For Verizon you can do it in the app too! For customers not using it, it will often show up on the Home Screen as a tile and you can toggle it on for each number or you can go to Account -> Edit Profile & Settings -> Number Lock and enable it there
For ATT you can ONLY do it within the ATT app on your device not on the website. It's called "Wireless Account Lock". If you turn it on even you yourself can't make a SIM change without turning it off. Also all phones on your account will be protected. It was literally just swiping a slider to turn it on. If you need to make a change you just slide it off!!!
Here in New Zealand this feature is automatically added for eSIM and you can only transfer an eSIM to a new device by going to a providers store and asking them to do it for you
What difference does it make if supposedly the store managers are getting paid off to release the Sims and info. I've heard Google fi is more secure against sim swapping though.
AT&T, which apparently has no tech support in the US any longer, forced me to go to a physical store to do this. The sales clerks had no idea what I was talking about. Finally the manager emerged from the back and got it set up. American Telephone and Telegraph… started in 1875 by that guy who invented the telephone.
If this is done on the primary account holder's account, does each individual user in the account have to do it as well, or does it automatically apply for all?
When I go to my T-Mobile settings, I get to MORE, but that's as far as I can go. There is no "PROFILE SETTINGS. Just HELP & SUPPORT, MANAGE MY DATA, AND PRIVACY & POLICIES. I'm on a galaxy s21 ultra
In T-Mobile app: Setting > Security > SIM Protection There you will see it at the bottom of the screen. You must be the Primary Account Holder. Toggle it on. No passcode/PIN required.

This is helpful. However, don’t feel too safe still. The bad guys have ways to get your calls and texts forwarded to another number without doing a full sim swap. Plus, they can also sim swap within the same carrier and account with the assistance of rogue/paid off carrier employees and social engineering.
eSIMs aren't going to prevent this looooooooooooooool, SIM swap scams work on esims as well. Service on an esim can still be transferred out to another phone. Scammer just has to call your provider, say they lost their phone and give a sad sob story till your carrier agrees to transfer the service from your eSIM to another sim for the scammer lol
Giving specific instructions for each major carrier was incredibly helpful.
For Mint > using Mint app on phone > Account > Number Lock
Very informative. Thanks so much for posting.
This is one of the best and helpful tech security I have ever come across!!
Thank you so much!!

A Verizon customer thanks you!!!
For AT&T, mine was Settings > Billing Contact Info > My Linked Accounts > Manage Extra Security
awesome. Pinning! thank you! Multiple ways to go about it.
Very helpful, thanks for providing this information!

I use Google Fi. This was very helpful. Thank you!!!
Just enabled this for my sim! Thanks for the info!
I heard about this from Clark Howard! Thank you for sharing for each big carrier!
Verizon 611. Took less than 5 minutes and it was SO easy. Thanks for the info.
Consumer Cellular Plz? Thx!
Do you setup to lock security to the act not to each line within family plan?
is there a way to do this with xfinity mobile ? thank you

That's precisely the vulnerability problem - someone in a store being able to do it. You don't want that. Low paid employees are too easily bribed.

you are really good
Ok, I got it. Thanks.
Verizon wireless number lock IS enabled, but if it isn't it starts at 3:17
Thank you. Mine is locked now.

Sherri is breathtakingly too cool for school
AT&T app already allows to lock sim to prevent sim swap.

Will this functionality be coming to MVNOs like visible and Mint? I want to protect myself and family
Just looked in Mint app & it's there.
Mint has it
For T-Mobile app
Settings
Security
SIM Protection
Thank you! Very helpful!
So if you do this, and then your phone is lost of stolen, you have no way to port your number etc over to another phone. What good is that?!?!?
I have that on Verizon prepaid account on my Motorola g power 5g 2024.
What is there to keep someone from calling 611 and giving them your number and unlocking it?
I don't have a Manage Security in my ATT account. Now what?
Neither do I. This is bs.
You have to install the AT&T app first. It can only be done through the app.

@@r.2.d.2i have TMobile. I called them and have my SIM locked unless I go into a retail location to show them my ID. They can do that.
People begged the auto manufacturers to add more tech to their new car offerings... Now your car also have a SIM card. Satisfied yet? SMH
There are NO chapters! STOP LYING!
