Molly In Motion, that will be those colour changing LED's 😆 I was wondering if anyone would notice them changing. Made my day that you have spotted that, thank you.
I was impressed with your solution at bending those curtains rails, and I learned how to find the radius of such a curve to boot. Thanks for what you do Greg.
Top video Greg, I love the way you are so clinical about your work, its very inspiring! I've just done a video on these curtains and guess what, van-x have now started putting a bloody jig inside the box!!!!! You must of influenced them to take action! keep the vids coming mate, all the best, Adam, Black Rock 😎
Greg - it doesn’t matter if what you are teaching is something I think I don’t need to know for my Sprinter, I get sucked in every time by your quiet, patient and detailed discussion of whatever it is you are doing.
This van build series has been fascinating to watch. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. You do an excellent job at showing us what you’re doing and explaining the process. I hope the van provides many happy memories for years to come.
How did any of us self builders every get jobs done without watching your vids Greg. Once again a huge thank you for: 1) taking the time to do this vid. 2) for showing us how to make a curved puller and lastly for your delivery of information. Simple, easy to understand instructions taken from a life time, (I don’t doubt) of learning. 👍😊 Cheers
I was going to skip this video. I thought, “What do I need to know about curtains?” Curiosity got me though and I had to watch. As usual I’m glad I did. It’s been a great build series, very well planned and brilliantly executed! Thank you!
You, sir, are a genius! I'm completely enthralled by your work and you have my utmost admiration and respect. I'm more into narrowboats than campervans, but you even give Colin Jaques - to whom I doff my cap - a run for his money. I can't wait for the total reveal.
Thank you for such a lovely comment, makes everything worthwhile to hear that. I have Googled Mr Jaques out of curiosity and looks like a channel I too would enjoy, so I've subbed. Thank you for sharing these interesting people, otherwise, I would have missed great content.
Love the "every day average bloke" straight forward and clear showing of the entire process, very much including the form/tool making and materials used! Honestly, the focus of any specific application is of lesser concern to me than the great way you approach it. Three cheers!
Greg, can't thank you enough for this Sprinter van conversion series. I've been slowly watching all of your content and taking notes for my future build. Your work speaks for itself. I hope I can do half a well when I start my conversion. Cheers from the USA.
LOVING these detailed vids! Mine will be more rustic, but very inspired by your level of workmanship! Making your own tool for the job at hand... brilliant!
You're a lifesaver!! These videos are incredible, your attention to detail is spot on. Thank you for taking the time to show us all your great and tested techniques.
Thanks for this really useful tutorial on making a jig to bend metal Greg. We’re making a beach scence resin table for the van, with an aluminium trim edge. And …. less than 3 weeks to complete before Quirky 🎉😎👍👍
Great looking curtains, much better then others I've seen. I need to see if I can get something like that for my Transit Van. Thanks again for all the work you put into these videos.
Yes they do them for the transit too, here is a specific link for you rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=4&toolid=11800&pub=5575265109&campid=5338027957&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3Dvan%2Bx%2Btransit%2Bcurtains%26rt%3Dnc%26_dmd%3D2
Greg, That has got to be one of the most entertaining, informative and educational how to videos I've seen, absolutely loved watching it. Curtains look fab, your van is going to be the best out there, even better than professional motorhomes, I really appreciate the effort you put in to these videos, thank you.
Great to see you both looking so well 👍, only when when we were chatting on curtains with Greg K (cheers bud) did he show us his sliding door window curtain. Then he mentioned that you'd done a vid. Appears that I had already watched this and it'd got lost in head space 😊
Nice looking curtains, and blackout curtains are invaluable. My plan (still all theoretical I'm afraid) is to get a completely windowless van and buy something like Dometic S7P windows for it. Those come with blackout curtains and insect nets (as they can be opened). I'll probably just have decorative curtains over those, most likely.
Hi Greg I’ve been following you for ages now and always enjoy your videos. I started my Campervan at about the same time as you and a lot of your material has been very useful to me so a big thumbs up and thank you from me. I have our Camp quirky tickets and I’m so looking forward to meeting you and a lot more like minded people and really having a great weekend. See you there 👍🚐
I just like making anything, as a kid I used to like building Lego, Airfix kits and RC cars and planes more than playing with them. That progressed from bicycles to motorbikes and even had a Lotus 7 kitcar few years ago and now this camper van, what next I wonder?
Another great tutorial! The VanX curtains are excellent and they really help with the insulation. Definitely worth getting them. Love the wee jig. Such a smooth finish and worth making your own tool for the purpose. See you at Quirky!!
