  • A mother and father in Scioto County, Ohio stand trial in the death of their infant son. Young Dylan Groves was found dead 30 feet down a well last year, prosecutors said. Authorities blame the boy’s parents-mother Jessica Groves, and father Daniel Groves-for what happened. The defendants are charged with aggravated murder, murder, kidnapping, endangering children, tampering with evidence, interference with custody, gross abuse of a corpse, and four counts of felonious assault.
    Problems stemmed right from Dylan’s day of birth on January 10, 2019. The boy was born with drugs in his system, authorities claim. Daniel Groves later got the child back after showing that he followed regulations, but the defendant allegedly started missing important dates, including court dates and doctor’s appointments.
    Investigators claim that both defendants bolted on a four-wheeler when authorities dropped by the home for a checkup on May 20, according to WLTW. Deputies obtained a search warrant, got Jessica Groves to give herself up quickly, but Daniel Groves was only arrested after a six-hour standoff. Authorities said they found $42,000 of stolen items at the residence, and later found the late infant in a well.
    Deputies said Dylan Groves didn’t even make it to a full three months of age. They claim there’s evidence showing he’d been dead since March.
    A coroner determined that the victim had been slain. The child sustained several bone fractures, had been wrapped in plastic bags with duct tape, then put in milk crates that were wrapped in chains, and other bindings, according to WSAZ. The creates were weighted down with rocks and a weight, authorities said. As in his birth, Groves died with drugs in his body, according to the coroner. This allegedly included methamphetamine.

    I’m sorry but I have no sympathy for these parents and I’ve been in their shoes. I had been an opiate addict for 12 years and found out at 3 months I was pregnant. The day the doctors told me I was pregnant I stopped using drugs got on medication assisted treatment to get me off the heroin and I also stopped smoking cigarettes. My son is about to be 6 years old he is healthy and happy and I owe him my life because he is what saved me from my addiction. I work in the field now and I see pregnant addicts all the time but none of them kill their children. Addiction doesn’t create murderers. These people are selfish monsters with out without their addiction.

      Nursing is NOT all babies and mommas and the miracle of life. Women die during childbirth. Doctors have to deliver stillborns. There can be complications during delivery and the baby doesn't make it. They can be born with deformities or unforseen medical issues. I once took my elderly mother to a community talk given by a judge about wills, etc. The judge said that his probate court cases used to be all old people, but now the deceased were more young druggies, often young parents. He said it's always a mess as being in their 20's or 30's, the druggie parents never expect to die so have nothing in place as to who get the child/children (thus causing custody battles galore) or anything else related to dying.
      The judge said it's about 90% of his probate stuff is young drug deaths now. And the media applauds legal marijuana - a known gateway drug and harmful to health generally if smoked....

Those that do home care make less but they r given gas mileage pay around 13cents a mile and some places pay u on call pay and with that a few will pay part of ur cellphone bill since u have to have one when u travel when ur on call. Being a nurse u not only take care of ur patient u take care of the family as well which adds more work. • @sarrco9927

      It sucks, but it’s because the father passed his drug screens. He was peeing in front of live a person & passing. He did everything he needed to do to get the baby back. But the baby was given back & he signed an agreement that he would not allow the mother alone with the baby, she wasn’t allowed to live in the house, he was supposed to be the main caregiver & just allow her to have supervised visits with the baby. None of which it seems he actually followed. Where dcfs messed up, is it doesn’t look like they took hair samples of the husband, that they weren’t doing random weekly checks. My state requires this, sometimes it’s 2 a week & phone calls to check in, she should’ve been a high alert level so I don’t see why they weren’t. A lot of social workers don’t have that much power, it’s up to the court & parents have so many rights. It’s hard to take a child... usually dcfs works to help the family, & in the majority of cases the parents want help & things are okay. Or they take the baby... but she threw up so many red flags that a case worker should’ve seen.

    • @sarrco9927
      @sarrco9927 4 роки тому +4

      Dcfs asks for a lot & they make you jump through a lot of hoops. They should’ve & may have interviewed the older son, his school, his medical records, family.... but the flags should’ve been raised the moment she started missing her treatment. I know, we report them directly to the case worker. Occasionally things happen and you may miss one, but increased absences & lack of participation & failing her tests would’ve been reported.. & at the point, he technically had custody so they should’ve amped up the random pop ins. Or monitoring the child much more closely, interviewing the older son to see if the mom was there. It is hard to follow their supervision rules, like if he had to pee he should’ve brought he baby in with him. Catching her there would’ve had them taking the baby. So even though I don’t think he physically harmed the baby, he didn’t do what he agreed & it lead to the babies death.

    • @violet32makingit64
      @violet32makingit64 4 роки тому +6

    • @sarrco9927
      @sarrco9927 4 роки тому +7

      32makingit it is, they only temporarily took him until they could investigate the father. The father passed all his drug tests, he passed the home inspection, he signed an agreement saying he would not allow the mother alone with the baby, that she could not live in the house, he had a job... he passed everything. You can’t keep a child from a parent who didn’t do anything wrong, he didn’t deliver a baby with drugs in their system & he said he didn’t know & he proved to them he was clean. They have no case against him, they are separate people. She’s the only one they can prove was doing anything. by law they are required to return the child & then they monitor the situation. Most states don’t even take the baby into care if there is family to release him too, who pass all the checks. It’s better to keep a child with family then in foster care & parents have way more rights then the states do. The state can’t just come in & take a child from someone who proves they are capable, drug free, decent home.... these parents went to great lengths to conceal what was going on.

      It's baffling to me. I had twins that were a little early (as twins usually are) so they had to be in the NICU for a couple weeks. Not being able to cuddle My babies right away was so hard, and I was at the NICU just talking to them while they were in their incubator, just wishing I could hold them SO badly... some people shouldn't be allowed to be parents.

    This makes me so sad that poor little baby didn't stand a chance from the moment she conceived. She was so high when she delivered she didn't feel any pain! This is so sad nobody makes you have a baby and there's thousands of families desperate to be parents and these monsters have no care for the sanctity of life.

      I'm so tired of hearing how there are so many families that want children or would've take a child when foster homes are overflowing with unwanted children. Even if he had a chance at adoption, the moment they hear he was born addicted, he wouldn't have been as easily adopted. Then you have poor babies in foster care because they were born with a lot of melanin as if they had choice.....Smh lol I'm so tired of hearing that tired old line because if it were true there wouldn't be over crowded facilities or children spending their whole life in foster care. I said what I said, change my mind.

      She works in an environment where she has to communicate with women at the point of child-birth, and I don't believe that is an environment which would be conducive to her bellowing out her comments across a court-room just so the court-reporter can get it down on paper. The accoustics of these courtrooms always seems very poor. When each witness enters the witness box, they could pin a microphone onto the witnesses lapel so that it would always be close to their mouth (like they do in tv studios), and the court dj should adapt the sound levels of the microphone so that it helps the speakers be heard more clearly. Not every person has the same tone, or manner of phrase and so if the testimony really is so important to them, courts should do more to assist in that process.

They failed that baby just as bad as his sorry excuse for parents did. 12 days with a foster parent was in no way a sufficient amount of time for the parents to get their lives straight!
