    200B water and 10B per unit electricity is steep. Usually it's like 20B a cubic meter, and say 7 a unit, so they're trying to get a little bit back given the low rent.

      Yeah, it works just fine for me.... I've heard of people doing that working half the year, staying here half the year thing. Just make sure you budget properly for the entire six months, including things like emergencies and visa runs. As long as you have good fiscal discipline, should be no problem :)

    Hi There - you might want to know that the owner willingly employs THIEVES and even with CC footage of the guy leaving my apartment zipping up a money belt he did nothing. The police were informed and not surprisingly for thailand did nothing- even though everyone knew who it was.
    I interviewed the owner who walked out half way when I refused to answer the question on how many rumours of money being stolen have their been - after he acknowledged their were rumours. After this he just threatened me.
    Shame as this is a nice location but the owner is either complicit or willfully negligent and does nothing to protect his guests - he even stated that he is NOT responsible if his staff steal from his guests!
    I have recordings of the interview if anyone is interested

      @@ThriftySteve - Yeah it was the young(ish) cleaner who owns the very nice new motorbike. the owner didn't give a shit. Didn't fire him or reprimand him in anyway. He carried on working there as if nothing had happened and openly mocked me. My guess they're related and this has been an ongoing thing for a long time. The owner did admit to hearing rumours of theft there a few times but then he stopped talking to me and started avoiding me at all costs.

    wow looks small but the area around looks nice,the price its good. I been in chiang mai thinking about make a move to Thailand probably Chiang Mai I was around a few weeks ago looking in the university area but could not see that place. In some places they don't let you cook inside if you rent apartment, in this place looks like no problem? Also I visit some condos I think the lower price it is 8000 or 9000 baht but some of them you can cook little things only on the microwave because you can activated the fire alarm shit in your own condo you pay for rent this is the thing I don't understand but its ok chiang mai food its good and not too expensive but sometimes its better eat at your home place and not always microwave food, so I think there must be at least a apartment or condo who can let you cook with a kitchen only to plug in and without oven.

      @ThriftySteve  5 років тому +3

      Chiang Mai is a phenomenally safe city, definitely one of the reasons it's so popular. It's the kind of place you can forget your wallet in a restaurant and you have a good chance that no one will touch it. My friends often leave their keys right in their motorbike because crime is so infrequent. Usually when some kind of theft happens, it's another tourist that is the perpetrator

    • @ThriftySteve

    • @naren2k6

      That is normal to charge cleaning fee, most places also charge 400 bahts management fee too, like the place I stayed in BKK, all normal. I was paying $220.00 per month for a serviced apt in BKK, a bit out of the centre and a moto ride to BTS station, but in BKK that's reasonable rent.

      Sounds cool, when you apply a Thai visa from US, don't you have to show your proof of accommodation for the days you will be staying in Thailand? And how does you manage to show 2 or 3 months of stay and then land in Chiang Mai, and do a apartment hunting and rent an apartment?
      Being an Indian i need to show some proof of residence but of-course i cant book hotel for two months and then cancel it later on, most of the time there is cancellation fee or it non-refundable.
