Herky is a 9 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and she is starting to show signs of aging. We went to the vet to make sure everything was in check. She is in perfect health and the signs of aging she is showing are perfectly normal and expected.

They are. It should be FDA approved for dogs over 40lbs soon. Search for "LOY-001 anti aging" this gives us hope for small dogs. Also search for "V Clamp for dogs" this is a new innovating procedure for heart murmurs.

When we got our Cav a few weeks ago, we got insurance that covers everything. Vet bills are so expensive now. I cannot imagine having pets without it.

My girl, Barbie, is 14 and developed a heart murmur this year. She's healthy otherwise. She's wobbly. I thought she was having mini seizures and you've calmed my fears. She goes to the vet 2x a year now because of her heart. He said to try to get a video of her mini seizures but they're so tiny and quick I don't have time to get them on video. But she's just wobbly. Just apart of aging! I'll tell my vet it's nothing to be concerned of. Thank you! This breed is the best companion to have. She has so much love and is such a sweet girl!
Wow 14!! And wobbles at that age must be more common. Now I wonder if it’s early for Herky! 😢
my cavalier is 8 and got dignosed with a murmur on fluid on his heart on 100.00 medication, he has seizures its from the murmur vet said.

Piper is 11 now and Claire is 10. This video has eased my fears about what I’m seeing in my Cavaliers. It’s just normal aging, but we do tend to go to the vet more now than we used to do.

@@herkythecavalier Piper has had knee replacement surgery ($6,000) and five years ago Claire had back surgery for a ruptured disc ($19,000). But now are both very healthy, although we’re seeing the slow down you’ve observed in Herky. They do sleep longer and more now, and we have had them on hydrolyzed protein prescription diet (Royal Kanin) that has helped them with the digestive tract problems they once had.
Hi i had a cavi tri colour ben he sadly passed away at 7 years old he had heart trouble since he was born so a cavi to reach 9 is awesome they are amazing loving daft dogs and make great pals

I have a 16 year old Pom Maggie and my Pomchi Lexi lived to be 19. It can be scary and challenging to care for very senior dogs. My 16 year old sleeps all day, has poor hearing and her eyesight is poor. She also needs to be in a stroller for walks due to joint issues. Bottom line, they are like older people, get them to the vet often and give them lots of love and compassion. Also both my dogs slept on the bed, when they got to age 14 they started sleeping in their own beds so they don't fall off. I think that is typical....Thank you for this video, we need more information on canine cognitive disorder to help people that are newer dog owners and to get people to adopt older dogs.

Vet costs have gotten totally ridiculous. I'm in California. My Vet charges $85 for just the office visit. I was also quoted by 3 different Vets the price of $750-800 for a simple neuter of a male. My SPCA charges $200. The Vet charged me $490 to euthanize my dog. That included cremation with no return of the cremans.

My prior dog Skipper a Parson Russell was 16 years old when she passed away. She went down hill very fast in about 1 month. She had lost her hearing prior to her death.

Bonjour Mai, je commencerai par te souhaiter à toi et ta famille une bonne et heureuse année 2024. Quelle soit douce et remplie de beaux projets. Merci pour ton vidéo. Médoc a exactement les mêmes signes, tremblements , plus de jappements quand il sort dehors à la noirceur, ses pattes arrières sont moins fortes et donc il glisse plus sur le plancher de bois. Nous avons ajouté du tapis dans les escaliers juste pour lui faciliter la tâche. Il dort beaucoup plus longtemps et cela ennuie un peu son ami le chat. Son coeur va some toute assez bien. Le médicament fait son travail et il a aussi un nouveau médicament lorsqu'il tousse trop., au besoin. on doit aller voir le cardiologue au 6 mois maintenant. Il adore toujours aller de hors quand il fait frais et même froid mais moins longtemps. Son plus grand plaisir est la marche dans les sentiers en forêt. Il attend la neige avec impatience cette année :-) On profite donc de chaque journée car il sait encore nous faire rire et nous offre beaucoup d'amour. Vive les CKC!!!
I'm going through the same aging process with Charlie, he's 12 now. He was just at the vet. Loosing muscle mass too, cloudy left eye, cataract in right eye. He has always preferred to sleep in the floor but even more now because the steps to the bed are harder for his to maneuver. He also doesn't like his teeth looked at, he had a lot removed 3 years ago. All blood work was done too and all good! My cost was $500. Going to send to insurance hoping a little something is covered.
So I understand your concern about the aging process. I've had 3 girls before and all had murmurs. Thankfully none have been detected on Charlie.

What I did for my girls, because my bed was high, was get stairs. It was very good for them, and I never had to get them any joint surgeries from jumping off the bed.. Since it was just the two girls and me in the bed, I got a queen size bed guard for the side of the bed, which they loved,to avoid any falling accidents. I know you can't get the bed guard because there are two of you, but maybe the stairs. You don't really want them to fall off the bed. I got eye drops for the girls, and that seemed to help their cloudy dry eyes. The cost of the blood tests sounds about right. Cleaning the analysis glands was always a separate fee. The office visit incorporates the amount of time they spend with you, You could ask for a price list for many of their procedures plus the different prices of office visits, depending on the level. If they have a problem with that, you need to find a different vet.
