You got me again with the clothes pins! When you busted those out the first thing I thought to myself was “he painted them O.D. green, didn’t he”?! From a fellow outdoorsman/machinist I thank you! By far my favorite channel!
I am 68 years old, watch all your videos and many others. I have to say I enjoy yours more than all others no matter what the subject matter is. May it"s because I'm from Kentucky and understand what you say and how you present it. Keep it up.
David, I am retired from the army, was a logistics infantry officer. You put a good deal of energy into nomenclature and national stock number of the insect bar. Why the Army doesn’t call it a bug net, I don’t know. I’m a ground dweller, tarp guy, from a hot part of central Texas. I appreciate your thorough presentation of a warm weather shelter with bug protection, maximizing breeze and protection from mosquitos and flies. If the bad rain and big wind comes, well, bring down the sides and get ready for the storm, common sense. Thank you so much for your good camera work and thoughtful presentation. I watch you once in a while and sure appreciate your sensible approach. The lush woods you’re in remind me of Fort Benning, GA.. I was raised in East Tennessee, pretty wet there too. Now, I live in central Texas, hot and dry, not so buggy. I love your accent. It’s rich and speaks well of where you were raised. I hope you never loose it. It’s home. When we’re away from home (I’ve been all over the world)...we know what home is. Your accent is wonderful. Texas
Great to hear from you Jeff! My brother and sister were born in Murfreesboro Tennessee but I was born here in Northwest Georgia. Im about a three hour drive North of Columbus so thats probably why this are looks so familiar. Plenty more videos in the works and thanks for watching Brother!
Very informative video Dave. I think it's great how you can laugh at yourself. This is great advice for someone like me who absolutely hates "skeeters". Watching your videos is like getting outdoor advice from a buddy. Keep up the great work.
Thanks brother, I'm happy you liked it. Man I HATE skeeters. They can really ruin a trip and really ruin sleep. Take care Scott and see ya in the next one
Hey Dave.....I'm still watching and loving all of your videos. It's been a while. I have to say...part of what makes your videos so fun to watch is your sense of humor! You would of course paint the wooden clothes pins! And anything in the wild should always be OD to be cool! You laugh and make jokes that are so down to earth and show what a regular guy you are......easy to relate to. You are still my man crush after all this time, I never get tired of you, your great accent, and all of the great ideas you share in your amazing videos. Keep um com in"!
+deerna6464 Thanks! I'm glad you like all the vids and what I do. Believe it or not, I actually have toned down my sense of humor for the vids. I am in real life a very weird guy. LOL. Oh and yes, everything OD green is very cool. LOL. Great hearing from you , Take care and Thanks for watching !
Another fun one! :) .. Nice shelter Hon! It made perfect sense to me.. I figured that since it doesn't have a floor, you'd have to tuck it under to keep the crawlies out too, not just the flyer buzzies ;) lol .. Lots of fun as always:) .. Gotta have OD green to look cool in the woods!.. Or camo ;) LOL .. Thanks for all the videos, I think we all greatly appreciate the work you put in :)
+Ruth Elgers Thanks! Yep, gotta keep it tucked in, as long as the net doesnt touch you, it works great. LOL, now you sound like me, its gotta be camo or olive drab to be cool!
As usual.. makes me want to get out to the woods. Thanks Dave. Keep em coming.., I also love getting that message telling me you have uploaded a new video.
+Mulchie750 Always great to hear that! It wont be long before the weather is perfect to get out and hike and camp. Lots more to come, Take care and Thanks for watching
Just found your channel and I'm so glad I did! I'm in Louisiana and have been searching for the perfect summer camp shelter. ...my search ended here. This setup is perfect for those hot, muggy, mosquito infested nights here in Louisiana. Another thing I love about your channel is that your neck of the woods looks like my neck of the woods. 😁 I'm totally enjoying going through your videos and will definitely be looking forward to more. Thanks for the channel! 👍😎
Welcome to my channel Tony and I'm glad you're here! Yep, our environments are very similar. Hot n humid. Enjoy the videos and thanks for watching brother
Nice warm weather shelter. I still prefer my hammock, but it's nice to have options. Thanks for showing this. Love your videos and love that you can laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously.
+beachcomber52 Thanks , I'm glad you liked it. Lots o people prefer hammocks. I have a few friends that just cant sleep in em so they are ground dwellers. This is just about the best way of sleeping on the ground in summer without being miserable. Oh, I pretty much laugh at everything. Hee Hee. Thanks for watching
Another shelter on my list to try out. Its getting a very long list now. Ha ha. Again a very good video. Enjoyed every minute. Thank you for taking us with you to show the awesome shelters you know about.
