I learned about St. Mariam in the Holyland. At the (still being excavated) church of Ephesus. I was struck in my soul while mass was being said in this beautiful, humble little outdoor church by three words: holy, holy, holy! I tapped the shoulder of my friend in front of me and told her-"this place is holy, holy, holy"!! She smiled and said, "yes special!". Back on the bus, we were treated to this story of a St. greatly loved by Catholics there, St. Mariam Baouardy (Mary of Jesus Crucified). Who found this tiny place buried at the time while searching for a place to build a convent. Passing by this hill(at that time buried under 12 ft. Of rock and dirt) she jumped up shouting to the bus driver to stop with only 3 words- Holy! Holy! Holy! Where they proceeded to discover the humble church buried that was dedicated to the commemoration of the spot where Christ "opened the eyes" of the disciples!!! She is a St. who was deeply faithful, humble and courageous. The little Arab unafraid for the love of Christ. I felt her battle with the demons who wished to invade her was an example to others not only of the need to ward off evil, but the sin and pervasiveness of Islam. Which is why she is so loved by the Christians there today. St Mariam of Jesus Crucified, pray for us!!
My daughter is named Miriam . . . She was my fifth child that I had age 42, and a real blessing from God and she has the name of Elizabeth after St. John's mother.
St. Miriam pray for us! Help us not to complain but to offer our pains for the Glory of God. Help us to live with humility and not to let pride poison our hearts.
I can relate a bit to her story, though mine is not as extreme: I converted to Catholicism from Islam and that was in secret from my father and his side of the family. Now, I am going to be joining Carmel if it is God’s Holy Will. The sisters have told me to look into her story, and I’m so glad that I did!
WONDERFUL !! What a great attitude change the Little Arab advises us to have and how much easier it is to accept all the good and bad that comes our way!!

Hello. Thank you for this. Pray for us.
Very good homily.
Thank you for posting this informative discourse. I recently discovered this saint and am looking for all I can find about her. God bless.

Amen Saint Mariam Of Boston Carmel Amen
Thank you.
Does anyone know what St. Mariam Baouardy is the Patron Saint of?
She is the Patron Saint of Prisoners.
Who is this priest, have they silenced him ? We don’t hear his homilies anymore.
She is a lovely saint, but the voice of the commentator does not need to dramatise her a little irritatingly. +
