I was 13-14 years old, getting thoroughly into metal, and got this album. At the time, it was the absolutely ideal music for me- symphonic, intricate, near-classical with a hint of film/game music... and metal! Still holds up :D
I was 15 years old when I discovered Bal-Sagoth. I was awestruck and it is one of the few bands I still come back to. Really unique and powerful music. Years upon years of enjoyment. Hail from Turkey!
The song that introduced me to Bal-Sagoth, and I've never found another band like them! Thank you for the great music; I'm always transported to the worlds described in the lyrics; it's awesome!
I have left metal behind mostly. Been in there for a decade. Can't take much of it these days. But you know what? Bal Sagoth still rocks my ass like a jackhammer on crack. Thank you for not following conventions, thank you for creating unique music, thank you for being creative and epic! If you'd run for presidential elections, i'd vote for ya!
Then I have a remedy for you gents. The band is entitled RUNSHARD. These guys are the spiritual successor of Bal Sagoth. PLEASE SUPPORT these guys from Hungary. It wont disappoint.
Someone once claimed BAL SAGOTH was the last legitimately innovative metal act. And I'd honestly agree to that completely. It isn't solely that the music is brilliant, it's the amount of conviction that they had. They totally believed it in.
In case you guys didnt know. KULL is another band that plays like Bal Sagoth. Simply because it is the boys of Bal Sagoth. All except for Byron. Check em out.
Most underrated band of all time imo
This is called a tale from deep-ah woods-ah!