Hey Dave glad to see you again. You are one awesome dude. I enjoy everyone of your videos . if you're Ever in Ohio you got a place to stay with my family. stay cool. Respectfully yours G Malise
+Gary Malise Always great to be back on here Brother Gary. Im happy you like all the vids. So far, I havent left the south but thanks a million for the offer. You never know when I may come up north. Thanks for watching
Hey i just now had a chance to watch your video. You are a bushcraft genius. love watching to see what new gear you have and now to use it. I just need to get out and use some of the great wisdom you share with us. Thank you my friend.
+Rick “USA1RICK” Lindsey Thanks Rick, I'm glad you like what all I do so much brother. Man this is getting to be the perfect temps to get out and do some stuff in the woods. Get out there and have fun soon. Take care and Thanks for watching
Nice video on netting you always either remind me of things I have over looked or forgotten or taught me new ways to set up shelters and Bushcraft don't worry about not being in the military your doing great I spent over 8 years in the military and yet I am watching your videos for great ideas keep on camp'in my friend well done. Now I need a net lol
+Cybor Bot Thanks man , I'm glad you liked it and Im glad its given you new ideas. I myself often get stuck doing the same ole stuff over and over and get used to it and its great to see a different perspective on things. Thats always great to hear when someone from the military can learn a few tips from me. That makes me feel like Im doing good. Take care now and Thanks for watching
I was in the Australian military and our bug nets also got dipped in some pretty nasty chemicals, especially if we were doing tropical exercises. Tucking it under also protects from ticks. And would prob stop you waking up with scorpions and snakes too. I love that you painted the clothes pegs, that gave me a giggle. New to your channel and loving the informative content and the way you present it
Dave you are the man. Like I have told you before I can no longer get out and do this kind of stuff any more so your videos mean so much to me. I almost feel like I am out there. So please keep up the good work and don't make us wait so long.
+Randy Musick That's always great to hear that I can bring a little outdoor fun to you. I have been wanting to try and upload one video each week but so far, it's just not happened yet. Take care and thanks for watching my friend
+Thomas Byrne Thank you Thomas, I'm glad you liked it. LOL, I just couldnt help but paint the clothes pins. They didnt match my gear. Thanks for watching
+Kanzee Thank you my friend! I'm glad you liked it. I recently ditched adding groments and went to webbing and I like it a lot better for some set ups. Thanks for watching
Great fun to watch, and great info also. I'll have to remember the notching for locking poles together, I've never thought of that. Looks like you would want a bit longer tarp in case of showers, but perfect shelter for the weather you built it in. Thanks a bunch
+Sasquatchlife Notrace Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. Notches add so much strength to a structure that to me they are good no matter how much cordage you have. Bigger tarps are always a plus when wet weather is expected. Take care and Thanks for watching!
That is one of the best shelters yet and I can see all kinds of further possibilities for it for when the weather turns colder as well. Great job man, thank you.
+InTheNameOfJustice Thanks Brother! I'm glad you liked it that much. Yes, theres a ton of possibilities for this set up. You could use this frame and roof style and even in cold weather take advantage of a fire on both sides. Thanks for watching
I have been in camping mode for years and am truly enjoying all of your tips, ideas, and encouragement. I am adding your suggestions to my camping kit, slowly. And I'm single and figure where there are guys...there are gals. I am one of those camping kinda gals. Thanks Dave...
This video couldn't be more perfectly timed.... I recently just moved to, and went camping in northern Alabama and as soon as I got back home, the first thing i did was order a full "insect bar" net because I learned my lesson. It is HOT out there in a tent without any breeze moving through your shelter. I've been loving your channel. thanks for the informative and entertaining videos. Keep up the awesome work!
+fleanine You can purchase a USB Rechargeable Hand Fan, brilliant piece of equipment, if the wife don't wanna fan you with the big leaf..lol Cheers ;-)
+fleanine Thats great man! Youre gonna love that net. Its twice as heavy duty as other nets. Experiment with ways of setting it up but give this set up a try. Its been a good one for me. Thanks for watching
Great set up, great bug net, and great shelter as always Dave! I am blown away at how many amazing shelters you can come up with. I enjoy each and every one of them my friend! Thanks for sharing!
+SouthPaw Bushcraft Thanks, I'm glad you liked it all Dawn. I still have a few zany shelters up my sleeve to show. LOL. Take care now and Thanks for watching
wow Dave, that is a awsome big tent and it´s just the a one i need. i am gonna make this with 3 or 4 tarp´s and there is room all 4 of us. GREAT DAVID and thank you for these awsome tip, and see you in the next one. : )
I just watched this one again and I think I'm gonna make this setup also for my "Stash" equipment. I do appreciate All Your video's so much, David. I learn so much from them too.
