- Milton has tear stains and here is what worked for us.
We recently got to Florida and noticed the water was not the same as Canada. The water is harder and contains high levels of chemicals. We immediately noticed Milton getting more tear stains but her smell was gone, oddly.
What worked for us is as soon as we installed a whole house water purification system and reverse osmosis, it seems her stains are slowly starting to fade.

I knew that Milton had stinky eyes from tears but I didn't think that the water in a town you would live in would impact this. I hope that the modifications to the water have really helped Milton. Much love to you all X❤

My dog (also a cavalier, Yoko❤) sometimes has such spots, I associate them with nutrition, something will eat unsuitable and there is an allergic reaction, on such days I use chlorhexidine, wash these areas, monitor nutrition and everything goes quickly) Thank you for sharing your experience, be healthy! ❤We love both Herky and Milton very much❤❤❤, we have been watching you since the time when Herky was your only one)😊

Thanks for the information! Up to now I haven't had this problem with my dogs but I noticed some tear stains in the puppy Brenda......I wasn't thinking about the hardness of the water and now I'll check 👍🏻❤️🙋🏼♀️

Thanks for the tip, my Patrick gets stinky stains but I just was him face with just water. I am going to get the tear stain shampoo and see how that goes
Hi, my name is Lisa. I have watched your videos for years and will be getting my furbaby, Nina the first week in March. She is Blenheim and I am in love with her. I was told 2-3 frozen blueberries fed to her a day will help with the tears
This is true I heard that too!
My 9 month old Blenheim has tear stains, as well. I fold over a paper towel, dampen it with warm water and wipe the stained areas with it. I then take a dry paper towel and wipe again. I do the same thing with our 8 month old, Ruby. Both of them have tear stains, but they can't be seen with our little Ruby. I do this at least once a day and it seems to help. Luckly, their little eyes aren't stinky. :) Our home is on softened and filtered well water.
What worked for my Cavalier was Angel Eyes. It’s a powder that you can put in their food but my baby actually liked licking it out of a bowl by itself. That was when she was a puppy. Now, at 7 years old, she no longer gets tear stains.
We have the same problem with the odor on both our cavies. We started using Poof. We use it by spraying it on a wet cloth and then wipe their faces. It really works and gets rid of the smell. We don’t have trouble with the staining but it might help that too. Great product.

My cavalier gets tears, rust stains, but it often smells quite foul. Any ideas on what the cause could be? Is it common with CKCSs, and does it have a treatment, cure, or preventative measure?
I have a Cav myself and yes he has tear stains. He drinks bottled water only.
Vet recommended to clean his stains with saline 3 times a week !!!

Hi Mai❣️ Great vid. 👍🏻 Maddie's eyes used to be stinky, but no more. Not sure what changed. Also, since the day i brought her home (9 weeks) I give her bottled water. Also, I use OptixCare eye wipes on her eyes every morning. She's lucky I guess no tear stains and she turned 6 on February 3rd.

Also, we were giving bottled water but it does not have fluoride which can impact teeth
I live in Florida and my cav gets stinky tear stains. I use wipes in the morning when I remember to which helps! I give my dog filtered water but I’ll try doing bottled.

Charlotte had a blocked tear duct. Eye doc cleared it and gave her eye drops. Stains and watery eyes went away. Good luck

We use a cream that is actually water based for Eevee's tear stain and it works well. I can find you the name if you want
We have five Cavaliers and have battled tear stains. We found that a splash of Kiefer on their food solves the problem.

Our eight-year-old Cavalier King Charles only drinks Reverse Osmosis… Never had tear stains, FYI 🐶
My wife thinks I spoil our Cavie already. If I go to her and say we need to give him bottled water too, I dont know what she will think.🤣

It’s yeast. I use eye envy, the cleaner and powder.
Has the dog been checked for dry eye. That could be causing the excess watering. A lot of cavalier owners use refresh eyedrops to combat Dry eye
The dog goes to the vet periodically and they did not report any dry eyes on the dog.
I noticed my girl's eye smell started when her tear stains stopped too
Looks like dry eyes. Organic castor oils helped.
