Steven Universe is such a great show. Early season 1 is a kids show for sure but it evolves into something so much more. Love Like You is a BRILLIANT song from the show
So true, but you forgot that season 1 is full of heartbreaking moments when you rewatch it after finishing the show. It's a masterpiece. In my own opinion it is the same level as my two other favorites, Game of thrones and Hannibal. I know this show stopped a handful of people I knew from comiting suicide including me. Here comes a thought is a song I still use to calm myself when I have panic attacks.
@@iannickolas2990 that’s why I just said early season 1, it gets fantastic once it finds its footing it’s just the first few episodes can be difficult to get into as an adult, it’s one of my favorite shows as well and the early episodes become more charming in the context of the show as a whole but without that context it can come off childish. And let’s be real Cat Fingers and Frybo can really put anyone off if they aren’t encouraged to stick it out lol
@@cass1857 Fribo and Pearl omg 🤣 but yeah, I only started really liking it during the end of season one and was addicted as soon as the second one started. Am I crazy if one of the musts for my future partner is to watch that show with me. I have yet to find anyone mature enough to get past the childish look. By that, I mean that the one who has watched the most has only seen the music intro.
I like adventure time way more tho tbh
Season 1-3 good.
Season 4: Eh bad and good.
Season 5: Oh god the plot contrivances, due to Cartoon Network cutting the show.
Future: Could be better but I liked it.
This show talks about alot.
Trauma, PTSD, broken families, grief, intrusive thoughts, identity, relationships and so much more.
Its not just a kids show, its a masterpiece.
The intrusive thoughts part is just peridot pushing Greg off the barn

@@fancymustache3793It’s target audience is kids but that doesn’t mean adults can’t enjoy it. It’s meant for like the 11-14 range but I know many adults and older kids who like it.
Children are way more mature than you think. I remember watching this when I was a lot younger and even then I knew it was beautiful. Children want to be moved, they want to feel things, they want to cry just like any adult. Children aren't stupid, they just lack context on life but they want to learn
The voice actress here, Deedee Magno Hall, is a well known musical theatre performer, and I think that experience lends a lot to her ability to express herself through singing. She has a lot of great songs in this show.

Fun fact the singer deedee sang it so well they had to re animate it to fit it better

Steven Universe it’s great! This song is the best song from the show, and while this comes from The Musical Episode, there’s musical numbers every now and then trough the series. I recommend checking Here Comes A Thought, and (only if you don’t plan on watching and don’t mind spoilers) For Just One Day Let’s Only Think About Love.

A lot of kids shows have way deeper themes than you'd expect, and I honestly don't think it's wasted on kids at all haha
Teaching kids to deal with stuff like grief and anxiety and love and growing up is basically the CORE of this kind of show, and it's why it's loved so much by people of every generation. I think you'd really enjoy the show, and you should absolutely watch it whether you choose to react to it on here or not!
Patti LuPone & Christine Ebersole are in this show, Estelle is in the main cast, Nicky Minaj made a cameo, We also have Susan Egan (Megara from Hercules) and a few other talented singers. The show is stacked with talent.

Steven Universe was an experience in so many ways.
Definitely give the full version of "Love Like You" a shot! Absolutely beautiful piece made as Steven Universe's ending theme every episode. Plus the song itself holds a lot of sincere context for how Steven's mom felt about his dad.
Oh this song :'( Steven Universe was not a musical but is did have lots of songs here and there.. I would say is an adventure show for kids and it also has some little "heavier" and serious topics... I would love to see a reaction to Do it for her and Stronger than you.. and all the songs in the other commets

Steven Universe is marvelous, and it has so many wonderful songs! So happy to see this featured here! The voice actress for Pearl (a major character throughout) is Deedee Magno Hall. The show itself… pretty groundbreaking. Like others have said, the first season has somewhat of a different tone but it evolved over time. So worth watching.
Steven Universe deals with a lot of different types of relationships. It is a bit off the wall and weird, but the themes are about how to handle different kinds of friendships, love and family. It also deals with the idea of restorative rather than retributive justice, which makes it a bit controversial as even the worst villains get a chance to mend their ways and work to repair the damage they've caused. It has a lot of great lessons for kids and they're quite sophisticated.
Thing with Pearl (the singer) is that she had a really unhealthy attachment to Rose, the woman she's singing about, and hasn't ever really dealt with her grief or her love for her. So it's not just healthy relationships they look at. There's also Garnet, who is a 'fusion' or metaphorical relationship between two tiny lesbians.
Steven has to navigate everyone's expectations of him, his relationship to a parent he never knew and eventually the resulting trauma from having all this put on him from a young age.
It was ahead of its time. A bit clumsy sometimes, to be sure, but definitely one of my favourites. The risks it took made it easier to make complicated and queer cartoons for kids later on. She Ra and Owl House wouldn't exist without it.
My sister made me watch this and wasn’t into it at first but I fell in love with it. I literally sobbed multiple times during the series
Steven universe has amazing lessons in it for a show geared for children. I wish I had a show like this when I was young. I relate so much to the main character steven. And I have always loved musicals from a young age so starting this show as a teenager I was instantly in love with the amazing music it has throughout its entirety. An amazing show every child must watch.