Once again, great video. Such a clever design; it would be hard to describe in a book, but you make it easy to understand by your careful demonstration. I do enjoy your videos.
Hi David. I hope you and your son are doing well. It's great to see you still putting out the videos. I enjoy them very much, especially at bed time with a soothing drink. Best wishes from the UK. :)
+Max Allister Thanks Max, I'm glad you liked it. Oh yes, not only are them nets cheap but, they seem to be pretty much the toughest net material I have found. Thanks for watching man
Hey Dave, Yea! Always love to see you and your videos. The comment that was made about a tv show... You'd be great on the Discovery Channel. I'd be your greatest fan😘 LOL anyway thanks for the ideas; I love using the reflector to keep that heat off for sure. Can't wait for the Fall to try some of your ideas. I just need to find me a buddy to go. Take care my friend. Keep in touch. Terri
+Terri S. Hello Terri ! I gotta say this, out of all the program developers that have contacted me, no one from Discovery has ever contacted me. I have no idea what that means other than I have no drama to offer or Im just too boring. LOL. I pretty much have given up on TV for now tho. Fall is the perfect time to get out and camp and have fun in the woods. Take care now and Thanks for watching Terri.
I hope someone is smart enough to pick you up. I am your biggest fan😘 Thanks for sharing the stuff you have learned. Take care my friend. See ya in the woods ha😜
Very cool shelter David. I had a lot of fun watching you. I have always wondered about the usefulness of those military bug nets. I really like all the extra height you get from them. With this configuration, we could easily use a bigger tarp for some extra room too. Always a pleasure watching you my friend. Thanks a bunch. :-)
+saradreaming Thanks Sara! I'm glad you liked it. These bug nets are huge! Thats what makes em so handy and they are very tough. Yes, a bigger tarp will work, I use that little tarp when its gonna be dry and no rain is expected. I normally turn the silver part out to reflect the heat. Always great to hear from you. Take care and Thanks for watching
Here in Australia we don't do bushcrafting with knives, we use chainsaws and even then you can see the sparks flying off the chain, that hard our wood is here down under . We call it IRONBARK! Keep well mate ,you warm us all up down here (winter)with your fabulous videos 👍⛷🍻 Cheers David
I'm going to go camping with my daughter next early summer for a weekend. I can't wait!! It's been over 20 years. I will get to use my equipment. The snugpak would make a great pillow left in it's own bag too. Lolololol rotflmbo on the green clothes pins. Love the net home.
Another fantastic video :-) its so entertaining watching you as you make everything look fun and easy :-) once again thanks for sharing such great quality videos.....
+Eat Carbs Thanks, Im glad you liked it Brother Mark! Absolutely look at that blanket. It weighs almost nothing and yet its perfect for what I call cool temps. Not for super cold temps. Always great to hear from you, Thanks for watching my friend
Thanks Dave! Good video. I believe the reason it is called "BAR" is because this version was more constructed to use over a bed or military cot and originally developed for barracks use. That is where the term BAR comes from Barracks. Billy
Thanks Billy, I'm glad you liked it. That makes sense but several other commentors said bar was short for barrier. As in insect barrier. The barracks makes sense too so now Im not sure! Thanks for watching
+NWIPrepper19113 Thats cool man, I had fun as always filming. Thats a good definition of bar. Ive gotten a few comments but no one has gotten the 100% dire hard answer to why the military calls it what they do. Im hoping the mystery is solved. LOL. Thanks for watching my friend.
+Reallybigmonkey1 Yeah, It's used in quotations you've heard, such as "Bar the door" and "He's barred from coming here again". Now you can say "Those insects are barred from my shelter lol. Watching was a pleasure as always David.
+Reallybigmonkey1 Over here (UK) you can get 'barred' from all sorts of things (pubs mostly in my case) so I'd say the above definition is probably right
Daaavvve -- welcome back, bud!! Love the new vid. I check the channel every day to see if you've posted something new. Just got back from 2 weeks in Idaho -- camping in the mountains. Got to see some snow a couple days. Took my gear and practiced fire making, etc. Thanks again for the post.
+Connie Flohr Always good to be back Connie. I'm happy you liked the video. Sounds like you had a great time. I never get enough snow living here in the south. Very cool you took your gear and practiced. Thanks for watching
+Reallybigmonkey1 You have a permanent invite to come to Idaho sometime for some time in the woods. Even though we're from Maryland, we know how to offer up some good southern hospitality. :-)
Dave, that is a very slick shelter. and I like the use of the notches to set the angle and keep the poles together. and your wireless mic is excellent. as always I really enjoy your vids.
