I really love my Flip5! Its compact, stylish and very comfortable to use. A little trick i have come to learn about the finger print scanner. Since it scans your print when the phone is "open" the finger print will be "upside down" when the phone is closed. so when i scanned my print, it wouldnt read it when the phone was closed. I rescanned my print with the phone udpside down, so now when the phone is closed the print is right side up. Ive had zero problems unlocking the phone since i did it. Hope that made sense!!
When I bought my Flip 5, they had the S23 Ultra in store as well and I just had in my hands for a short moment. But this short moment was enough to know: no, that is not something I want to carry around all day long. See, I don't give a sh*t about smartphone cams, they are all less than mediocre even compared to a decent compact camera, so that doesn't matter for me anyway. And the cam in the Flip is completely fine. What else? They are both super fast and have the newest tech. So I don't understand why you call the S23 ultra "the better phone". But the S23 is a brick. While the Flip I can use one-handed and that alone is a killer feature for me. I'm not on Instagram or any other Social media, I'm not constantly playing around with my phone. I need it for simple tasks such as changing music tracks or playlist, looking up a timetable, or starting a public transportation ride. And for that the cover screen of the Flip is perfectly fine. Even when I'm at home I often use the Flip in its folded state, simply because I can do things a lot faster using just my thumb. For the rare moments I really do need a bigger screen: no problem, just unfold it. And the inner screen is breathtaking.
Good pointsThough this is a 9 month old comment, this could be applicable to the z flip 6, but then why spend almost, or over 1000$ if you don't use all of the features?
Flip 5 is hands down the best phone I've ever had got can do everything on the front screen with Goodluck instead of paying for a smart watch and a phone just to look at the watch then reply on your phone

The fingerprint sensor on my Z Flip5 works fine for me, better than any other device I've used. I have not seen the sunglass effect you described. I used my original Z Flip for over 3 years and it was still in great condition when I upgraded to the Z Flip 5, so I feel the durability is good if you don't abuse the device. What I love about the Z Flip5 is that it fits so nicely in my pocket, and the admiration of others who see my phone. And the outer screen is very useful and convenient.
I owned the first zflip and used it for 3 years and trade in to get their promo discount for the zflip 5. It is how you use it if you want to have it for a long period of time. Love your thoughts on this, different perspective.
Great video. You make a great point at the end regarding the S23 Ultra. However, I like the flip for the ease of carrying a small device in my pocket. To me, that's a key component, so I will stick with the flip. Again, love the video and your content. Thanks!

I traded my S22U for the Filp5. I also sold my S23U and kept my favorite phone this year, the P7P as my daily. I originally intended to use the Flip5 as my backup but I enjoy it so much it's become my daily and the P7P as my backup. I've owned the Flip3 before and sold that one after a week of use. @05zianne At first it does but once you get the apps you want on your cover screen you barley open it the cover screen is very useful except for games
At this point you are trying to disapprove of this phone rather than how good it is. @@DayoAworunse I enjoyed your review, and your honest opinion, but it is important to distinguish that an opinion is just that, an.opinion, the personal experience can for sure be utilized as informative, but it’s not objective. I disagree with your assessment on the durability and long term use of the flip 5. This phone has endured EXCESSIVE wear and tear testing. The phone was folded 400,000 times, also submerged in water while being folded 1000s of times, it was covered in cake batter, covered in dust and rocks and after all of that, and going over being folded over 400,000 times, it finally died. There are also videos by jerryrig, who burned the phone with a lighter, cut it with the razor (You’ve seen his video, bc you referenced him here) and it survived. Let’s not also forget the fact that when this phone was being tested, it was being folded EXCESSIVELY every second, creating heat which would exacerbate whatever dmg to the hinge, as opposed to opening it here and there for normal civilian use, and this phone still survived. I don’t even think ( I could be wrong ) that any candy bar phone like the I phone could’ve survived being dunked in water, being man handled every second and covered and marinated in dust particles and cake batter without sustaining some sort of malfunction after the fact. This flip 5 has major durability and sustainability that could logically pass 5 years if taken care of.