Great video as usual, Greg. All very detailed and so well explained. I did wonder about the inside/outside radius issue, but see in the comments that has already been addressed. Love your ingenuity. I'm sorry that I'll just miss out on that Camp Quirky event as I'll be in the UK from the first of June next year. Thanks again from Australia.

Hi Andy, wonderful comment, love it. It's funny that you do that because I do the same. My fav woodworking presenter is Norm Abrams from The New Yankee Workshop. I find myself saying "What would Norm do" 😎 Good luck with your build.
I always bradall the carpet lining before drilling to avoid the drill picking up and pulling a thread line in the carpet. Lovely result though Greg thanks, we'll be using that system in our bus now.
the jig was a brilliant idea. i hope to be using something like that for my own van build. thank you for showing me how to make it. because buying one for a single application like that would be expensive and i probably would never use it again.
Exactly, at least this way it was just a few scraps, we have all our old jigs stored on some shelves in the workshop, one or two have been used again or repurposed for something else. A jig is a good way to make a repetitive task consistent.
Great video as always Greg. The information is essential to me because I thought the rails came already bent. I will use your link to purchase mine. Massive thumbs up mate. 👍
I remember getting curtain track curved to fit a bay window 40 years ago. They must have used a similar gig, I know it was very expensive at the time. You’ll have us all bending things now, l know l want to now I see how it’s done.
I just started watching your videos and I am very impressed by the way you put so much detail into them. I’m a truck driver. Don’t do any van stuff. But getting everything ready to put on a new sleeper for the truck. Much bigger than the factory one i have now. Anyway I have an idea for the bed wondering if you could help a bit. Just insight. Ok so I’m taking off the factory sleeper (60”deep) replacing it with a (100”deep) one. My bed is longways across the back wall. In the new sleeper I want to turn it long with my head to the back wall this way i can get a bigger mattress. But want fold it up to make a couch in the middle of the ( room) what I’m trying to figure out is how to make it fold up with out having to fight it (manual labor) sucks lol. Apart from that I will gather a list of places that you can see, enjoy and most of all taste the local gastronomy ;) Do you have an e-mail so that I can send you links, articles and perhaps we can get together and I can show you some of my favourites in my city ;) Best of luck in your journey! ;) Cheers from Portugal.

Oh how exciting! You are exactly where we were this time last year. Have you got somewhere indoors to do the conversion over the winter? The only time it was difficult was during the snow we had when everything you touched was freezing Make the most of the dry days and look forward to meeting you and seeing the end result next May :D
Greg Virgoe No the van is on the drive .... I work away in Ireland so just saturdays. At least we have a target now. Really looking forward to the festival
There were lots of people with just part finished or even new vans and just a mattress in the back. It's a great place to get loads of ideas and to chat to likeminded friendly folk. See you there!
Greg, You measured the radius of the window, which should be the outside radius of the rail, but made the inner form the same radius. It should have been 10cm minus the thickness of the rail.
Thanks Roger, I was hoping nobody would notice ;D lol You are absolutely right of course, in fact, due to the spring back it does need to be slightly smaller.
Another excellent video, what are we all gonna watch when you've done it all! Lol. Would have loved to have gone to camp quirky to see your van, unfortunately in the end I bought a van as I knew I couldn't fit work, life an a van build into my life at present. Maybe you can post an event where everyone can go?
They look really great! Could I ask. I've just come home with first van last night and I'm thinking of what to start first! Strip out clean. Then insulation or wiring or windows confused please advise
Amazing work and attention to detail in your build series. Not sure if you may have mentioned before, just wandering why you went for the glass windows and not the double glazed motorhome type of window? Im sure you have a good valid reason, probably of something that Im unaware of. Excellent work Greg.
Hi Greg, fantastically practical and inspirational channel, thank you. Just a quick question about this video if you get time to respond I would like to know if you had a bottom rail on the cab divider too as you said it was taught but only showed the top rail going in. Thanks again!
There is only a top rail for the cab divider so the curtain hangs to about a foot off the floor 300mm approx just below the level of the front seats. It has three tie backs on each side when not in use. Thanks for great feedback 😊
alan mcgrath no reason why they should be ok. I can give you a top tip. On the sliding door cut the rails a little shorter so they don’t curve up the side so much. If the rails curve up the side too much the curtains become very saggy at the edge and it just looks unsightly. Hope all goes well for you
👏Another excellent job. The curtains are amazing. I love all the detail that you show. Your jig well what can l say other than it's Greg Virgoe what do you expect!!!👍😃
One of many Sam’s we do sometimes get a little bit on the glass if it really cold outside. But we find that good ventilation and bit of heat at night keeps that down to a minimum.
