- In this week's video we're finally giving you a tour of our new (to us) 500 square foot condo in downtown Halifax Nova Scotia. Shop our Merch: teespring.com/... Support us on Patreon: / delightfultravellers
We start the video out for a walk in downtown Halifax where we discuss last week's video and all the amazing feedback and comments we received.
We then head back to our small condo to give a tour of the space and all the improvements we've done since we moved in.
Lastly we grab some take away dinner from a nearby Vietnamese restaurant (Man Bean), where we try their Pho Soup and a chicken and pork Banh Mi.

Wanted to recommend Trapped, it's on Netflix.
It's an Icelandic murder mystery with 2 Seasons.
It's subtitled, but well worth watching 👍
Watching your 2017 ⛴ trip to Portland, Maine, and feeling nostalgic. I fly into Bangor during summer for travel to Acadia National Park. I am curious if atmosphere in Bar Harbor will be less congested now that they’ve lost ferry service. It looks like Boston to Bar Harbor ferry still operating this summer.
Not very much...
My husband and I raised 4 children in an 816 sq ft house. I know about cozy for sure. When we had a teenager and an infant and two other girls in between, we enlarged our home by two bedrooms and a 600 sq ft addition on the other end of our house to accommodate my husbands mom. Best decision we ever made. Now mom is gone and so have the kids, all homes of their own. Hope you love your tiny condo.
Trevor and Anna I used to live in a 5 bedroom home when my son was growing up and had 2 cats and 1 dog and now for past 3 years I live alone in a small 1 bedroom condo and to tell you the truth I love it. It is not the size that counts when you feel you are Home..........your place looks amazing
Wow Effie that's what I call downsizing! Well done. We luv our new tiny condo 😀 - Trevor
LOSER!!!! An apartment is NOT a house OR home!
New place looks nice and cozy. Best part is that it's walking distance to everything.
That's our favourite part! - Trevor
Huh been living in Halifax for 5 years and never knew they had cozy condos like this downtown. Very sweet
Hey bro I live in africa and my girl friend just move there can you find some way I can come to Halifax? I am very real?😊😊😊
I just downsized from five bedroom house to a 900 sq ft apartment and I love it. Getting ready for retirement, making plans to explore Nova Scotia. It is truly amazing what is right here. The future is a wonderful surprise waiting to be lived. All the best to the both of you!!
Well said Angela... we feel the exact same way :)
Loved the two door bedroom layout and the big window at the desk :D Very cute crib!
Thanks guys! We're settling in nicely 😀 - Anna
You're so CUTE together. Remind me very much of my late wife's experiences setting up our first home together. You invoked very sweet memories for me from long ago. Thank you!
I used to live there in Waterfront Place back in the early 90's when I was still a bachelor. Same size, Unit 223. Loved my time there.
It looks so great guys! That is neat that it has a surprise patio! My husband and I lived in a 500 square feet (12 pyeong as it is measured in South Korea) in Seoul (Gangnam district) for a couple of years and we LOVED it. We actually took our son home from the hospital to that apartment, it has a special place in our hearts. We now live in Cape Breton on 26 acres in the highlands (we moved last August). He is three now and has a sister, things have changed and we have a bit more space. Your microwave is so cute hahaha.
We so want to get to South Korea at some point. We thought it might happen this year but oh well. What area in Cape Breton do you live in? Are you from the island? I (Trevor) grew up in North Sydney. We'll be spending a lot of time in the Cape this year. Big plans! 😀 - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers I hope you make it there, it's one of my favourite places in the world! I grew up in New Waterford! Such a small world. We live about 10 minutes from the Englishtown ferry now.
I’ve lived in 430 squ ft ...so 500 is a dream lol. Enjoy your new place
Congrats on the new pad, looks like a sweet spot located near lots of great stuff. I’ve only ever traveled to British Columbia in Canada, and with your videos I am now intrigued in visiting Nova Scotia and the eastern side. I’ve only ever visited the east coast of the US a couple of times too, so much more to explore!! Bahn Mi, YummO!!!!
