If you used larger floor timbers instead of 2x 6 , you could have lost the support chain , you also could have tied the top part of the structure to the tree as well to compensate for the movement , of course the structure would need some shear wall design ( plywood ) to accomplish this. Overall , nice , except for the chain.
There is a tree house somewhere in the binghamton n.y. area that I saw pictures of ...the carpenter's last name was mirabito. And that's all I know. It should be here...its fantastic!
Are the chains doing all the supporting? The most important part is the support and did not really see that. Just chains? or am i missing the something.. but it is nice. I have put chains on my tree and over time it ending up cutting the tree. and that was just a swing.
Dude, it looks great and all but I would have built it 10-12 feet higher in the tree, you already have it up on stilts, the size of the tree limbs wont matter and you will have more room inside the house. Mine is a deck not a house but its 23 feet up in the tree with only one post.
I am in the process of builing my kids a fort next to a tree with my workshop underneath today i put in the wiring and a/c unit hopefully soon i get to insulate and sheet rock and install the hardwood floor and flatscreen tv and surround sound unit. My isn't as cool but it is built on a pirate theme. And the only window is the jolly roger flag i made on plexiglas

What techniques do you use to make the house completely supported via the tree? I notice in the beginning of development you have stilts supporting the structure and then remove them. This is pretty slick although I'm sure it's completely illegal where I live.
Looks amazing, but I couldn't help to notice just how much space is lost due to the tree being enclosed, and so many limbs.. Sure, creative spacing, I bet alot of great ideas, but for something so well constructed I just can't see why not build higher up.. The tree house could then had been surrounded by the tree limbs.. Not the Limbs surrounded by the house?.. Just my thoughts, but looks amazing
