lol. thank you. BTW, just hit 28k miles on that set and the brakes are still phenomenal. When they are done I'll just go with another set of red stuff. They are a bit more dusty than the cheap stuff but well worth it.
I wish I would have gotten the AWD. I drove Brian’s from PentastarV6Performance and it got soooo much grip. Mine spins 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I got new tires coming early next year. I’ll be going full ultra high performance summer rubber. I still maintain, if this car was a RWD, it be still in production and competing with German counterparts. I got a few more videos coming on the 200. ;)
Luckily no snow where I live. My car would be undriveable. I guess all the tuning and performance upgrade is just too much getting off the line. At speed tho.... man, she still pulls way up top.
Good choice! I just bought another set for my wife's car and I asked EBC to sponsor a set for my daughters project Miata (video coming up soon). I'll try to do a review on that set that is on my car after 2/3 years. I'm so happy, I never had better brakes. Make sure you get then nice and straight. I did some heavy breaking from 130 down and it was straight, confident and never faded.
These are the best. If you get the dimpled they will make funny popping sounds. Check out the video with the Miata video where we have slotted and dimpled. Please stay away from the drilled. They are prone to crack. I prefer the slotted ones myself. Red pads are aggressive enough for the road. Want something with less bite, get the yellow or green pads neither way, they’ll be grippier than stock. Black ones are like stock.
@@Turbo_Snail I’ll go find that Miata video to see what you’re talking about. Personally I was just going to get the slotted rotors and either the yellow or green pads. I drive a bit aggressively but not often unless I’m in the city. It’s also on a 2015 200S with the 3.6L.
Great video, just ordered a similar "stock upgrade" setup (EBC USR rotors and Red Stuff) for my Audi Q5 and you described everything perfectly. Very excited to get my new rotors and pads on when they arrive. I'm also installing StopTech stainless lines front and rear, Stahlbus speed bleeders on all calipers, and StopTech RBF600 brake fluid. Hoping the new setup and the new fluid with a proper bleed will be an improvement over my stock (fairly well used) setup.
The improvement will be dramatic. Keep in mind I changed my original setup less than 1/3 of its life and I felt a big improvement. I think you’ll be better off just getting the power bleeder i have in my other video over the speed bleeder. On regards to brake fluid, I like pentosin. But I do switch every flush to a different color. I go once orange, the next time blue etc. I’d love to hear more once it’s installed. Keep me updated :)
Buddy , now its after year or so. Are you still riding on these? How do they hold on the street? What conditions are they atm? Im thinking to buying one of these but with yellowstuff because I got big X5 . Do you think they would suit? Would be nice to see the update video after some time using these. Can’t find any sort of video like that.
I was thinking doing a review for a while now. My work life is just a bit crazy. I'll try. Here is my short answer... worth EVERY PENNY. I absolutely love them. Whenever any of my other cars need breaks, they will be upgraded to either green or yellow. The red ones are pretty aggressive for my car but I like it. I just past 48k miles and they have a lot of meat left. The only thing.... they are very dusty. I think the yellow ones should be much better in that department. Also, I noticed (and I live in Florida), when the temperature gets really, really low (like high 30s) the red pads take a mile or two to get warm and have full power. Even with the reduced power, they are better than my OEMs. I'll try to make a video, I'll try! Thanks for watching.
I'd be curious to find out how the green and yellow pads feel for comparison. I'd expect the green to be closer to stock and the yellow to have more bite but be louder because they are Semi-Metallic. I think the red stuff is maybe a bit "much" for the 200, but probably the perfect fit for the heavier Challenger and Charger. I really need to make a website to elaborate on my projects and share data sheets and other pdfs 🤔
@@Turbo_Snail That would be a thought. A good idea. I installed Powerstop Z23 kits on my Avenger. Like you said, the factory brakes were probably for a 2.4. It was a huge difference for me also. I've been very happy with them. A little pricey in my opinion.
I am amazed how meticulous you are when installing these brakes! Refreshing to see that, also thank you for your thoughts in the description. Have you experienced any squeal or lack of braking performance in colder temperatures? I realize that you are in Florida so it may be difficult for you to come by a chance to test that, but I am interested to see how these would perform on my daily driver which is currently running Yellowstuff (I truly enjoy driving with them, but damn are they ever dusty!)