Hello - new subscriber here. Your video came up in my feed and I just had to have a look. I live just up the road from you and absolutely love my city. Your new home is lovely, thanks for the tour. I look forward to watching some of your previous travel videos - I love to travel and can’t wait to do so again, when it’s safe to do so.
Tina we're so glad you found us. You have a lot to catch up on 😉Lots more Halifax and NS videos on the way since we're here for a while - Trevor
Enjoyed this and welcome to our beautiful city and province!
We're from here too! :) Lots more to come Sean - Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers Oh my bad! Looking forward to more videos!
I know this is an older video but you are living/lived exactly where I wanted to move to! Have fun on your travels.
My daughter and I tried Man Bean just last weekend! We love Phò and that’s what we had. Sooo good!! Love your new digs! 😃
Man Bean is the best! We've went back a few times now and it never disappoints - Anna
Hi guys! Love the new space and looking forward to seeing you explore NS! 🤗
Hey Patti! 👋 So much more on NS coming soon - Anna
Have you considered a mirrored finish splashback? It makes the space seem larger and lighter. We've got a smoky mirror splashback in our kitchen and we love it 😃
No we haven't but that's not a bad idea at all. We'll have to look up some photos - Trevor
I don't think I would enjoy living for a long time in a 500 sqft place. If I were living alone, sure it would be fine but I like more space, especially a separate office room with a nice desk & computers with space for dvds/blurays and other stuff on shelves. But you guys have decorate it rather tastefully so it looks very sweet.
Newlywed wife and I moved into, no joke, 350sq ft. 1 bedroom apartment as our first "little" love nest. Now, I was and still am physically very large, about like BOTH of you combined actually. Fortunately my bride was equally petite in size so we averaged out OK in the very small space.
Congratulations on your new home!!!! Saying hi from Westville, Nova Scotia ❤️
HI Westville! :)
Hello Anna and Trevor, so glad to meet you. My husband and I are retired Nova Scotians from the Annapolis Valley. We just discovered your channel. We are waiting to enjoy travelling once more outside of Nova Scotia, especially Europe. I loved seeing your downtown small condo. I love small living spaces. Our home was once very small 816 sq ft, but is now feeling quite large as we are empty nesters. I look forward to enjoying your perspective of Halifax as we love to visit the streets of this beautiful city. Lwould love to catch the name of that Vietnamese restaurant. The food looked delicious.
Hi Jean.. first off, welcome to the channel 😀 We're glad you're enjoying the vlogs and the restaurant is called 'Man Bean' btw. It's great! (on Barrington st) - Trevor
We like you are retired from the UK hoping to travel around Nova Scotia next year, where as you would like to travel Europe, we are considering the opposite journey. We have booked next year to Lake Garda. Hope we get to Halifax enjoyed watching...
Thank you for all your videos! They are lovely and helpful 👍🏻
Glad you like them!
Your new condo is lovely - you def put in the effort with getting a great location, lots of light and great furnishings as this can make a huge difference in a small space. Always thought I would move back to NS but now IDK however will look forward to your year of travel within the Atlantic region and beyond. I am sad that I cannot visit and hoping things will open up in the summer...
Hopefully you can visit NS later this year Rosie. In the meantime, we'll do our best to show you the province right here 😀 - Anna
Just love your blog I have lived here for 60 yrs all my life
Love your condo
As travellers, how can you not love Emily in Paris? Silly fun for an excuse to spend time in the city of light 🤠
I really liked it Brian! - Anna
Since you are just 2 your place is just right for you. And it thus look cozy
🤗
Love your condo! Our family of 4 has lived small for the past 8 years. We started with a 40 ft boat and currently live in an 700 Sq ft apartment. We love living small, it makes us be more mindful about what we have in the home.
Such a good mindset. That's part of the reason we downsized as well 🤗 - Anna
Thank you for sharing, I will move to Halifax end of this year. 🍁❤️🇨🇦
You'll luv it here! - Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers Would be great if you make a content for living cost and job opportunity for new immigrants or students Anna, love you both, you guys explaining in very details, love your contents.