Love my flip 5. primary reason for getting this is the compactness and the cover screen. the fingerprint sensor is working fine with my phone. the crease on the screen is evident when there's bright light. otherwise, it is not noticeable for me when using it for viewing, writing and even watching videos. I guess my eyes got used to it. in terms of durability, I think it depends on how you use or take care of your phone.

Nice review! It's crazy how people were getting mad when someone posts a video shot in portrait orientation just a few years ago and now, that is the preferred format for social media. People are fickle! I agree, I'd go with the Ultra. The Flip is cute and is great for peeps who don't use their phone in a very demanding way, but for any power user, the choice is clear.
It's obviously not going to be as good a powerhouse as the 23 ultra, but the trade off is the size. For me, it's worth it. I'm not a videographer nor do I game with my phone, and I don't think most people do. But ultimately it's what you want from a phone, portability or power.
Ive come to the realization as much as I love the note, and even thought I use all of the features the size, and weight are not beneficial to me. so this smaller form factor is much more enjoyable. Plus closing the lid has a psychological effect on that causes me to use my phone less.
You're def right, my flip 5 is not a long term keeper, its my first flip phone, with trade in deal it was worth moving from the iphone 13. I think I'll trade in this flip 5 for the S24 plus or ultra next year.. sucks that only samsung and google are the only real options in NA these days for Android.

Since the sensor and volume are alternating whenever you are using the phone either close or open...The trick to consistent fingerprint(s) unlock is....When registering...try to registered by ALTERNATING your fingers the normal way AND then flip your finger upside down for the same finger...etc. Try it...mine is unlocking FAST & CONSISTENT !
OK Me Myself 2 months after this Video.... Making a Comment In the Month of NOVEMBER 2023 I picked the ZFlip 5 Over S23 ultra toe to toe because I'm tired of Big Bulk heavy Bricks in my pocket.. absolutely Love The Flip5 at 51 years old
*waves* I'm one of the three spec people, lol. I also want to know usage and durability before I make a choice, but knowing what to expect from the hardware itself is an important part of tech purchases. I'm also oldschool and prefer horizontal, but more than anything in the world I want a tiny phone back and plan to use the outer screen for 90% of my use. I'm only entertaining the flip because I desire compact portability over all else. If the rest is "good enough" for a modern phone, I'm sold.
Have a s23 ultra but am receiving a z flip 5 today. Never had a foldable yet so looking forward to it. Have worn utube out reading about all info so I think I am aware of most of it's short comings. I think I will enjoy the size versus the s23 ultra. Guess time will tell. Enjoyed your video.
The flip 5 makes me want a flip 2.5... just a small screen that I can use maybe 5-6 android apps and then if I want to do more plug it into a larger display that is more ipad mini sized or fold sized. The flip is great for just running around and not needlessly being on my phone all day. It's there if I need it but I am less likely to get detracted when checking something using the outside display.
@@sulena8823 Seems more environmentally friendly that the screens would be independent of the computer but that is exactly what is not happening. Everything is integrated and actual general-purpose computers are not something we only need in some settings.
The average hinge and screens on the Galaxy flips have been shown to last way over 200,000 flips so that's 80 flips a day for over 7 years .....yeah i think that's more than enough for most people.
I honestly love my z flip 5, the form factor is pretty sweet easy to slide in my pocket and to hold in my hands, the butter display is also awesome when it comes to taking great selfies, being able to just change my music from the outter display is pretty great, everything about the phone is awesome but yeah the in display fingerprint scanner is way more better than the side button scanner.