This is still my favorite music on SU, her voice is beautiful and this scene has so much emotion, even after those years this one aged so damn well with the story.

Here Comes a Thought is another visually stunning number, with the main vocals from Estelle.
Steven Universe is such a fantastic show! The early episodes in season one are very episodic and often very goofy. However, about halfway through season one the wider story starts to reveal itself. 😊
It’s not a musical show, like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, as most episodes don’t have musical numbers. However many do, and they’re all pretty fantastic!
This particular song is from a magnificent episode in season 4 that just went 100% full out musical, with more singing than talking. I think that episode has at least 5 separate songs in it, (6 if you count a reprise) and they’re all great!
“It’s Over Isn’t It?” and “Both of You” are both extremely cathartic and deep, and work extremely well back to back.
If you feel so inclined, I’d highly recommend checking out more songs from it, or just doing a full out reaction of the series! 😁

Its sad to see how adults forget that Kids are a lot smarter and perceptive than they look
This isn't "wasted on kids", this helped kids to deal with a lot of things, " here comes a thought " helped me a lot to deal with my feelings while i was growing, even being a a different type of situation Its over isn't it was so relatable to me after my grandma passed away and i didn't understood how i was feeling cuz i was too young
I grow up with Steven Universe and it helped me to grown as a person, just like all of the kids who watched the show, even helped the adults that watched too!

Steven Universe is good for all ages. And it has a LOT of songs throughout the series, although not every episode, or even most episodes, have songs like this.
It takes on a variety of topics throughout the series, and gives all the feels 5/5 stars
The whole show is a single artwork.

Jump in... watch the whole episode, it was a musical! It was the test to show they could do a musical movie... and I suggest watching it- Steven Universe the Movie! The music is incredible and the show layers silly fun into the most wonderful and complex story.
Steven universe is a fairly hard science fiction show that initially presents itself as a magical girl kids cartoon because the viewpoint character is a young child. As he grows up, there are discoveries and explanations and a lot of piecing together of backstory, and a lot of things planted even back in the first episode start to connect together and make sense.
I grew up w Steven universe when it came out I was 10 and now I’m 17 lol I love this cartoon.

I was actually in middle school when this first came out and every week a new episode came out I watched it as it came out. I am now in my early 20s and love musicals. Have since before SU actually. One of my favorite musicals is the movie Sweeney Todd which I recommend if you haven't seen it yet.
This reaction makes me really applaud Steven Universe even more.

I mean - You were kind of right about SU. It is crazy, it is off the wall, but there's also a serious, deep, and cohesive story that pulled at my heartstrings constantly. The plot is amazing, the attention to detail is amazing, every single musical number is amazing. By far, SU touched my heart more than any other TV show I've ever watched in my 30 years.
One of their songs “love like you” is my personal favorite from the show.

Dude, that's not even the saddest song in SU. The movie will hit you in the feels.
The episode that song comes from is an eleven minute homage to old fashioned musicals, you’d do fine just to react to its entirety.
Otherwise, for your channel specifically I’d recommend “What’s the Use of Feeling, Blue?”, Love Like You, Strong in the Real Way, and Let Us Adore You(Reprise)
Patti Lupone and Christina Ebersole both did singing and voice work for this show. These songs contain some of their highlights, as well as another song from the lead of this video and a nice jazzy sentimental number sung by the show’s creator that was used for the end credits.

If you want a more upbeat, kids-show-y musical number check out Stronger Than You. If you want something jazzy and contemplative, Here Comes a Thought is great. If you want a song to rip out your heart and stomp on it, I recommend Drift Away 😆. Potential spoilers in all, though!
The show had lots of one off songs that were excellent, and a handful of fully musical episodes, but the movie is a full on musical.
I'd love to see you react to Here Comes a Thought. Or any other song from this show, (which is a kids show with a HUGE teen and adult following, and it gets pretty intense and serious at times, I'm in my thirties and have watched it all like 5 times) or the movie as a whole.
This particular episode is styled as a musical but there is a song almost every other episode and they are all catching and fun songs. Really thought provoking and many of them have great lessons on self discovery.
The song is so good on its own but something about knowing the backstory and getting to know each character before this always brings a tear to my eyes!