+Cantab Hiker Thanks, Im glad you liked it. Them notches make it very easy to secure. Round stuff almost always rolls around not matter what knot you use. LOL. I love that new mic, Im gonna use it a lot. Thanks for watching
+Ei Pi Thank you , I'm glad you liked it. Thats sliding on the ridgeline comes in very handy when locating the net right above the pad. Thanks for watching
+Reallybigmonkey1 im a vet so im not very experienced in primitive shelters but prefer them now...especially the flathead shelter...its awesome. BTW do you need a heavy duty sewing machine for what you sew? Or will a standard model do? thxs
I really enjoyed this one your bug net is cool and I looked them up and ordered me one, from the Army surplus store, so thank you very much for showing us that net and how to use it.please keep teaching us things I really like learning from you .:) have a good day.
+Angela Allen Im happy you liked it Angela and even happier you ordered a bug net! Them things work great and can make camping in hot weather so much easier. Take care and Thanks for watching
Thank you for showing us this cool shelter with the fantastic bugnet. That´s the best method to keep those crawling, biting and blood sucking creatures of the night away.Man, I hate those Little vampires.Dave, you have the best ideas! I love your vids, Tony
+Survivalprepper Your very welcome Tony and Im happy you liked it brother. Its horrible trying to sleep with all them critters biting on ya. Take care and Thanks for watching
Great video I did not know 2 different styles were made, I just bought the other style. Think I will be ordering the "tent" style soon. Thanks for making a great informational video.
+Chilln187 Thanks Brother, I'm happy you liked it. I only have the one kind. If you get the other kind, send me a message and tell me how different they are. Take care and Thanks for watching
I just picked up an outdoor research bugnet bivvy, put that around my MSS bag and packed that away. Taking my tarp out this weekend and doing some tarp camping! I wish we had trees where I am at. Would totally try the set up you’re working on here! I really enjoy all the safety tips and laughter along the way. Great video as always, David! Heeey everybody! 😅
Sounds good Christopher! I gotta say it's definitely a huge Advantage to be surrounded by trees. It makes the set ups limitless. I'm glad you like the videos and thanks for watching
Hey David! Good to see you friend! This is a super set up! I am definitely trying this one out! Just love all your shelter videos(well, all your videos really!). Those nets are HUGE. The modifications on the tarps and nets are awesome! I checked these out and was surprised at how inexpensive they are. Thank you for taking the time to make and share friend. :) Like the new mic, David. I also caught what you said about being up in the trees and I'm excited to see whats coming! ;)
+boggycreekbeast ALWAYS good to hear from you brother! Im happy you liked it. This set up does have several things going for it, all the gear is quite cheap, very available, light weight and easy to pack. I usually hate sleeping on the ground in the summer but this is how I do it in the south when its horrible hot. Man Im loving that mic. LOL, yes you heard about the trees. Ill give you a hint, almost all the yahoos on TV show a tree platform but, no one shows how to build one by yourself. Think about one person building one high up? I have pretty much perfected building a tree platform all by myself. Be looking for that vid to come. Take care man and Thanks for watching
Awesome ideas, David! I like budget equipment because its in keeping with survival philosophy. Expensive gear videos kind of turn me off and they require no creativity. Your designs are so appealing because of the modifications, affordability, ease of assembly and they're original. Oh YEAH! I remember one from way back that you took down. Been wanting to see you make another video over this. Can't wait brother! :)
I am glad I found your video cause I just bought me a military never issued insect bar for $10 at a military surplus in a flea market and was not sure on how it got set up and now thanks to you I now know how it gets set up, Great video and very helpful, I enjoyed it very much, Thanks
I just started watching these today.I've enjoyed everyone. I'm going to take my son to the woods to practice this, we've always used a tent, but we might not alway's have one .Keep making videos please
+Shirley Green Cool, Im happy you like em Shirley. Take your son out every chance you get. This kinds stuff is great to teach em and its a ton of fun too. Thanks for watching
+noll4923g Thanks , I'm glad you liked it. Ah man was that mic awesome! I plan on using it a lot more. Im happy to have it. Take care and Thanks for watching
Glad to see you again, Dave....This set-up is one I'm likely to use since Virginia and I have all of these components...Thanks for the design,... Clark
Great video. Just the type of shelter for Florida summer camping that I was looking for this summer. I am going to play around with this shelter to see if it can be rigged for a hammock. Thank you very much for this valuable information.
That is funny first thing I said when you were so far off was " someone got a new toy" so hearing you got a new mic was really funny. Been watching longtime thanks for the fun vids.
