More than 30 years later and she still runs! Classic and solid. Nostalgia and childhood! See, these were still popular when I was born in the 90s, too! I remember seeing a few of these as a little kid, in the late 90s. I once drove a '94 Benz C-class, myself, in high school! All of these 80s and 90s cars all have stories to tell, folks. Something that can't ever be found on today's vehicles, regardless of year, make, model, and trim. This, like many other cars you find Flexiny, are such underrated gems. Props to you for bringing these all back to life. It brings us all nostalgia, all over...

Almost bought a used 4-speed manual (yes, 4) 200D back in 1992. Left it because it was, even for those days, so underpowered. Given the strict emission regulations now, this one is for the museum I'm afraid, or Africa :-) I do love the tank-like engineering on these older MB's though. They just refuse to stop running. The 200D was a 4 cylinder, the bigger engines had 5 or 6 cylinders, and made for that unique sound. This one has 283k on the odo, still in its childhood :-)

I had installed new plugs and wires a year or so prior because I had hope he’d give it to me sooner but PATIENCE YOUNG GRASSHOPPER 😂😂 Anyway, I went to go see my parents and I wanted to take a crack at the Mercedes. Had all my tools, a battery for it, and all the appropriate parts. Took a lil bit but she cranked over. I was surprised. I didn’t think she was going to start but hey. @@DrumToTheBassWoop The mercedes has gone up with reliability .I know a lot of people with a mercedes and I also own one .The reliability is almost Toyota reliability . Mercedes has really stepped up their game . Bmw I would not really say its reliable but its sort of . If you buy a used mercedes .just buy one in good condition and I can guarantee it will last a long time and many miles . People think if a Audi is junk then they assume all German cars are junk even tough thats not true . Toyota has been trying to add more tech to the cars and Toyota is new to the luxury car world . Toyota may be less reliable than a German car in a couple of years .

@@apexseal2811 I doubt it really, after 16 years it's still high at the back, every w124 that has asd without niveauregulierung has two return lines to hydraulic container while only niveauregulierung cars have just one, although there are some rare occasions when the car has both systems. I looked to retrofit niveauregulierung on my 220E with asd and found out that retrofitting niveauregulierung on the car that has already asd is very easy but retrofitting asd on a niveauregulierung is very complicated.

This comes from a long gone era, when cars were built to last. It was not a good business for Mercedes because these things were never breaking down and they were over engineered so the profit margin was very slim. At the beginning of the 2000’s Mercedes’ quality started to decline. I own a 2007 w211 diesel and 2011 S212( W212 wagon) and the difference in quality is huge . The 2011 has so much plastic!!!

In some countries the safety inspection is pretty intense. Even some mild rust in the rockers is enough to keep it off of the road. You going to spend $2,000 on a car It's not even worth $1,000?
It certainly does suck, but that's how a lot of this happens.
Look at Japan, after a car is 3 years old it has to have a extremely extensive safety examination I believe it costs $1,000 every 2 years, once it's 5 years old it has to have that same safety inspection every year. Plus whatever the tags and registration costs.
Other countries like the United States it varies state to state. But you'll see cars driving along with bailing wire holding the fenders on. As long as the lights and signals horn and emergency brake work they really don't care.
And there are a few states inside the US where there's no inspection at all.
