Great work again sir, just finished reading the first three books again and no matter how many times I read them I find myself drawn in and held captive by the story. Bakker has truly built a rich and believable world with characters that are the same.
It's been fun re-reading with the Unholy Consult glossary right by me. He really has created such a magnificent world. I'm excited for these next couple videos. Cnaiur meeting Kellhus is arguably some of his best written sections IMO, at least in this first trilogy.
Dude I love your videos ! I've watched each at least 2 times, the only nitpick I have is the pronunciation of the names, I love the names in this series ! they are really cool, character and location names, the names of the peoples, and the gods, but I say this in the nicest way, you are a butcher, have you listen to the audiobooks ?
Great work, as usual. Your rendering of Conphas in particular is still 100% on point. Sarcellus, though... gives off a diversity hire vibe. Is it mentioned anywhere that he's of a darker complexion than anybody else? Esmenet is still gorgeous, if a bit youngish-looking for a 30+ prostitute. Not sure how obvious the age difference between her and Serwe will be.
Sarcellus is described as being Ketyai. "They are a black-haired, brown-eyed, dark-skinned race predominantly concentrated about the Three Seas." It's all up for interpretation right? I agree with Esmi looking a little too young in some of these, it's really hard to get Midjourney to cooperate and generate consistent characters. Thanks for watching though!
@@cursedarmada88 Sarcellus is indeed Ketyai, but so are Achamian, Esmenet, Proyas, Conphas, Xerius, Fanayal... most of the characters we meet. Even the Norsirai Maithanet passes for Ketyai simply by dying his hair black. Sarcellus looks more like the Satyothi, the black-skinned and black-haired people of Zeum (and presumably the southern continent Kutnarmu too).
@@SockPuppet80 I think you're right. He's been a challenging character for me to imagine to be honest. In one of my earlier episodes I made him white, and I got some flack for it. Can't seem to win! I appreciate you pointing that out to me, the races have been difficult to get right, but I'll keep that in mind moving forward.
@@cursedarmada88 Hey, no worries, ultimately it doesn't matter at all how you map them to real world races. (Least of all for a shapeshifting android.) You're doing great, just keep at it!
@@SockPuppet80 thanks again for watching! Doing my best! I'm just glad the majority of fans seem to be digging it. I'm looking forward to the next episode, it's probably my favorite chapter of Book 1. Cnaiur finally meeting Kellhus...