I love your warm weather shelter! Really cool concept and rediculously light weight package. My only addition would be actually one of yours...which is, your angled rope bed which lifts you off the ground. I was just thinking about the snakes:)
+john- waxerone Thanks John , I'm glad you liked it. Man that is a good idea. I actually havent tried the combine the two. Good idea because the net can be tied underneath since that bed is actually off the ground. Thanks for watching John
I've got the same ranger pack and it's a good general use pack but I don't have a frame for it. Love the videos and the knowledge gained I really appreciate it keep up the good work
Dave, I always love seeing and email in my inbox that says ReallyBibMonkey1 has just posted a new video. But I read the title to this one and saw "Warm Weather Shelter And My Big Nuts" and knew I must have read that wrong. Dave wouldn't camp under a walnut tree, that's just crazy. :-)
Great video. I've just started looking for a mosquito net for tarp camping and there you are! Good job with the mike, it keeps your voice level through the entire video.
+Fredi Reiher Thank you Fredi , I'm glad you liked it. Man this is the net for you then! Its made of the most heavy duty netting of any Ive seen. That mic turned out awesome! Thanks for watching
I very like this warm weather shelter setup David. Yes, mosquitoes can really ruin your day or night. You are completely right with the importance of a bug net = protection but breath-ability. I love bug nets in general. It is such a smart, useful but very lightweight piece of equipment. I always take one with me when it should be over 65F during a night. I used the cot size net in my latest overnight trip, and let me tell you it was a life saver. We appreciate your time to share your knowledge and ideas. Take care! M.S.T.
+MODERN SURVIVAL TACTICS Thank you Brother, I'm glad you liked it. Theres a lot of things that irritate me in the woods but being bitten by bugs all night is tops on my list! Thats cool you use one too. I think for what they weight, theres no reason to not carry one in warm weather. Take care man and Thanks for watching
Happiness is another "Fun in the Woods" video! I reckon the military would have learned a thing or two from you, brother, but they might have kept it a military secret. I'm glad you had your time to yourself to develop your own brand of woods wisdom and share it with us.
+eqlzr2 Cool saying I have no idea how much the military could use of my stuff. One thing is for sure, I do like to sleep comfortably! I love doing this stuff and Im always happy to share. Take care and Thanks for watching
Hey Dave, I just watched this one again.... My vet friend tells me they are called ''bar'' because they ''bar'' the entry of insects into your enclosure, it is also short for ''barrier ''. Take care, God bless, and CHEERS my friend.
That is one great setup Dave. Very simple, light weight, and cost effective. I've never heard of Mule Tape have to check it out. Enjoyed this a great deal just keep up the good work. Take care brother. atb Opal
+Opal Preston Shirley Thanks Opal, Im glad you liked it. This is a very cheap set up and the components weigh darn near nothing. Lots more to come, Thanks for watching
Hey ,How are you doing ? Love your Vids !! I was in the Army 68-71 and we had "some" bug nets on our bed's in our Pt. bay, in our small Evac Hosp. for those we didn't send out with minor wounds or had an Illness that didn't require Evacuation .Or for those coming back from rear area Hosp. that needed some care but would be returning to duty shortly . Geez , sorry . Anyway there is a "BAR" that attaches to the end( one on each end) of the bunk's / bed's that is T shaped that the" nets" were supported by . That" BAR "figures into the name I believe ! I was in Long Binh for a short while and "some" of the bunk's in some of the hootches had Netting that were supported by those same T shaped "BARS" also . Seems like there were some in CRB also ?? They were a rare commodity in RVN and were issued on a priority basis, Medical Hosp. being one of the highest !! Never saw "anybody" using them in the field , at least not in our A.O's ?!? We had Poncho's and poncho liner's and NO nets in the field / bush !!! Can't imagine using one and having to de-ass quickly ?!? Could ruin your whole day if getting hit !! Hope this helps in some way ?? Keep em rolling Doc 70/71
+buford guber Im happy you like the vids my friend and Thank you for the info! That makes a lot of sense and Im surprised they were rare back then. I totally understand not using em in the field since it would be just another obstacle in moving up and out fast. Thanks for the explaination and Thanks for watching
very cool David...another innovative shelter from the master of innovation! i use a modified military insect bar over my hammock...useful bit of kit ...atb...woods
+MTwoodsrunner Thanks Brother, Im glad you liked it. Thats cool you use a modified net too. These old military nets seem to be the thickest material for a net that I have found yet. Take care and Thanks for watching
+KP Saari Cool, Im glad you liked it. Im not 100% sure of the differences in the two styles but I know they can be modified to work. Good luck my friend
Hey Dave. Nice set up. I do a similar set-up but using a sil-nylon tarp over a nylon hammock and a Sea-to-Summit bug net. I hate sleeping on the ground!
