I've never watched any of the other superhero shows, but damn. Seeing these EXACT parallels is just completely crazy! The CW really copied all of that stuff, and yet they STILL botched it so badly lol HOW did they screw this up so badly? :D It's insane!
I read somewhere that Supergirl was 'meant' to be queer, but then they decided that Alex should be Gay.
So they didn't 'made' Kara queer.
This was decided after 1x04, so this explains the 'I want to date her'
I'm not quit sure about that, i will check my sources and come back then.
It's really sad and bullshit that CW didn't let Supercorp be real, but at least we have the comics.

This is one impressive compilation.
But the most impressive thing is, really, that it is not even covering everything...
Not a complaint to you, not at all! But, dangit, the show... just kept writing and giving lines and scenes to these supposed "best friends" that in other arrowverse shows - and even in SG itself - were given to outspoken romantic interests / couples, so very often even the same lines and context.
Most of this video was focused around Kara, but I think one could also edit a whole chunk of Lena thirsting after Kara/Supergirl XD
Thank you for this collection and comparison, and the effort that went into it is very much appreciated!
(I've always headcanon'ed Kara just accidentally friendzone'd herself early on, but watching this compilation and with the reveal speech in there, for the first time to me, it seems so painfully obvious, that she loved Lena (too) and was aware of it, but already spun her web of lies, and with Lilian giving her the "she'd never forgive you" speech, chose consciously to settle for "friends", to have Lena in at least some capacity in her life... ;_; Boi, that makes every "that's what friends do" and other utterance of Kara calling Lena her "friend" after season two so very heartbreaking.)
They are very cute. If it had been Leo Luthor, they would have been a (super hyped) CANON couple . Season 5 was harrowing and season 6 was a mess and disappointment.

When Kara brings Lena the books they even used Freya Ridings - You Mean The World To Me as a song choice…. Cmon ❤

Kara and Lena's dynamic really is the same as Superman and Lois Lane. There's obvious romance between the two girls. I always wonder how are they not a couple? They are perfect as lovers❤

Yanno, I actually never really watch the whole series / episodes of supergirl. I just read tons of supercorp is all. Today, I wanna see how bad is the queerbaiting that got all my h0es hating on life. And I uh.. decided to put on my wireless headphone, play the video, leave the room and cook in the kitchen. And ohhhh boiiii...boii, oh boii. The amount of times I had to stop chopping/prepping my meal... And I'm not even watching it! I don't know what's worse; hating on the writers or mad at supercorp for enabling these dialogues?? For acting (which is their job), but still! There's no str8 explanation bruv wtf fr
ps: pause. 'That's what friends are four' and Katie's expression at 7:35 ? I just threw my spoon into my bowl. I'm not even half into the video, and I'm already overwhelmed.
p.p.s: 20:43 anddd it gets worse 😭I laughed out loud when it transitioned to Clark taking Lois to the fortress. Jesus.

that’s because the tropes are the category of explanation. the actual analysis was a paper. this is just a virtual presentation.. don’t be dense.
Yeah, you could do the exact same thing with Kara and cat, Kara and Alex, Kara and Nia, etc.
@@atr1845 except you couldn’t. some with alex, ie saving her. but that’s bc she’s her sister, and the only other person she’s willing to risk everything for. what’s in this video are legit romantic parallels and tropes. you being upset about it or refusing to accept it is not my problem.

But bottom line is if you asked anyone in the 99% of the audience that watched this show casually about the "romance" between Kara and Lena they would have no idea what you're talking about. Because the writers never at any point meant for the audience to infer more than friendship.