Hi Greg, great workmanship and outstanding neat work. Please could tell me where you purchased the LED lights from and also the LED channel housing for them. Any links appreciated
Hello. I'm getting a router today but will bits work? Or do you have to use the same make of bits for it? I found you using a router on a van episode very interesting and useful because I'm looking in to do a van and trailer build and I need to get the right bits.
Various bits will work you just have to make sure the shaft size of the bit suits your router. Most compact routers are 1/4” and larger routers are 1/2”. Different makes will still work ok 👍🏼 I find the router to be really useful tool.
Hey Greg another great video, I'm mid way through a conversion myself and I've found your videos very helpful. One thing I'm struggling with is insuring my home brewed camper and just wondered who you use?

Have you got somewhere indoors to do the conversion over the winter?
The only time it was difficult was during the snow we had when everything you touched was freezing
Make the most of the dry days and look forward to meeting you and seeing the end result next May :D
Neat. I like those curtains. I may contact them to see if I can get curtains for my Ford E-series van when the time comes.
Thanks!
Hi another good video the blackout curtains rails are a very good idea
They do fit very well, I’m very happy with them 😀
Greg,
You measured the radius of the window, which should be the outside radius of the rail, but made the inner form the same radius.
It should have been 10cm minus the thickness of the rail.
Thanks Roger, I was hoping nobody would notice ;D lol
You are absolutely right of course, in fact, due to the spring back it does need to be slightly smaller.

Great job anyway!
Damn it, I was gonna raise this point. Good answer from Greg though!
I'll be the first to hold my hand up if I'm wrong :D Thats the beauty of these open forums, everyone helpign each other.
Your display of humility here is another example of why I hold you in such high esteem. Thank you for another great video Greg.
Good insights. Thanks Greg.
Top notch once again, thanks Greg!
Beautiful work as always
They look really great! Could I ask. I've just come home with first van last night and I'm thinking of what to start first! Strip out clean. Then insulation or wiring or windows confused please advise
My goodness that was so well explained, thank you
You are welcome, thank you for great feedback
Well done Greg top job. I shall get online now for my cam quirky tickets 👍
Nice work as always, vans looking great 👌
Thank you Michael
Amazing work and attention to detail in your build series. Not sure if you may have mentioned before, just wandering why you went for the glass windows and not the double glazed motorhome type of window? Im sure you have a good valid reason, probably of something that Im unaware of. Excellent work Greg.
Purely aesthetics Mark, the plastic ones have much more function but just look ugly.
Wow they look great as always you do excellent work 👍🏼great info and videos thanks for sharing one day I can get convert a van like yours 😄
I can't wait to see final result of your Van.
Andrey, it's going to be worth the wait, even I'm excited about it 😊 lol
Great project and video. Thanks for sharing.
Brill video Greg, Just ordered some, bet mine don't turn out like yours lol !!
alan mcgrath no reason why they should be ok.
I can give you a top tip.
On the sliding door cut the rails a little shorter so they don’t curve up the side so much. If the rails curve up the side too much the curtains become very saggy at the edge and it just looks unsightly.
Hope all goes well for you
@@GregVirgoe Cheers greg, thanks for the tip. Will watch the video again and knock a couple of cm off
Looking fab!
Thank you Catherine. :D
Great video Greg.
Thank you Mr Johnson
nice one Greg, ive used the same ones from van x , black on black. my gas cylinder happend to be the right curve i needed
They are surprisingly tough for such a small rail.
Over the knee was not doing it at all :D
Another brilliant video, Greg! Thanks!
👏Another excellent job. The curtains are amazing. I love all the detail that you show. Your jig well what can l say other than it's Greg Virgoe what do you expect!!!👍😃
If anyone can over-engineer a solution you can bet it will be me LOL
@@GregVirgoebut effective and it did the job perfectly each time 👍😊
Great channel and these super handy videos are a godsend, Do you have any issues with condensation in behind the curtains?
Thank you. 👍
About to fit my Van X side curtain so great info & amazing timing, Plus Quirky tickets purchased yesterday...A change to meet the Master ???
That's great, pleased the video is useful to you and do come and say hello, it will be great to meet you Roger
Hey Greg another great video, I'm mid way through a conversion myself and I've found your videos very helpful. One thing I'm struggling with is insuring my home brewed camper and just wondered who you use?