+Ted Volkert Thanks Ted , I'm glad you liked it. I hear ya man, I despise sleeping on the ground and this is pretty much the only way I do it in the summer time. Thanks for watching
. great shelter,i want one. i do have a civilian porch style bug net,i could modify that,...thanks for sharing. you make good videos, always good to see someone else's ideas.
+Pappy Thanks Pappy! I'm glad you liked it. Some civilian bug nets are pretty good but finding a gigantic one may be tough. These military ones are the biggest I've seen so far. Good luck, have fun and thanks for watching
Great Video. Very cool shelter. I have a Snugpak Jungle Sleeping Bag. Its has concealed roll away mosquito netting which can be zipped over the face sealing. Very claustrophobic but you don't have to use it. I tried in when I first got it. only lasted about a minute had to unzip it.
+marlonhaines Thank you Marlon I'm glad you liked it. Man I pretty much love everything Ive seen from Snugpak. They make great stuff. That zip over mosquito net would absolutely get used around here near the wetlands. Our bugs can be horrible at times when its hot or humid. Thanks for watching
Dave your "Heeey everybody" always makes me happy. I love your channel. God bless you and Nick! Take care
Always great to hear that! Thanks for watching and may God bless you too Joel
You got me again with the clothes pins! When you busted those out the first thing I thought to myself was “he painted them O.D. green, didn’t he”?! From a fellow outdoorsman/machinist I thank you! By far my favorite channel!
Lol, well they gotta look cool!I'm happy you like my channel that much!
so much fun to watch David.. and no worries.. you always look cool in the woods.. olive drab or not...lol... cool shelter
I just love watching your videos. You always make me laugh & I always learn something new. Keep up the great videos!
+l martin Thank you my friend , I'm glad you like what all I do. Lots more to come!
I am 68 years old, watch all your videos and many others. I have to say I enjoy yours more than all others no matter what the subject matter is. May it"s because I'm from Kentucky and understand what you say and how you present it. Keep it up.
+James Sr. Baugh Thanks James , I'm glad you like mine the best! I am just a good ole southern boy like you. Thanks for watching

Thanks brother, I'm happy you liked it. Man I HATE skeeters. They can really ruin a trip and really ruin sleep. Take care Scott and see ya in the next one
sweet set up love this video
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it Justin

Just found your channel and I'm so glad I did!
I'm in Louisiana and have been searching for the perfect summer camp shelter. ...my search ended here.
This setup is perfect for those hot, muggy, mosquito infested nights here in Louisiana.
Another thing I love about your channel is that your neck of the woods looks like my neck of the woods. 😁
I'm totally enjoying going through your videos and will definitely be looking forward to more.
Thanks for the channel!
👍😎
Welcome to my channel Tony and I'm glad you're here! Yep, our environments are very similar. Hot n humid. Enjoy the videos and thanks for watching brother
I agree Tony Andrus, I see lots of bushcraft videos for cold weather locations, but not that many for hot and humid. This is wonderful.
Awesome video, looks very cool.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
Your shelters are really pieces of art haha , Thanks for sharing this David .Greetz from Holland.
+Martin bushcraft Thanks Brother , I'm glad you liked it in that way. Greeting back at ya from Georgia in the U.S.A.
Another shelter on my list to try out. Its getting a very long list now. Ha ha. Again a very good video. Enjoyed every minute. Thank you for taking us with you to show the awesome shelters you know about.
+Gullrica Cool! Well its time to work on that list Ulrica! Im happy you liked it my good friend. Take care be happy and Thanks as always for watching
New to your channel and loving the informative content and the way you present it
Very cool that you have experience with these type of nets. I love mine in the summer time. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
Great ideal to add to things I can do with the grand kids thanks for a great video always learn something new
Sounds great John and I'm happy you liked it
adaptation and creativity, Awesome. Bug nets are mandatory in my "neck of the woods".
+Faber Marchi Thank you Faber. Bug nets are a very very important piece of gear. Thanks for watching
Love the video, very informative and entertaining. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us; looking forward to seeing more of them.
+Najja Foluke Thank you, Im glad you liked it Najja. Lots more to come!
Thanks Dave. Love your videos here in London. The green clothes pins made me laugh:-)
+Thomas Byrne Thank you Thomas, I'm glad you liked it. LOL, I just couldnt help but paint the clothes pins. They didnt match my gear. Thanks for watching
Good job man, Stay safe and don't let the bed bugs bite.. Thanks again for all you contribute.........
+Danny Harrison Thanks Danny! Hopefully no bugs for me. I'm always happy to share and thanks for watching
Love the Ground pad/netting and Tarp 'Webbing Loops/Webbing straps/Tie outs" modifications !! Good stuff.