This is actually very informative 🤔 I've been trying to figure out whether I actually want to switch from my s21+ to something else cause it's been years, and I was tempted by flip5. I might be able to love the flexibility, size, and outer display, but I don't think I'd like the whole inside screen experience, especially since I play lots of games LoL I don't need the outer display for my games 😂 The outer display will be nice if I have to use the timer in personal tests, but I don't think it helps a lot in a big class where I have to show the timer (yes, I'm a teacher😂). Anyway, thanks for the review! That's definitely food for thoughts 🤔
The best answer to the fingerprint is to get it to print your fingerprints upside down as well as the correct way, that means when your phone is closed you can still operate the outside screen
Many people miss the point. The Flip fits in your pocket and has the whole flagship (almost) gear for people like me (total power user and pro artist) bring on the upgrades ... the Flip rocks!
Have one, fingerprint is working 9/10 times. The face unlock works 7,8/10. Not sure if your unit is not working properly. The thing with sunglasses, isnt a issue here either, hmm. The hinge issue again seems like a broken unit, not a issue here either. Just my experince of course, great review btw.
The finger print is like 100% accurate even so fast sometimes that I accidentally unlock the phone when I just slight get in the area of it. Saying it is the fastest most accurate finger print I have used. Face unlock is a little more iffy it needs to be almost perfect alighted with the face.
I'm glad you brought up the sunglasses thing it is super annoying didn't get a headache but it is a thing . Great review. I like the phone alot just something different than my usual 23u brick
From someone who own the th Motorola razr 2020 an samsung z flip 4 Motorola was far better picture quality an the outer display you can practically do anything advantage of samsung feels more durable downside the main screen in the Motorola went green after a year plus the center had a bump where it closes visible when open after 5 months of use the samsung presently after 14 months the main screen now start to flicker green plus it shot of when close at 90 degrees so eventually that will go An those main screen ain't cheap, overall don't expect these fold phone to last more than 16 months before the main screen starts to give problems much faster if you are using it constantly
I have multiple fingers registered, and each one, I just made sure I used a variety of finger area and positioning. Just think about all the different ways you just grab your phone.
Here is Brazil, today the flip5 is the same price as S23! How about it? S23 plus and S23 ultra, S22.ultra are not comparable since the price are way higher (discount is only on s23 and flip5). I will buy one today but the decision is just not so simple. What would you do?
Obviously people want the front camera for snapchat and other apps that requires it. From what I can tell there is no way to enable the back screen while using the camera in snapchat, making it extremely hard to take a selfie not having a front camera. Unless you go out of your way and download the multitask from good lock, which only prob 20% will do anyways.
I asked at my phone store what he thought about the samsung flip and the guy was really shifty but then said: let's just say that this phone is the one that we have in here for repairs the most 😅
The main reason why I chose to go with the Z Fold 5 is because I wanted the 1/2 tablet viewing experience while being entertained on the go... As far as the Z Flip 5, it just doesn't do it for me in terms of screen viewing real estate for easy screen reading or physical handling in my hands... and besides that, its lack of S Pen 🖊 support!
The major problem with a flip phone of any kind is that you have to unflip it about 50-100 times a day for several years of use which is work gone to waste - in other word impractical.
@@DayoAworunse that's good to know! Btw bro, I just want to take the time to thank you for validating your videos on the recent Pixel lineup has been for me. I had a flip 3 It broke after only a year and I put up with the broken screen until I couldn't anymore I have a s23U and have no complaints except for the weird spots on the screen where the adhesive is Otherwise... samsung sold me exactly what they promised. The best phone they have ever made. Never stutters Battery life lasts all day The fast chargers live up to the name The screen is just downright beautiful. It's like a TV in my hands
I wouldnt buy the phone. Just replaced mine-insurance & warranty did not help-they stated I would have to pay for the full price of the phone to fix it. I ended up getting a new, basic phone-something that works. The screens/hinges got messed up & stopped working. The only screen that works is the display while its closed. I got the phone brand new, had it for 6 going on 7 months.
I plan to buy this phone as a present for new year and I only have one concern, do cold temperatures affect the screen in any way. I live in a place where the temperature can hit -32°C in winter. If I open the flip phone outside will it kind of ruin the screen?
