A review for the Sony A99 and A7rii, two high end Sony DSLR for photography and video. This is a great guide if you need to know what camera to buy as a new photographer, or planning on upgrading to the Sony A7Rii from an A mount or lower end camera. The lenses used are as follows:

Great comparison. I own both and I differ from your conclusion about hiking. The A7rII feels fragile and my A99 looks like it's been through hell, but it works perfectly. I took out the SLT on the A99 and there is definitely an observable step up in image quality in High ISOs. The A7rII has been great for me at events, because my bag is definitely smaller, but for rain, desert and when I don't know what will come, the A99 is a tank.

Hello, I would like to ask you a question. I have had an A99 for 7 years and reading your comment, I think I understand that you have removed the translucent mirror to your A99. Does the camera work well without the mirror? Lose any function without it? Do you appreciate a higher overall quality? Thank you
I just recently bought a Sony A99 body from a pawn shop for $400. I also picked up a couple of lenses from Ebay, a Minolta Maxxum 50mm and a Sony 55-200mm. I totally love it and can't wait to use it more and more. I also own an A6000, A5000 and an NEX-5R. I am totally sold on the Sony ecosystem of mirrorless cameras. I'm on a very limited budget but I plan to slowly upgrade as I get better in my photography. (Sony A7iii I have my eyes on you) ;-)
Thank you for doing this! I’m trying to decide between selling my A99ii for an A7r iii or just keeping it. There don’t seem to be many direct comparisons between the A mount and E mount so happy to find this one! I went to MSU so love seeing Springfield as well!
@M Tech I did end up selling the A-mount gear and got the A7r iii really happy with the smaller lighter camera package!

AMAZING VIDEO. I own the a7rii but considering getting the a99ii as a backup
a99ii is superior to a7rii....
you should have gotten the very best lenses though...
Something like the 85 G Master and 70-2000 g master too for E mount
and the 135 f1.8 sony zeiss and their 70 200 g2 for A mount
Josia Wiegand yes that would’ve been nice lol sadly we aren’t sponsored by anyone so these are the lenses we already owned that we decided to make a video about. We are in the process of making more videos though. This was our first test to see the feedback :)

Gil laputa thank you! Yes we just got the a7riii, I actually convinced him to get the same camera and not go for the a99ii though so that might be a hard comparison
