Along with military defeats in their east with Japan, the Tsar having three daughters before he ever got a son. The Tsar had 2 things to do, first expand the Russian Empire and second produce a male heir. Once the last Tsar finally had a male heir, he was born with a life threatening condition. Great program but you did not, unless I missed it, mention the struggles Peter and Catherine had with the boyars, the old Russian nobility. They dealt with them ingeniously. I believe Peter made them shave their beards!
oh, these western historians who read the Russian official books 😅 let me tell you that your entire knowledge is on the level of the 10th grade high school student😂. so funny to listen to all these professors reminds me of school days 😂
Thanks I learned alot and filled in holes , smiles Billy D
These troop numbers are almost not believable .. How do you feed an army of 500,000 men? What about water? lol ... Did these guys get payed
They did get payed it’s called looting the enemy population (there’s also an actual system of payments but only given after the campaign ends) as for supplies ( food&Water) you take from the locals that’s how it was back in the 19th century and before the invention of 20th century military industrial production and supply.
You mean the size of Napoleon's army?
Most sources agree that the Grande Armée which invaded Russia was of more than 500000 European troops. It was the largest army that Europe has ever seen, up until that point. But Napoleon and his Generals weren't capable of keeping this army properly supplied.
this documentary made by Ukraine
we don't need your western explanation our RUSSIA. 🎉😮
Truth conquers.
The great country , great power ,
This is a brilliant documentary.
I thought I knew a bit about history.
But I did not realise that Russia had invaded Estonia etc and founded St Petersburg.
One day Estonia might take it back!
💯💯💯👏👏👏
Except there wasn’t no Estonia back then, but they were just a part of the Sweden Kingdom
come to russia and get your land - 2,5m²
Население Питербурга 6 миллионов человек,население Эстонии около миллиона,возможно скоро Питербург вернет свой задний дворик)))
Good documentary however way too many ads, it's almost unwatchable. The ads are annoying me to the point of moving on to something else to watch.
I hated the idea of youtube premium until i got it. Honestly, watching documentaries etc is now very enjoyable
Use a different web browser and install an adblocker. Problem solved.

What was said wrong tell us ?
Russian Russian, I declare that the attacks on the poor Crimean Tatars who have SIMPLY been driving Russians into slavery for centuries are the most important crimes in the history of mankind
Wow.
I never heard of this Tatar ran slavery of Russians
FUN FACTOID; the French && the Germans invaded Russia June 22 and June 23: overwhelming numbers of soldiers did no good; both suffered huge defeats...DON t invade Russia seems to be the lesson..

This video lacks information on an important war during Russian imperialist expansion, the Seven Years War (1756-1763), in which Russian forces under Empress Elizaveta defeated the foremost military commander of the age, Frederick the Great of Prussia.
It's a competition to me. But all the power in the world. Japan defeated Russia.
This doco is hilarious
Aren't they all?
The soldier's on the thumbnail are British.
Yes, we are ruthless and barbarians, be afraid of us.
Israel, England... is looking around
It’s pretty funny that the expansion from Muscow to the pacific is glossed over but the capture of the small territories of narva and crimea are enough to make Peter and Catherine ‘greats’ of Russian history 😂 wtf.
If the point that is said is true, my troath is tickest cut it lol.. good storry for good readers.. but the points and contest is fake.. thanks
Why is this on a crime channel?

Putin comparing himself to historical figures such as Peter the great ? F knows what goes through his head 😕 ?
Is this a history of Russia or Vladimir putin.
Bizar?
It's funny how the best rulers of Imperial Russia were actually female AND German.
Where tf is Ivan?
Off being great at being terrible 😂😮😢
Pathetic these little men who think they can just walk in and take over someone homeland and do as they please all with out consequences as we see Vladimir Putin doing today. NO RESPECT
Missing 500+ expansi
on years. Probably because Peter was pro-west, it is a better spin for an english speaking audience. Hence, incomplete and very selective covered period wise...
Wait the ruler of Russia left and took a job in a shipyard ? lol
Peter the Great was the one ruler who didn't make excuses for Russian backwardness, he fixed rather than scapegoating and inflicting punishment like every Russian leader before or since. Had there been subsequent Peter the Greats every other generation Russia might have made better use of the territory it had rather than preying on plunderered infrastructure in Europe, Russia wouldn't be as much at risk of terminal collapse but how much sympathy is due a thief? If it were up to me I'd make them choose whether they want to be a European power or an Asiatic one because they've demonstrated repeatedly they can't be both and do it responsibly. Siberia has more than enough resources to sustain itself as an independent nation. The biggest obstacle to the development of Siberia is and has always been the influence of Moscow in their lives.
Russia is a separate civilization, and it does not want to be either the West or the East, it wants to be Russia. good luck.
russia basically always lost when they couldnt rely on their harsh winters or had to fight on their own.
This is your Russophobic dream. But Russia brought Sweden to its knees...)
Russia mortally wounded the Sweden Empire and killed the most Nazis.
Vice versa. Every time Russia won there were allies who appeared in the last second but claiming they were bearing the biggest burden of the war although doing almost nothing.
Bla bla
@@alexbort3082 When and who for example? Dont say WW2 russia wouldve gotten annihilated without the support from the West, not to mention that they had by far the worst ratio of total soldiers vs fallen soldier. None of the big armies did worse than russia.