Flip phones in general are to be avoid because they are expensive to repair, hinge issues with dirt, creases in screen over time, screen easily damaged and over all initial price. Just get a normal phone and an iPad mini for those things needing a bigger screen. You don't need everything on your one phone.

So glad I saw this because I was totally contemplating this (and the s23 ultra) I’ve been an iPhone user since the 4s and I just can’t switch 😂
Why can't you switch?
Sad life locked on that limited ecosystem
OK Me Myself 2 months after this Video.... Making a Comment In the Month of NOVEMBER 2023 I picked the ZFlip 5 Over S23 ultra toe to toe because I'm tired of Big Bulk heavy Bricks in my pocket.. absolutely Love The Flip5 at 51 years old
Its the polarized sunglasses you must be wearing is why you get the rainbow affect. Put on non polarized 👌
I've had the Flip 3 for two years, and it's still good, no issues.
I know the Flip 5 will be even better.
How do you like it?
This is the most fun and straightforward review I’ve watched so far! Subscribed!
I honestly was thinking the same thing. Like I want it to help me not be on my phone often but idk how well that would work.
@@sulena8823 Seems more environmentally friendly that the screens would be independent of the computer but that is exactly what is not happening. Everything is integrated and actual general-purpose computers are not something we only need in some settings.
Maybe use good lock and you can use all your apps u muppet
The average hinge and screens on the Galaxy flips have been shown to last way over 200,000 flips so that's 80 flips a day for over 7 years .....yeah i think that's more than enough for most people.
Might eventually try a flip phone when they put a bigger battery in it, but now its 1000mAh lower than the S23+
And a fake moon mode
I honestly love my z flip 5, the form factor is pretty sweet easy to slide in my pocket and to hold in my hands, the butter display is also awesome when it comes to taking great selfies, being able to just change my music from the outter display is pretty great, everything about the phone is awesome but yeah the in display fingerprint scanner is way more better than the side button scanner.
Amen! “The novelty. That’s it.” Somebody finally said it 😅
??? novelty?
LoL no. It is about portability. You know the main reason for a phone...
Not sure why so many have trouble understanding that.
This is actually very informative 🤔 I've been trying to figure out whether I actually want to switch from my s21+ to something else cause it's been years, and I was tempted by flip5. I might be able to love the flexibility, size, and outer display, but I don't think I'd like the whole inside screen experience, especially since I play lots of games LoL I don't need the outer display for my games 😂
The outer display will be nice if I have to use the timer in personal tests, but I don't think it helps a lot in a big class where I have to show the timer (yes, I'm a teacher😂).
When Samsung creates an A series flip phone, then it'll be ready for prime time. Not worth paying over $500 for at the moment in my opinion.
Thanks for an excellent presentation and objective as well as subjective assessment of the Flip
Thanks for a honest review, bro 👍
Thanks for the honest comment
PLEASSEEE consider moving back to the old kitchen set up 😭😭😭
It was so cozy my guy
i clicked coz i thought you were the dude from black panther but i stayed coz great and informative video cheers mate
I'm glad you brought up the sunglasses thing it is super annoying didn't get a headache but it is a thing . Great review. I like the phone alot just something different than my usual 23u brick
Only polarized sunglasses.
Mt flip 5 has has a loose feeling hinge since day 1. It’s by design.
Thanks for the video in leaving Apple and I was debating on getting the flip 5 or just go for the s23 ultra
I bought it for my business phone. Liking it alot.
register your same finger 2 or 3 times. that will fix the problem.
I have multiple fingers registered, and each one, I just made sure I used a variety of finger area and positioning. Just think about all the different ways you just grab your phone.
Good job on this review. I appreciate it.
Great, review. I have z flip 5 and I love it. I have a tiny handbag and it fits perfectly, plus, I work from home, so I don't use the phone too much.
The "sponsored by nobody" bit is worth the like by itself 😂
I like the way you keep it real man.
I appreciate ya
I love this phone ❤ can’t wait for the next release!
Love your content, thanks for always giving us factss
Thank you for your review!! I agree the S23 Ultra is an amazing phone!
