Astatine is even more rare than Francium, but, like Francium, placing a dollar value on it is kind of silly. It would make more sense to monetize the effort and resources required to artificially create a microscopic quantity of it. That depends on the capabilities of technology, economies of scale, and the practical value of the result.

4 years ago, when this video was posted, scandium metal 99.999% cost US$5800/kg or US$5.80/gram, NOT US$270/g as this video claims. An exaggeration of 46 times. The current price, 3 January 2024, US$5,525/kg or US$5.53/gram. The total current world market value is ca. US$500 mio/year, definitely not US$2.7 billion. Scandium is used in really very tiny quantities as an aluminium alloy in some applications in order to improve weldability.

They do make Californium at the Y12 facility in Oak Ridge TN. They take neptunium and irradiate it in a very high flux nuclear reactor that successively forms several heavy isotopes like Berkelium and Fermium on the way. Needless to say the process to refine it is tedious and a bit dangerous.
