I had a '56 100-4 and the driving experience was exactly as you described, an absolute blast to drive, especially on twisty roads!!!

I had a 1955 Austin Healey 100 with a Hollywood Motors LeMans Kit. Sadly I wasn't smart enough to keep it.

Having been an avid motor magazine reader at the time these were launched I have always understood that the M stood for Montlhery. They were launched in 1955 and that was the year that BMC took 5 different models to the Montlhery circuit in France to attempt to do 100mph for 1 hour. All cars achieved this aim, even the Westminster, and I believe the M designation was to celebrate this fact.

That flatulent exhaust note isn't very appealing. I'm glad my car had the 6-cylinder engine.