Thank You
Loved the tour of the new place! My husband and I are retired and traveling the world...until COVID! We started downsizing many years ago and found it so liberating. We are in 800 sq ft space now and it feels so spacious. Netflix for Firefly Lane, Bridgertons and Monarca.
Good on you guys for downsizing yes! It feels so liberating indeed 😀 - Trevor
The new place looks. . .delightful. Love that Ken&Barbie size balcony! Nice new digs!
haha best description of our little balcony yet. Wait until we can show you the shared balcony that's right outside our door in the Spring - Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers look forward to the Spring reveal! I once lived in an apartment with a K&B size kitchen -- stand in one spot and you could reach stove, counter, fridge, sink, dishes, and silverware. Great rent, lousy kitchen! LOL
Thank you for the condo tour. Love your place & how you you decorated it with good use of space. I live in an 850 square foot condo just south of Boston MA. I love it. It's just me, as my kids are all grown up. Its perfect for me. Your place is perfect too. You'll find it so easy to clean etc. So liberating. Enjoy it.
We so want to get back to Boston when it's safe! It's one of our fav cities. Your place sounds perfect 😀 - Anna
I love your new home! You have decorated it so nicely. My husband and I lived in a 600 square foot condo in Calgary for six years and loved it. We eventually moved to a condo downtown to be closer to the things we loved to do, like theatre and that condo is about 900 square feet. Then, we moved to Mexico (Yucatán) just over four years ago and our house is about 1500 square feet. I don't know what to do with all this space! As for shows to watch, I love Ozark, Lucifer and Good Girls on Netflix.
Someday we really hope we can spend months on end in Mexico in that area Janice! That was our plan for the start of 2021 🤷🏻 Thanks for all the show reccos - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers I'm looking forward to your future videos in our area! I would love to go to Nova Scotia someday, so I'm really enjoying watching your adventures there.
Great to see how well you made a small place work for two people!
Happy new home making 🤗🙏
Luv the new tiny condo.. Definitely will simplify your lives alot more.. Which is always a plus right..less to clean is always nice too lol. Enjoy your new home. Congrats. Great videos. Look forward to your next adventures. :)
I also now reside in Cape Breton nova Scotia from Ontario. So beautiful here. Cheers
Thanks Aimee! So glad you like CB as well. We'll be spending quite a bit of time in Cape Breton this year 🤗 - Anna
Ok...I hit the bell. And subscribed a few minutes ago. I have to say , I just love the music you have as the theme for the intro and outro of your videos. Its awesome. The condo looks great and I think its just the right amount of space for folks who love to travel. After all...less space, less clutter and less to pack up when you start to travel again. Great video folks.... just me...kiki
Kiki thank you so much. Welcome to our channel. Where are you from? - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers Cape Breton!!
@@kikiski223 I'm also from CB! 🤙
Awesome condo. Small is the way to go. I have a house. It's small.
Oh man! What a lovely video with interesting details! We live on our sailboat but are so intrigued by all the different ways people can "live tiny" :) stay safe out there!
Fun new place Congrats....I have lived in everything from a 5 bedroom home to a studio in Manhattan it is you that make it home.....
Thanks Wendell! What kind of a place did you end up settling on? condo? house? 🤗 - Anna
@@DelightfulTravellers I am now in a little over 1,000 sq. Ft. Condo... 2 bed 2 bath... good space for me and my GF and two cats. Since we are both working from home that 2 second bedroom is now more of a full office. We do have an outdoor patio that I can grill and eat/drink on when it is warmer.
I love your apartment. I actually thought your tv was a fireplace until you said it was a tv. Really nice cozy place. I could definitely live there. I’m very happy for your guys. More cooking videos!!! Please!!
Our first "love nest" was, no joke, exactly 350sq.ft. Two room, 1 bath, no closets, efficiency kitchen w/match lit stove/ oven, double sink (Deep for bathing! Shallow for dishes!)
Yes friends, THIS for $500.00/month plus utilities!!! (Electric, gas, phone, cable tv.)
Ahhhhhh the "NEWLYWED" life.
The compromise?
It was on the East side of the City of Yonkers with GREAT public transit service from our County (Westchester, NY.) both intra County and to NYC via Subway (ie. "METRO" to you folks), Commuter Rail, Commuter Bus, local busses, walking or by auto.