Awesome summer shelter and easy to assemble. Thanks for showing
I'm happy you liked it and thanks for watching David
I have been in camping mode for years and am truly enjoying all of your tips, ideas, and encouragement. I am adding your suggestions to my camping kit, slowly. And I'm single and figure where there are guys...there are gals. I am one of those camping kinda gals. Thanks Dave...
Sounds great Kelly! I love it when friends learn from me. Enjoy the camping and meeting camp mates!
+fleanine A small fan feels like air conditioning.
Thanks for watching
fleanine w.
LOL. Take care now and Thanks for watching
wow Dave, that is a awsome big tent and it´s just the a
one i need. i am gonna make this with 3 or 4 tarp´s and there is room all 4 of us.
GREAT DAVID and thank you for these awsome tip, and see you in the next one. : )
Always great to hear that Willem and I'm happy you like it and can use it. Thanks for watching my friend
I just watched this one again and I think I'm gonna make this setup also for my "Stash" equipment. I do appreciate All Your video's so much, David. I learn so much from them too.
Sounds good Danny. This is one of the best bug infested warm weather shelters I know of. Youre very welcome for all the vids and thanks for watching
Once again, great video. Such a clever design; it would be hard to describe in a book, but you make it easy to understand by your careful demonstration. I do enjoy your videos.
+Stephen Wright Thanks Stephan , I'm glad you liked it. Man it would be tough to just write how to set it up! Thanks for watching
I love that you painted those pegs green.. I really enjoy your vids. Cheers
I had to make em tacti-cool. Lol. Thanks for watching my friend
Hi David. I hope you and your son are doing well. It's great to see you still putting out the videos. I enjoy them very much, especially at bed time with a soothing drink. Best wishes from the UK. :)
Another great video, thanks for taking the time David..
+Andrew Cain Thanks , I'm glad you liked it Andrew and Im always happy to share
Another outstanding hooch. Those nets are pretty cheap also. That's a win, win. Thanks for the great vid.
You are one informative guy. you definitely have a gift, always look foward to watching your vids. keep it up bro
+Brian Seibert Thank you Brian! I'm happy you like what I do so much. Lots more to come. Thanks for watching
Well done, I really enjoyed your video Thank you very much for the tips on how to process the poles. Safely done, and so simple. As always PEACE :-)
Here in Australia we don't do bushcrafting with knives, we use chainsaws and even then you can see the sparks flying off the chain, that hard our wood is here down under . We call it IRONBARK!
Keep well mate ,you warm us all up down here (winter)with your fabulous videos 👍⛷🍻
Cheers David
@@gunterbecker8528
We have iron wood here in the US also.
And several other woods that are as hard.
At least here in the west coast mtns.
I'm going to go camping with my daughter next early summer for a weekend. I can't wait!! It's been over 20 years. I will get to use my equipment. The snugpak would make a great pillow left in it's own bag too. Lolololol rotflmbo on the green clothes pins. Love the net home.
I have a similar bugg net, this way of using it will definitely be something that I will try! Thanks for sharing!
Take care, Joachim
+SwedishOutdoor Sounds great Joachim! Give it a try and see if you like it. Take care and Thanks for watching.
Great video Dave . And thanks for the tips on buying my new Knifes you 100% know your blades.
+Colt GMB Thanks , I'm glad you liked it Brother. Im always happy to help out with blade choices. Thanks for watching
Another fantastic video :-) its so entertaining watching you as you make everything look fun and easy :-) once again thanks for sharing such great quality videos.....
+MrSnowdog73 Thanks, Im glad you liked it Mr Snowdog. Man, everything is a lot of fun but rarely easy. LOL. Thanks for watching
A great shelter as always brother! Great stuff. I might have to look into that blanket. I need something for summer use.
Thanks for the video
+Eat Carbs Thanks, Im glad you liked it Brother Mark! Absolutely look at that blanket. It weighs almost nothing and yet its perfect for what I call cool temps. Not for super cold temps. Always great to hear from you, Thanks for watching my friend
Reallybigmonkey1
I've already book marked the link on Amazon >_o
great video as always I enjoyed going on one of your excursions with you thanks
+Amra survival Thanks Amra, Im glad you liked it and Im always happy to take you along
I had fun. Always god watching you do something new. Thanks again for the demo.
Bar --a barrier to prevent or forbid the entrance or movement of.
+Connie Flohr Thanks Connie!
Another cool shelter, nice trick with the sliding net over the ridge-line. Keep up the gr8 work!
Thanks Bud!! Always enjoy your vids!!
+gary s I always enjoy hanging out with yall. Take care and Thanks for watching Gary.
