Just got back from Riggs. Just outstanding! Rained all 3 afternoons we were there. Nothing better than an afternoon nap with my doggies to the sound of rain on the tent!
Lake is well maintained and the bathrooms are exceptionally clean.
I quite enjoyed the dirt portion of the road. I have a 4wd Pathfinder so no worries about it. I wouldn't attempt bringing a trailer camper up there though. Just all around not really ideal for that type of thing.

I camped up there in 2017 in a little popup trailer. Just an amazing campground. It was a full moon when I camped and it was so bright you couldn't look at it without sunglasses. There were tons of bold skunks surrounding our camp trying to get at our food. My dog got skunked. The drive up and down is something, sheer cliffs pretty crazy. Great place.
FYI: Just back from Mt Graham, the dirt road to Riggs Flat is so bad our utility trailer was literally being torn apart. Had to turn around and spend the night in Shannon Campground where we met a nice couple who also had to turn a round as the terrible road was tearing up their camp trailer. We spent a lot of money and time preparing to spend 3 days fishing from canoes at Riggs Flat, and are very disappointed that the road is a disaster, and we could not get to the lake. We talked to one forest service guy and he agreed the last 12 miles of dirt is way past needing a road grader run over it. And by the way, there was a brand new ADOT road grader sitting parked half way up the mountain, but no one lifting a hand to use it. July, 2023

no, its a dirt road though