Thank you for your kind words. Yeah, these are the best. I was looking for braking power and now a couple years later and a bit over 30k miles on these brakes, they still brake like new. I have noticed on really cold days, and yes, it gets down into the mid 30s here, it takes one or two stops to work at full capacity. But even at "not full capacity" they are better than OEM. By the time I get out of the community they are perfect. I would not worry if I had to drive to Canada in the winter with the red stuff. I'm glad Steve from EBC Brakes America sent me the slotted ones. I got slotted and dimpled on the Miata, Solid on the Cherokee and the Mercedes now and they all work excellent, but I do get comments on the slotted ones all the time. They look great. There is no rust on the top ridge or where the wheel mounts. They do have a slight rust appearance after it rains heavy on the brake surface but nothing like the OEM ones used to look. There is no rust in the slots as they are coated as well. Wherever the black coating is there is never, ever any rust. I got now yellow stuff on the Miata (after a bit of a hiccup) and they are more aggressive and it appear to me a bit more noisy than the red stuff. When I'm ready to replace again, I think I'll go red stuff on the Cherokee (currently black) and the 200, the Journey does very well with the Green Stuff, the Mercedes would probably benefit from either red or yellow as well as it is very heavy.
I’m at 47k miles now and these are still AMAZING! Can’t remember at what mileage I installed them but they still work the same as when new. The rotors look like new as well. No grooves, no noise, no shimmying; just perfect.
I have the same setup but on a Toyota tundra I love them but they are super squeaky. Have about 500 miles on them. Any thoughts? Would greatly appreciate it.
Hm. They shouldn’t be. Mine are quiet even after almost 30k miles. Maybe there isn’t lubrication where it’s supposed to be? I made the mistake once (not on these) and pressure washed my calipers on the car and then they squeaked. Maybe give them another 300 miles to settle in. I believe these have an 800 mile break in period.
Some would say it’s overkill. I disagree. I got 30+k miles on them now and love them. Perfect, quiet, strong, and still look great. Doing these with yellow stuff pads in the Miata now.
These are excellent. Braking power is amazing. Coating is still strong. I should do a review as I have 10k miles on these now. I’ll be buying only ebc from now on.
Not sure about the lifespan, but let me tell you, what an improvement over the stock setup. It feels more like the stuff I had in my corvettes. The braking is a lot more aggressive. I now barely touch the pedal which is a bit annoying during commuting, but when I open her up and get a little more sporty, it feels right where it should be. Before, with the factory stuff, it started to get a bit spongy after just a mile of really getting into the breaks. These don't seem to fade. Now, this is my opinion after only about 700 miles. I will do a 5000 mile review. So far, I'm putting in all my other cars the green stuff. Don't take me wrong. I love the red stuff, but I think the green stuff is the right pad for everyday driving. One thing I noticed right at the start is a lot of brake dust, until they are bedded in. After that the brake dust is a minimum. I would expect the same thing on all new pads/rotors as it needs to wear off the paint. I would say if you drive fairly aggressive, get red stuff, consider yellow stuff. If you want a stock replacement, get optimax. If you want something in between, do the green stuff. The thing is, if you don't like one thing, it's fairly cheap to get something else. On our track car (future project) we will be doing red stuff and blue stuff. We will swap things as needed. Don't wanna drive Blue stuff and can't drive orange stuff on the street. Needs lots of temperature to work. I hope I answered some of your questions. Email me for more questions as another reply sometimes gets lost in the UA-cam universe. ;)
@@Turbo_Snail actually, sorry I’m looking at it again….I dunno, at first it looks like a triple square, but then another angle of it makes it seem like it’s got almost 5 grooves exactly? I’m actually a bit confused. A triple square actually would have a lot of splines. This one seems to have a small amount…now you’ve got me really curious
Not sure. Never seen it before. Not sure why they had to use another type of bolt. My toolbox has a drawer with tools that we’re all only used once. Can’t we just stick to one standard?
You're 100% wrong about the ultimax brake pad as they give off an enormous amount of brake dust and this is clearly discussed in the EBC website. I don't know where you get your information from but it's 100% wrong
My red stuff and yellow stuff give off more brake dust than the ultimax. I’m glad you’re so passionate about that but did you ever use them? All my vehicles are on EBC brakes. Do the ultimax give off more brake dust than that Amazon special or that stuff from autozone? Yes, but they also stop a lot better.
@@Turbo_Snail first and foremost you have to understand that The red stuff pads are made in two different qualities, The red stuff 7000 series is the high end BBC brake pad which a lot of people don't realize that the yellow and the green the orange and the red all have different series ranging from 2000 to 7000 series. I've installed hundreds and hundreds of ebc brake components as I own a restoration shop and deal with EBC on a daily basis. Ultimax brake pads are just your standard OEM equivalent and give off tremendous amount of brake dust especially when you pair them with a grooved or grooved and dimpled EBC rotor. But they are still a very good brake pad as they get the covenant GG friction rating which no other OEM brake pad gives. Also keep in mind that the red stuff pads 6000 series and 7000 series are the only ceramic or should I say full ceramic pad that EBC offers to the consumer. Here's a link to a pretty good video explaining just about everything about EBC brakes and combination of rotors ua-cam.com/video/WhD5k2AM-kA/v-deo.html
