You are comaring gypsy with thar. Gypsey is no doubt is a better car in terms of agility and handling in a highway... bt thar will always rock where there is pretty harsh terrain.. The power to weight ratio of gypsey is higher.. But still there always a disel engine is more prefered in offroading just because of its torque. Torqe is pulling power. If you have bigger number of horse power but you lake torque then you will not be pull yourself out where more pulling power is needed.. You talk about gasoline engines like one in the gypsey will deliver more horse power naturally.. If you need to move faster then horse power come into play. If you stuck in a rough terrain torque will pull you out of it..

These 2.5l turbo diesels r torque monster. U know how much load they haul back in india. This is the most reliable engines ever made. They just dont quit..
India recently make it illegal or restricted on modifications, so that takes away the fun from this tiny monster. In America we can turn this into dream beast.