You can DO this when you're young and in your "BC" (Before Children) years.
After the kids start arriving...
Leibensraum (LIVING SPACE) must increase!
Good luck in the new condo!
Keep your eyes out for something LARGER!
As your family grows you CAN stay in the downtown, keep you new "pad" to rent out and move up to a glorious, larger, condo! (Now that you're "UTUBE" stars it should be EZ by then!).
We're older than you think by the sounds of it John 😉 We've been married for 13 years and at one point we owned a 2400sq ft house. We've been downsizing for the past 7 years because the plan is to travel even more 😀 - Trevor
Wow, I'm glad I suffered through all those travel videos to finally get to the cream. What a fantastic condo tour. So exciting my head is reeling with joy, and the kettle; mind-blowing. Stay safe 😷
I live in a travel camper 14 x 7ish and I Love it😁. As long as I have lots of light & windows I'm good. I love listening to nature also😊
If only we had a year round climate for a camper in Canada! - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers I'm 40 minutes from Halifax😁
It's a very nice, cosy & quite functional small apartment! Enjoy it and have a nice stay there, Trevor & Anna!!!
Thank you! 😃
Awesome condo!! Look forward to more Halifax videos in January 2022!! Keep up the great work Anna and Trevor 👍
I'm Planning to move to Halifax this summer, can't wait! A good show on Netflix that I just discovered called the "Last Kingdom". It's a high budget historical drama series about England in the 9 th century. Great story and the music score is awesome also.
You'll really like Halifax! We also watched Last Kingdom. It's great - Anna
Netflix I loved were Prison Break, Blacklist, Homeland, Queen of the South, Quantico and House of cards
We've watched some of those but not all. Thanks for the list! - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers Anything to help
The condo that you live in is so beautiful and creative inside, the way Anna decorates. The sandwich both you eat it reminds me of subway fast food ❤❤❤
Ah.. Trevor here lol... I hand a hand in it as well 😅
Hi Trevor and Anna. Please stay happy, safe and healthy. God bless you and your new home. 🙏❤️🇦🇿🇵🇭
Really nice tiny condo. You used the space well. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Oh! Check out Yellowstone on Prime! It’s the BEST show!
Watched it all... so so good! - Anna
Hi Anna & Trevor - Now, I think this is the first time I heard you speak of your family, which begs the question: Are both your families from Nova Scotia? From Halifax? Siblings? Where & how long ago did you meet?
What a beautiful, tiny place you have. I am not so sure I could live in such a small condo. I feel pretty constricted in my current place as it is and I believe mine is 950sq ft. and on the ground floor, but I hear you when travelling is very comforting to know that you can just lock up behind you and not have to worry; whereas a house is a horse of a different colour;-) You are pretty high up, what floor is it? 12, 16? In any event, your condo looks awesome. I congratulate you both with best wishes!
Pretty sure we answered a family question in a Q&A 🤔 I grew up in Cape Breton and Anna grew up in the Valley. But we've been living in Halifax for quite a while. Luv this city! - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers Sorry, I missed that Q&A. Thanks for the answer
Cute home Anna and Trevor. I use to live in a 630 ft2 home with my 125 lb dog. Your place has a much nicer layout. Look forward to the next Halifax adventure. Your weather is much more favourable than in Alberta with the extreme weather snap we are having (-40 with windchill).
Shows I just finished watching on Netflix is: Bridgerton, The Queen’s Gambit and Unorthodox.
Mung bean. Awesome little spot. Very clean and friendly. Thanks for the tour
Congratulations guys on your new digs. Great location on the harbourfront promenade. .In answer to your question, I uased to live for 6 yrs in a 475 sq.ft. apt . when I was living in Halifax and it was fine. Its a matter of adjusting your lifestyle, not collecting "stuff" . Its actually liberating. Cheers and best of luck on the new adventures. Dan
Thanks you Dan.. we absolutely luv living in a smaller space. The area can't be beat! - Anna
My favorite TV show now is Corner Gas. totally Canadian, so you might have watched it. Butif no - recommend to take a look.
