per wave especially with it just being a wave of 4.
That Leo looks even more lazy if you see all the awesome custom TMNT figures out there.

@darthprime4916 less and less of the random characters with each wave unfortunately... I would take any of the wave 4, 5, and 6 figs they want to throw at us. Dr. El would be huge, I'm def down for that.
I think the super 7 figs are pretty good figures but I do not think they are worth 50$
@ethanchastain9282 definitely over priced. It's why I haven't gone in on any other line of Ultimates, but I do love these TMNT figs enough to willingly overpay.

Dude I'm genuinely restraining my hype for Rappin' Mike, he just had so many of the coolest variants. I have a feeling I won't preorder entire waves ever again. But I'm just very happy to see the sculpt turn around on Rat King and Rappin Mike. Things don't look great for the company overall, but yea we'll see. I just can't justify the whole wave prices let alone off their website. Edit realizing now no Cymbals turn table that does kinda stink. I have some faith restored that they can get CLOSE enough to the Playmates toy line, Heavy Metal Raph should be next? if they knew what their doing. I really want to see them complete the two major variant sets of Turtles and that 88-89 wave (I think everyone does)
@andagean I won't ever preorder an S7 wave again I'll most likely even wait a month or two now hoping to see the sales start to hit.
The improved Rat King is a huge win for fans. Even if S7 really starts to go down hill (which they're showing signs of) I'm glad that is a character that we did end up getting the right version of.
After they showed the 3-D model of Rappin' Mike, his turntable is on the other side of the boom box which is cool. If they don't do Heavy Metal Raph next I'll go nuts haha. They need to complete that subline before they move on. Plus he's one of my all time faves.
I think Traag and Usagi are all weed for the first two years and I think Usagi might be a long shot because of the double IP.
@@noyougrowup69 Having all 4 Rock n Roll Turtles is a big part of it. I want Undercover don too but Heavy Metal Raph is a holy grail at this point I'll be really bummed if he isn't in Wave 12-13 (not sure if whatever their doing with 2003 Turtles will be counted separate I hope so for simplicity sake). The long wait between waves is really unbearable when you realize its 50/50 the figures turn out how you want.
I got into S7 with wave 5 right before the price increase I think and that is the other elephant in the room. I would stomach more variants if they could bring the prices back down. I am skipping on Scumbug actually because I just can't justify the price and I really love that NECA Scumbug he's SO close to the playmates aesthetic that I've placed him next to super7 figures and they honestly look good. What are we getting for 65 dollars with Scumbug that one still baffles me.
I think Edward Cullen Rat King and the Sewer Shoe Box were the final straw. People have had enough of the Super 7 fleecing. Especially in this economy. I think this is why Super 7 also finally announced O-Ring ReAction Joes after saying no for years. I think both them and Hasblo know they are in trouble in this economy and are trying to change course after so much bad will with the mutual fleecing of the customer base.
@dubuyajay9964 I'm pretty sure the O-Ring figs that they're doing are specifically just for the Cobra Mothership and they aren't even going to continue it going forward. But let's be real, that ship isn't getting funded so they could pull the plug on those figs as well if it doesn't fund.

Super 7 said it listened to what the fans wanted with this Wave..... Did they? I don't like like rebuying figures I already have with a slight difference. I want actual new characters in every Wave. 1 variant a Wave was fine because it meant 3 new characters. But this is just horseshit that 3 of the 4 are variants again.
@wesleysteeleiv I feel like the Rat King was fan service but that's pretty much it. Rappin Mikey was pretty predictable but the other two figures just seem to be a bit further from what most people want from the line. The less new playmates characters we get, the less interested I become with the line.
MC Mikey is the clear winner with this wave!
@32lilbruce Rat King is def my #1 but I did find out that Mikey's turntables are on the other side of the boombox which is awesome.
