@@jpsflyfishing Have you ever tried Stjørdalselva? That is my river of choice since 2020. Extremely good deal per number of pools vs. price. Plenty of salmon.
@@paweltt no, I’ve only fished the Orkla abroad and most of the UK Salmon rivers.. I would be keen to visit more rivers in Norway though, the quality we’ve seen so far is brilliant. Where do you get tickets and info, Elveguiden?!
Awesome video! I was fishing there the same week as you, just a little further downstream. It was similarly slow, but such a great experience nonetheless. Losing all track of time under the "midnight sun" and casting into the early morning is an experience like no other. Thanks for sharing!
Great video. I am planning to go to Orkla for the first time this summer. I'm curious about the beat at 9:30 in your video. I would appreciate it if you could let me know. It is scheduled for late July to early August. I plan to travel the same way as you.^^
The first pool with all the people and the main shelter was ruined by the spring flood 3 years ago and is basicly no longer holding fish wich is a pity since it used to be pretty good. The end of the season when you where there brought another huge flood so it will be interesting to see if the fish wil hold there again this year.
Not really, the deeper part out from the whitwater moved a little and changed the current in the entire pool and the salmon didnt like it. The huge stone between the shelter and the rapid wasnt like that earlier and that caused the problem imo. We couldnt see it earlier and now it's above the surface @@jpsflyfishing
Al said he saw it jump at the start and estimated it around 15 - 20lb and considering average fish that week is around 16lb, why not… He put a lot of pressure on it at the end to try and stop it getting in to that faster water below, if it leaves the pool there, it’s going back to sea 😂 I hope your fishing is going well, I saw you’ve been catching a few from your UA-cam videos 🎣
@@jpsflyfishingI’ve been chasing some trout in the swollen rivers here. Small rods for small fish. Looking forward to watching you guys hook into another big one.
Hi I fished Norway 2004 and hopefully going back next year. Was looking at fishing the orkla, looked at few beats grindal been one of them.. what roughly was the cost for your week if you don’t mind me asking.🎣🎣
Thanks for the info n reply.. your wooden lodge is like what I stayed in and tbh was ideal. Iym probably like you guys I was there for the fishing not bothered bout 5 star accommodation 🎣tigh lines
@@darenrayson7052 yeh, it was really good and perfect for the weeks fishing. The beats are a lot busier than in the UK generally but places like Grindal offer some more private fishing I guess but that comes with a higher price… whatever you do, I’m sure you’ll have a good experience. Tight lines, James
Great video guys thanks! I have been fishing that pool in 2019.
Thanks mate, it’s great fishing, can’t sit to get back there next season!

Ah brilliant, which beat were you on? We are heading back this summer but on the Gaula this time..
Great video
Thanks!
Great video and i can relate to fishing in Norway and casting away all night right up to minutes before you have to leave for home.
Thanks Colin, it would be easy to miss a flight whilst fishing the Orkla, always thinking that the next cast will be the one…

It’s on a beat called Forve, tickets are available at the petrol station next to it. Enjoy your trip

That's interesting, I'm guessing some of the deeper holes were filled in during said flood. Here's hoping for some decent catches this season

i were fishing at orkla 2 summers ago i lived in the same cabin. its a really nice place to fish down there
Nice casting and good fish on!
Thanks Michael, we only need to wait a year for another chance 😫
It was a great trip though!
I would love to fish that river!
It’s awesome, I’m sure you’d enjoy this one…
Brilliant mate😊
Great video that first fish looked to have some weight in it, so unlucky i thought he was well hooked .

Nice video. You guys worked hard for those tugs. What I really want to know is how you both got a week off from your new jobs. Cheers from Colorado.
Thanks Mark, how is your fishing atm? We work hard and then fish hard 🤷🏻♂️
@@jpsflyfishingI’ve been chasing some trout in the swollen rivers here. Small rods for small fish. Looking forward to watching you guys hook into another big one.
What size rod were you guys using?
A few different rods featured from 13'6 to 14'9 but think the smaller of those were the main ones we used on this trip.

@@jpsflyfishing hello, what site or address did you book your week's fishing on?
@@johngraham5996 hi John, we used Elveguiden.no to find our fishing and then booked the accommodation, flight, car etc individually
What does a week like this cost?
I think it was around £1200 per person all in. Organised ourselves and some shared costs like rental car and accommodation.
Seemed like a fair size fish lost there ! Always next time.
Yeh, I think it was a decent size, we are off again but to the Gaula this time in June so fingers crossed for more chances..
Great video, shame you lost those fish
Thanks, it was great fishing but found it to be a difficult week, it’s a shame about the fish but we’ll be back next year to try again..
