    Very nice gear. I’m with you on high end gear. It simply fishes better.

    My Walmart combo that cost $60 can catch more fish than your high end combos.
    Nah I’m just playin’. 😂 The people who say that will never know what a quality rod and reel is like. Shout out to all the Ontario anglers. I’m down in the Hamilton area. 🤙

    We all know that cheap and expensive gears can all catch fish, but you only live once and everyone want to be happy; why not enjoy your hard earned money, right? it's funny and sad that some people save all those money, but yet the end of their life time they regret not getting to enjoy enough of their money before they pass away 😂

      This is the comment I was looking for. I agree with you 100%, as long as it is within your budget, why not? We all work hard at our jobs and why not get the good stuff when it comes to our passion? Thank you for watching!

    When do you use a baitcaster vs spinning reel?

    • @shorefishingontario
      @shorefishingontario  2 місяці тому

      I use spinning with lighter lines for finesse techniques and baitcaster with heavier line and reaction style techniques.

    Nice rods and reels. However I’m curious if you buy from Japan why not get better rods than the gloomis. I think they are overpriced for what they are. There are so many good rods and also just as sensitive if not more from shimano high end . Daiwa, evergreen. Raid. Tenryu. Engine, Anglo etc

      I see prices are rising at tackle shops in USA and Europe aswel. I think its because of higher Rent, Energy and Wages that the price point (MSRP) has rissen to the current level. And lastly VAT does hurt too (21% in some countries in Europe).

      Thanks, I've been a fan of G. Loomis since I started using them in 2017. I've used different brands and found that G. Loomis is significantly more sensitive, but that in and of itself is subjective. Retailers have increased the price of G.Loomis NRX rods by over $300 since 2020 and that being said I don't pay full price for them as I get them on sale or if I sell other combos and thru reward points at certain retailers. I prefer the lifetime warranty or expiditor service. I've never had to use the warranty service yet, but I also enjoy the convenience of driving about an hour to the Shimano/G. Loomis office here if I need anything. I was intrigued by the Shimano Poison Ultima 7'0" ML spinning rod but can't justify the $1300 price tag, especially with no lifetime warranty. I haven't tried any of the JDM rods as I am not comfortable having rods shipped from Japan and the whole warranty issue. But as I said, sensitivity is subjective to the user. I believe there's a threshold of sensitivity until you can get too sensitive. If that makes sense. That being said, I enjoy the G. Loomis sensitivity as I only use them for bottom contact. There's obviously rods that are more sensitive, but like I said, when does sensitivity get too sensitive? There's more to the brand than just that. Thanks for watching.

      @kayakfishingforpredators9107 G. Loomis rods and Shimano reels increase at least 1-2 times per year from Canadian retailers.

      I disagree, G.loomis makes some of the best technique specific models for baits needing sensitivity, they definitely don't win on looks though. Another thing, their rods are damn consistent, a medium is a medium, not a medium heavy. I love my megabass rods too but they're all over the place. Megabass for example, X-bites is not a heavy, barely is a medium heavy, would call it a MH-. The P5 spinning handles are a joke and all of their power ratings on orochi and levante are rated a power lower than they are. Steez are great rods too, I just prefer the NRX, Poison, or P5 line for most applications.

      @@shorefishingontario yea it is pretty subjective for sure. i find between different brands the vibrations are transmitted as a different feel. its very hard to describe, shimano/nrx is a very fast outside rod feeling, megabass is a bit more internal feeling, daiwa is almost like a more hollow feeling sometimes, st croix is more dampened even with their legendx still can feel stuff but just more mushy feeling. at the end of the day i agree its what you want to fish that makes it fun. I tend to lean towards a more moderate action of the jdm rods than the faster nrx tapers for spinning rods. luckily i haven't had any highend breakage yet, but had several st croix and mid tier shimano break on me. warrenty took a couple years to get replacement with st croix but free, shimano was much faster at a low cost. the JDM exchange rates right now are better than before but you don't get warranty.
