    thanks for making the video. It worked for me. I did have to disconnect both ends of he harness. I actually removed it. The sunroof has worked for over a year. You saved me an expensive dealership charge

    This video saved me taking the 2017 suburban tot he dealer to identify the problem! I first checked to fuse labeled "sunroof" on the passenger side and it was good. Was about to order new control buttons to eliminate those from the being the problem before moving on to replacing the sunroof motor before seeing this video. I located the cell phone charging fuse on the driver's side and sure enough, it was blown. Checked the wiring in the console, and just like the video, it was frayed. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Wife is extremely happy now!

    You are the man! I'm a gm tech but in truck shop and got given one of these today with the same problem. I usually work on the diesel trucks and never had this issue. Just checked and sure enough wires were chopped in half. Got a new extension harness and working like a charm! Thanks!

    I know it's old but worth a shot. I already checked the fuses, and they are fine. Any other reason?

    • @showme18
      @showme18  3 місяці тому

      Hard to tell. Different models might be wired differently or have a different fuse. I would see if you have power going to the sunroof motor when pushing the switch. You did check the control fuse and the actual power fuse correct?

  • @mcm3275
    @mcm3275 2 роки тому +1

    How did you get the arm rest apart to access those wires??

    • @showme18
      @showme18  2 роки тому

      If it was me I would just unplug the harness that powers it instead of trying to repair the wires because if just for charging phones and doesn’t work with newer ones anyways. To get the back cover off remove the rubber tray and there will be 4 torx screws. Remove screws and pull out, there will be a few clips that still hold it but just pull straight out and it will come. Unplug harness that is going up to charging pad and your good.

  • @dempseydoodles
    @dempseydoodles 3 місяці тому

    If you just unplug it and leave the wires that are broken off inside down there that technically doesn’t fix the issue. It’ll still short, correct?

    • @showme18
      @showme18  2 місяці тому

      If you unplug the wires on the supply side there is not power to the bad spot were wires are shorted. The only thing that won’t work is the wireless charger, and most people don’t use it anyways cause phones are too big anyways

      @@showme18 that was it and just fixed it. I pulled the wire out it was cut like yours. I spliced em back together pulled the clips out that hold the wire in place to give it more slack hopefully it doesn’t do it again. But thanks for the video saved me alot of time.

    I’m still having issues with mine all fuses are good and the sunroof will work intermittently I’m thinking switch but then sometimes I press the switch and I can hear a click so I’m not sure if it’s the motor😢 please help

    • @showme18
      @showme18  Рік тому

      If it’s intermittently then it won’t be a blown fuse. There is almost no way to diagnose remotely. Check wiring, fuse box for corrosion or loose pins, switch, loose connections.

      Make sure you unplug the power side of the harness. It has to still have power to short out.

      @@showme18 the power side? Do you mean the wire that goes down into the back of the console?

    So do you unplug the charging pad or the charging pad fuse?

    • @showme18
      @showme18  Рік тому +1

      Unplug the charging pad wiring harness. It’s accessed from the back of the center console. Then you need to replace the special equipment fuse (SEO fuse)and sunroof should work if that was your problem.

      @LS-hx1ek Рік тому

      @@showme18 I just replaced the SEO fuse, and the sunroof works fine now.
