Hey Kevin, as someone in the aviation sector....The helicopter the Iran President was killed in was an extremely old helicopter that couldnt be maintained well due to sanctions from western countries. Not saying no 3 letter agencies were involved. Just take that into account when you think about it.
Also you are comparing US helicopter pilots to Irans. They dont have the best pilots nor do they have the best equivalent to the FAA as far as aviation regulation. Aviation crashes are extremely rare in America for a reason, we have good regulation. Still I guarantee if you looked it up...way more helicopters have crashed than planes in the last 20 years. Helicopters often rely on 1 engine as well compared to commercial jets which have at least 2 and can fly totally fine temporarily on 1 engine. If a helicopters engine has issues, they are going to begin falling like a rock out of the sky.
Helicopters are notoriously harder to fly than planes. In bad weather and/or extreme fog it can be 5x harder.
Irans air force in general is extremely old due to sanctions. The newest fighter jet they have are F-4's which are 30-45 year old fighter jets. About as old as the helicopter the Iran President was in when he died. Which was many decades old. You simply should never fly such an important person in such an old helicopter or plane imo. Especially when they knew the maintenance hadn't been done exactly as needed due to western sanctions. They likely cut corners and though their work was "good enough" and we aren't sure if any of this played a role in the crash or if it was purely pilot error...but many factors can come into play. It's not as simple as saying "helicopters just don't crash in the fog"....
Actually Iran has great pilots. it’s easier to control modern planes and helicopters than the old ones!

@@narsis273Have you heard about the time that the US Navy destroyed half of Iran's Navy in about 1 day? In Operation Praying Mantis. The Iran fighter jet pilots who responded and got shot at, ran away. I believe 1 got shot down by a US pilot from very far away.
Also numerous times when the US has drones near the Iran border, Iran will send fighter jets to try to intercept them or even shoot them down. Numerous times they are being escorted by US F-22s or F-35's that the Iran pilots cannot even see or detect and think they are alone until the US pilots come on the radio and basically tell the Iran pilots to go back home or else and they listen to Daddy and go back.
They know their abilities and planes have no chance against ours. Not just cus they are newer aircraft either. It's a combination of newer aircraft and much more advanced trained pilots.