Glad to see ya back Dave, Ditto with Gary If ya ever get up to Canada your welcome here!
+Dave Sourwine Thanks Dave, I'm glad you liked it and its always good to be back on here. Man I would love to see Canada
Great shelter for summer. The Mic works great, I didn't have to adjust my volume. Good stuff!
+tjdell480 Thanks ! Im glad you liked it. Thats so cool that the cordless mic and the mic on my camera matched volumes!
Great video as usual Dave. Insect bar is short for insect barrier !! I really enjoy and learn from your videos.
thanx
Sam
Thanks Sam, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
Great stuff as always. Thank you for sharing.
+Richie Rich Thanks Richie! Im always happy to share, Thanks for watching
nice shelter I like it because you can see all around you in the beautiful nature :)
I'm glad you liked it Ronny. Yep, this is a good one for being able to see what all is going on around you
I just picked up an outdoor research bugnet bivvy, put that around my MSS bag and packed that away.
Like the new mic, David.
$10 is a steal on that insect bar! Thanks for watching
As always David-great stuff, new mic sounds great brother,GOD bless!!
+Duke Sinner Thanks Brother, I'm glad you liked it. I absolutely LOVE the new mic! Be good man Thanks for watching and may God bless you too.
Another great video! The mic seemed to work pretty well.
Always excited to see a new video from you on my feed, keep up the great work!
Clark
Brilliant brother, thanks so much for sharing that.
Big Man in Maine
- Billy
+billy dingo I'm always happy to share Billy and Thanks for watching my friend
thanks for awesome videos. the part numbers you were referring to on the bug nets are called NSN or National Stock Numbers. have a good one.
+Lupe You are very welcome my friend. Now I remember it being called NSN. Thanks for watching
Great video. Just the type of shelter for Florida summer camping that I was looking for this summer. I am going to play around with this shelter to see if it can be rigged for a hammock. Thank you very much for this valuable information.
As always you are consistence with fantastic ideas. Don
+Don Jackson Thank you Don, and Thanks for watching
That is funny first thing I said when you were so far off was " someone got a new toy" so hearing you got a new mic was really funny. Been watching longtime thanks for the fun vids.
+Pwrgek LOL, you guessed it right off the bat! Im glad you have stayed around and watched for so long. Take care and stay tuned for more.
Love the videos and the knowledge gained I really appreciate it keep up the good work
Thats an excellent pack with the frame. Im happy you like the videos!
Very nice Dave! It's like having a hammock set up on the ground....:)
+Glen Neller Thanks Glen , Im glad you liked it. Hee Hee, I guess it is like a ground hammock!
Great looking setup, looks like a quick setup in a pinch!!
+SUFFICIENT SURVIVAL Thanks man! Without filming, it is actually pretty quick to set up. Thanks for watching
Cordless mike worked great! Good video David.
+Alan Waggoner Man I was blown away at that mic! I loved how well it worked. Im happy you liked the vid, Thanks for watching Alan
I got a bug net like yours and I am going to use your setup for it.Time to see your sidekick, you two make a great team.
+Robert Barbour Sounds great Robert! So far, Nick still doesnt want to be on camera but maybe one day.
Webbing already sewed on the space blanket/tarp is a great idea.
+john slack Man its worked out a lot better than adding gromments. Im gonna add them more often. Thanks for watching John.
Hey Dave, I just watched this one again.... My vet friend tells me they are called ''bar'' because they ''bar'' the entry of insects into your enclosure, it is also short for ''barrier ''. Take care, God bless, and CHEERS my friend.
Thanks Steve, thats good to hear that coming from a vet. Thanks for watching and may God bless you too!
nice video keep them coming could do with some nice weather here in England yet another washout good to see you cheers
+Alan Shepley Thanks Alan, Im glad you like it. I hate too much rain. Take care and Thanks for watching
Another great video David. If Daniel Boone was alive today, you would be his hero. I love your videos!
+Steve Elledge Thanks Steve! Im thinking Daniel Boone would want to steal some of my fancy gear. LOL. Thanks for watching Brother
Awesome video man. Thanks a ton.
Nicholas from North Carolina
+Johnny Denton Thanks Nicholas , Im glad you liked it. Greetings back at ya from Georgia.
another great video living in florida this will come handy Thanks
+mute Vosburg Thank you and yes, it will come in very handy with all the bugs in the south. Thanks for watching
Thanks, always enjoyable. I have the other type of bug net, not sure we're I picked it up, but I think I can adapt it.
Thanks for watching
a lot of useful information . THANKS DAVE!!
Thanks Lester!
. great shelter,i want one. i do have a civilian porch style bug net,i could modify that,...thanks for sharing. you make good videos, always good to see someone else's ideas.