And your apartment is really cozy, looks comfortable. And view is amazing!
I love your new home/condo. Well-arranged furniture. So cute kettle.
🥰
Love the condo, in the UK they are called studio apartments but yours is so well designed
If it didn’t have that wall we would call it a studio here as well. I think it’s technically a junior 1 bedroom 😀 - Trevor
It’s just so lovely

Glad you got the place you want! Beautiful glass sink! That sandwich is intriguing.

I love your place! The way it's designed makes it look bigger. The hardest part for me would be storage and one bathroom. Since you're normally on the road so much, I think this is a perfect place. Plus it will be a perfect place to rent out! Love your style too.
We would have said the same about bathrooms and storage but we're so used to being on the road that those things don't matter so much now. Glad you like our style and setup 🤗 - Trevor
@@DelightfulTravellers that is awesome! I also know we have too much stuff we don't use. I've been working on getting rid of stuff. It's great you were able to do that!

Vietnam is amazing, I prefer Cambodia but it’s still amazing. We were there for our summer holidays for 5 weeks Dec 2019/ January 2020, talking about timing. Where we live in Adelaide, South Australia there is a lot of Vietnamese food. Vancouver had fab Vietnamese food as well.
Great video guys! Love your condo, although it maybe small, or too small, for some i think its great. Cozy, warm , great view and has all you need. Thanks so much Sue! 😊
500sqft?... My gosh! A palace compared to how my married life started. My new bride and I, in 1988, compromised with each other on a location strategically placed between our parents homes in our fair city of Yonkers, NY.
Me? 100% apartment dweller my whole life! Bride? 100% private home for HER whole life! Our first "love nest"? 350sq.ft., two room apartment in a private home carved up into THREE apartments!
Yeah... As I said... A compromise.
We signed a two year lease five months before our wedding day! (Why? To secure it! Even today?Just TRY to find an apartment in the NYC area for appx, $500.00(US)/month WITH indoor plumbing? GOOD LUCK!).
Watching you two young people "settling" into domestic bliss together has brought back SOOOOO many pleasant memories for me of that time, decades ago, in MY life.
Thank you for bringing a smile to an "upper middle aged", divorced, widower.
God Bless you in your lives together!
Sincerely,
Your devoteded fan in Yonkers, NY.

Back at the turn of the century we lived on Spring Garden Road with a view of the Gardens. We had busy lives and a small place with everything walkable was amazing. Your place looks great. Sorry to hear you are going to lose your view. Now we overlook the shipping lanes into Hfx harbour.
The walkability is by far our favourite part of being down here. It's incredible and honestly priceless to us. So many good restaurants! If you ever see us around pls say hello 🤗 - Anna

Hello Brazil! - Trevor
Hey guys love the tour, living in Toronto definitely understand tiny living! I'm an interior designer & there are few tile places I know of to check out for your backsplash. Ceragres, they have a designlab boutique studio in Halifax and Centura tile, they have a 3x6 matte black "metro series". Goodluck!
Thanks for the tip / lead! We will definitely look those places up Joyclyn - Anna
Thanks for sharing your condo with us. Small but gorgeous. I'm thinking that you're planning on buying a tiny house or something as an Airbnb property ?? Also, in Ontario...Toronto specifically, since Covid there has been a huge exodus from downtown which has driven up housing prices in cities that are 1 hour away and...prices for homes/condos in Toronto have dropped drastically, is that the same for Halifax? For shows, if you've got Disney+ we've been watching Wandavision - so good and you don't have to be a big Marvel fan I'm not and I'm enjoying it. And if you're Star Wars fans of course the Mandalorian is great on Disney+. And on Netflix, last series I watched was Bridgerton, I think Anna will like that one. Took me a bit to get into it but then I really enjoyed it. Bridgerton is like Jane Austin meets 50 Shades of Grey - LOL. And Parks and Rec just dropped on Netflix - a series I want to watch at some point.
The opposite is happening here with the housing / condo market. Everything is going up and people are buying and selling like crazy. The Mandalorian was so so good. That ending wow! - Trevor
