I have friends that this helps a lot. They have trouble reading so this is a godsend. I only there was a option to use the Natural voices Windows 11 offers. I know you get free access to a extent on some of the service but sometimes it doesn't cut it. And there are no TTS voices you can download. But I understand there is only very limited number of people able to work on this in there free time. Other then that, This guide is awesome and thank you for making it to help others.

I hope eventually it gets easier to add accessibility options like this to games. I don't LOVE AI being added to everything but this is a big exception for me as I think natural sounding voices would make it a lot easier to casually enjoy the story. My dyslexic ass struggles with all the FF names for sure.

When I try to save and login on Amazon poly inside of final fantasy 14 it says failed to log in no such host is known. I followed everything step by step like butter. It does not work anymore
i would like to confirm this did not work for me, it said no voices available for the current region (us-east2) not sure what the issue could be. unfortunate
any chance of getting a how to for Azure? i have been googling high and low and i cant seem to find anything. i have it setup with polly now, thanks to this video, but i just wanted to setup azure for comparison sake. so far the best tts seems to be the ElevenLabs, but that 10000 character limit is crazy low, i burnt through that just doing some testing and they're expensive too.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make TTT read menu names outloud? Like you would when going through the Character, Duty, Logs, Travel, Party Social, System? My partner currently cannot see, and being able to heard the names of each menu as she scrolls through with the D-Pad would help immensely. The same goes for inventory, having each item read to you outloud while in there would be really helpful. If this is already possible, please let me know how. We already utilize JAWS

May I ask does your partner play other games? If so what games? and do they struggle due to lack of TTS / accessibility within the game?
She has only used TTS in World of Warcraft and FFXIV, she has had an impairment for quite some time now, but only more recently has she not been able to see at all. She does use JAWS for basic computing but has not figured out how to utilize it in video games, namely FFXIV, since JAWS does not appear to be reading any of her menus or chat for that matter. That's why we attempted using TTT, which has helped in most places, but just not menus, dialog boxes, loot, and inventory tooltips. @@icepantha

This is awesome, however...I have a couple friends at SE America.....and they told me the next expansion will have this as an option with their own voices... they have been working on this for a few years now.
The bot still does TTS in voiced cutscenes, despite me having the setting turned off. Any help please ? Edit: I found out you can toggle the keybind to disable TTS in voiced cutscenes, but sadly the keybind doesn't work with the Chat2 plugin, I'm trying to find a workaround to this x.x
Glad to hear you found the key bind toggle, I did briefly mention it in the tutorial, all good glad you figured it out. :) Also, I do apologise, unfortunately I'm not sure regarding the chat2 plugin I have never used it, but happy to look into it if you can't figure it out.
@@icepantha haha thanks for your reply. Found out it was actually a Chat2 setting that was preventing keybinds from activating, toggling that setting off allowed the disabling TTS keybind to work in cutscenes 😄
Hey, Once you click Show access key do you copy it by ctrl + c and paste it into the dalamud plugin by ctrl + v? or do you manually type it out? Once entered did you press login / save button? Anyone else getting a high ping when using Amazon Polly? Ends up in 'Connection with the server was lost' error and game boots me out. I have a 800 Mbit fiber so speed shouldn't be a problem :/
Hey, you can bind a key shortcut, it displayed within the settings at the top, however, you should be able to set it so reads only NPC characters within the settings. I do not have it installed anymore unfortunately.

Hey, sorry late response. The way you do it is set a key bind which is within settings so you can enable and disable the TTS. With the voices you can get a 12 month free Amazon polly, but has a limited amount of words, but then have to pay for it afterwards As of fully free I’ve not found any good ones as of yet.
This is a really good tutorial, unfortunately the voices are terrible and actually ruin the experience and emersion of the game. Great tool for individuals with certain disabilities though.

You have to dl the "test" version of it by selecting to allow "test plugins" in the Dalamud settings. Then DL it and walla!