Steven Universe is for kids but it's all about coming to terms with your own feelings, managing healthy and unhealthy relationships and accepting differences and flaws in yourself and others. It doesn't have a song EVERY episode but most of it's songs are like this with a few quirky ones but the emotional ones I would say happen more often. It's only silly for season 1 but if emotion is what you're looking for you should also watch full disclosure, drift away and the other 2 songs that were in this same episode and pair with it; the 1st is Mr Greg and the 3rd is Both of you.

Steven universe has extremely deeps parts for a kids shows, and it’s music is absolutely adored
I'd highly recommend you watch it - it starts off slow, ramps up amazingly, and all of the music included is spectacular. It's not fully a musical but it has musical numbers here and there and they all hit hard in my opinion. Not quite as hard as this one (quite honestly one of the best of the best)
The journey is very worth it - good for kids, and adults and an amazing bridge for both together. If you can go into it knowing as little as possible it's a heck of a ride! For suggestions that are not as spoilery (and I'll wholeheartedly rec watching it)

Don’t know if you seen the show at this point so here’s an explanation of the song. Steven’s alien mom Rose died in childbirth and Pearl was in love with her but Rose only had eyes for Steven’s father Greg. The song is meant to show how she struggles with her grief.
This song is even better with the full context, it makes me cry every time! I highly suggest you watch the show, it really gives all the songs so much depth and meaning!

Gurl sweetie I watched this show when it first aired and I watched it until the end of the series and let me tell you that the songs that they showcase in this show, the movie, and the Future show alike are never wasted on me. When this episode came out I rewound that episode 20 times to listen to her sing that song.
A sad yet heartfelt song about lost love
I forgot what that song does to me considering that it has some personal meaning to me. It's a struggle I fight with a lot.
Steven Universe is about growing up. The first season is a kids show, because Steven is a kid, but the show grows as he does, growing in emotional depth as he and his world does.
Steven Universe starts off as a Kids show with Mature Undertones and then it punches everyone and everything in the gut so hard that they forcefully cry
I highly recommend Steven Universe. It's music is amazing and it deals with such serious issues as grief, unconventional families, lgbtq relationships, abusive relationships, broken families, war, ptsd, etc. It's SO good. Since you liked Pearl's singing and emotions, here, I recommend trying out "Do It For Her".

Could you just talk about whole pearl's entire character ark basically just her getting over rejection, her character is still pretty good but seriously it took 16 years for her to get over rejection.

The whole episode "Mr. Greg", which this song come from, was a musical. It was the moment Steven Universe transcended even itself. The whole thing would be worth watching.
That's why cartoons aren't just for kids and why they have many adult fans..
I'm 20 almost 21 and own the steven universe bundle that like 80 bucks so yeah this show did some damage to are hearts and being a steven also thank you steven for changing are hearts and rocking are universe ❤️

steven universe is indeed a teens show, but it's very emotionally intelligent and is very enjoyable even for adults! it aims to teach teenagers (and maybe kids and adults) many different things. the complexities of many different types of relationships, the concept of trauma and how it affects people and how to move on from it, jealousy and entitlement, forgiveness and how wether you forgive someone is up to you, toxic relationships and straight up abuse, abandonment and loneliness, accepting eachothers differences, how sometimes authority figures abuse their power and how important it is to be yourself in a world where anyone who steps out of line is punished. so, so so many very important things are communicated in this show. the relationships between two or more people, and the relationship with oneself. it has such good messages for teenagers who are really struggling with all these questions in this time in their life. it taught me so much when I was a teen myself. it's kinda genius how they delivered such messages aswell, there's a thing called fusion in the show and it is both very entertaining and is used as a mouthpiece for relationships and can manipulate it to narrate many different life lessons about relationships. the messages aren't like "love eachother, be kind, friendship will save the day" they're all very applicable to the real world. it doesn't shy away from deep or hard topics such as loss, abuse, struggling with negative feelings, hurting others and being hurt. it was one of the first shows in this demographic to go that far, it was one of a kind and kick-started a very important genre of teen media. sorry this is so long, this show just means a lot to both me and so many different people