I personally ordered the moto razr because of the noticeable crease on flip 5
Here is Brazil, today the flip5 is the same price as S23! How about it? S23 plus and S23 ultra, S22.ultra are not comparable since the price are way higher (discount is only on s23 and flip5). I will buy one today but the decision is just not so simple. What would you do?
Obviously people want the front camera for snapchat and other apps that requires it. From what I can tell there is no way to enable the back screen while using the camera in snapchat, making it extremely hard to take a selfie not having a front camera. Unless you go out of your way and download the multitask from good lock, which only prob 20% will do anyways.
This is a great review! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Lol. I love the out takes! And the video is great too. Thanks.
It is all about that outer display for me. :)
Props to nobody for sponsoring this video
I asked at my phone store what he thought about the samsung flip and the guy was really shifty but then said: let's just say that this phone is the one that we have in here for repairs the most 😅
Over 1000 bucks no dex I'm sticking with s22 ultra I might upgrade to s24 ultra
That's it am done on this, was going to take a pop but your honest review has enlighten my decision - am staying mainstream
Totally agree I had 4 now 5 definitely better
The major problem with a flip phone of any kind is that you have to unflip it about 50-100 times a day for several years of use which is work gone to waste - in other word impractical.
The flip 5 is just so awesome. I love it. Had it about a month now and won't go to any other phone
I can now finally be one of them people to say i got the zflip 5 and i love it and i will never be going back
So can you flip the phone open with one hand like a Star Trek communicator?
You can
Have you had any issues or headaches regarding sunglasses and your S23 Ultra? I'm wondering if what you encountered was PWM sensitivity.
I have not had that at all with the s23 ultra
@@DayoAworunse that's good to know! Btw bro, I just want to take the time to thank you for validating your videos on the recent Pixel lineup has been for me. I have a P6Pro, have had it since launch and wanted to love it, but it's been the worst smartphone experience for me possibly in forever. But everywhere else, I feel like I've been attacked for talking about my problems and looking for solutions. So to hear you speak honestly about it meant a lot and it made you worthy of a sub. Please keep it up!
Great video but i will stick to the flip 5. My wife and i love it. Fits easily in our pocket, small purse etc.. and for the most part i don't even have to open it to use it.
Already did and I really like it.
So I'm trading in my S23 Ultra and have a Flip 5 coming in a few days......hope I don't regret it.🙈
Great review! Been thinking of getting a flip phone, more so the Motorola one, but I think I might just stick with my standard phone. I think the Flips might be too thick for my jeans pocket also.
I have only noticed the rainbow effect with polarized sunglasses
Nice video! What brand is your mic?
Got the 4 will wait for the 6.
It's a novelty phone. I have the flip5 and the ultra, and I like the ultra better.
I had a flip 3
It broke after only a year and I put up with the broken screen until I couldn't anymore
I have a s23U and have no complaints except for the weird spots on the screen where the adhesive is
Otherwise... samsung sold me exactly what they promised.
The best phone they have ever made.
Never stutters
Battery life lasts all day
The fast chargers live up to the name
The screen is just downright beautiful.
Great video!, thanks
I plan to buy this phone as a present for new year and I only have one concern, do cold temperatures affect the screen in any way. I live in a place where the temperature can hit -32°C in winter. If I open the flip phone outside will it kind of ruin the screen?
Hey new subie here, great content btw!, just wanted to ask why don't you think it can't be used in the long run. 🇬🇧
Your glasses are probably polarized.. does the same with all phones. With non polarized lenses, the rainbow issue is gone.
Flip phones in general are to be avoid because they are expensive to repair, hinge issues with dirt, creases in screen over time, screen easily damaged and over all initial price.
Just get a normal phone and an iPad mini for those things needing a bigger screen.
You don't need everything on your one phone.
i had zflip 4 for 1 year and now im using iphone 14pro. Flip phones are the way to go. for me, it didnt give me any issue
Nobody is made of money
You got that right
