The reason why she is considered an style icon is because she gravitated to capsule pieces that didn't go out of style. Even bold prints like animal or florals can be capsule
I don't feel like she was a style icon, she just had the money to buy what was in style at the time, and she looked pretty in them. She worked for Calvin Klein, who has always been a minimalist, she just followed his, and the 90's aesthetic. Just look at other women in the 90's, Jennifer Anniston, etc., all the same.
I think you’re missing that her wardrobe isn’t what was in style in the 90s (I was there for it) and was not what the vast majority wore. She chose a few basic (to her) pieces that were classics in the 30s, the 60s, (I love old movies) the 90s, and the same today and why you can wear the same thing she wore in the 90s today and it looks so high end and classic. Natural fiber goes a long way towards that classic wardrobe - wool, silk and linen, cotton - and it’s what I see when I look at her pictures.
I think It is afwul wrong to put Jennifer Aniston in the same category as Carolyn Bessette, as much as I like Aniston, it is just not fair to compare it with Carolyn.
@@zapacila2955 I think it was Jennifer Aniston as Rachael Green in the late 90's a la Ralph Lauren years, also when Reese Witherspoon played Rachael's sister on friends, it was all tailored solid colors, quiet luxury, very common for the time.

Do people who pay $15,000 for one single jacket understand that there are seniors trying to live off social security, with benefits less than $20,000 for the entire year?
There are articles online about Lauren Bisette. She was so accomplished. Spoke fluent Mandarin, earned an MBA, worked in China and Manhattan at Morgan Stanley. She was very well liked by her colleagues. She achieved a great deal of success at a young age, and was considered exceptionally beautiful.
As someone who lived through this era, I don’t recall her being considered a fashion icon. Looking at the photos in this video, she has a very Minimalist Urban look, but it wasn’t a look she pioneered, but shared with many others of her time. But to collectors of 90s memorabilia or items connected to the Kennedys, could have some value. But this segment feels like an overhyped Sotheby’s advertisement.
It's sad she's dead, but it's not like she was Princess Diana or Marilyn Monroe. She really wasn't that iconic to warrant collectors paying top dollar for her clothes.
Oh please. They were not royalty. Give us all a break. The father Joe, was a bootlegger during the prohibition and bribed the unions to vote for JFK. Really Jackie was the only one w style
Carolyn was consistently in the pages of Vogue, Elle, and Harpers Bazaar when I was a fashion-obsessed teenager and young adult in the mid-to-late '90s. She possessed a casual, understated elegance that will never go out of style. 🤍
It is so funny they said that if Carolyn favored something, she bought it in every color- It reminds me of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, when ever she found a shoe or dress or blouse she would always say: I love it ill take it in every color! It is so sad that Jackie never got to meet Carolyn- I'm sure they would have gotten along famously
People were hailing Carolyn a style icon since before her tragic Death. There is a massive online fan base for her clothing choices and style. Carolyn wore the timeless, minimalistic look in a profoundly idyllic way.

Her style is still so relevent and classy. RIP ❤
They need to be on display at the kennedy library
Then you pay for them put them there

It’s a little icky to sell her clothes
agree, I think it is the way she died that makes this all macabre
THANK YOU. I said that and was called 'sick' and 'bizarre'. I can't imagine wearing a murder victim's clothes.

That would be social security's fault not Sothebys or the fashion industry.

Dying in the plane crash at age 33 with her husband and sister is lucky?
Should be on display quite sad to think they could be sold to anyone
These pieces should be at the MET not for sale
