Dylon is brill! The improvement on those trousers is amazing 👍 The shirt did well, looks much better, you will be far more discrete in that now. The hat didn't take the colour so well because it's so new, they bung loads of 'dress' on them to aid wear and that impairs the absorption of the dye, it still looks much better though 😊 I expect the ladies watching this will all be thinking, "love a man who knows his way around a washing machine" 😃 xx xx
I've got the matching combat trousers... was thinking of dying my desert ones darker...as I got grief for wearing crocs on my latest viddy you can have some back for your slipper boots 🤣😂🤣😂 Good results transformed them
I really like DDPM. In Australia it's an excellent camo for outback and its nice and cool in direct sun of course. Can't be bothered to dye it because the MTP I swear is perfect for coastal bush/rain forest. My wife and daughter give me hell for having so much camo now but for the work I do, all those big pockets are so handy, the fit is loose and comfy. Crazy thing is it's cheaper to buy British surplus down under than Aussie.
@@jim-bob-outdoors Exactly. Down here the light and shade balance is quite different. The greens are more blue and grey tinted. Olive green rather than bright green. Soil is many shades of red and brown rather than black. I got a bunch of DDPM insanely inexpensive so I snapped up what I could afford from Army and outdoors. It's a kiwi outfit. Need to get a basha. Need to get out and stalk some Deer for the freezer. Open season here at the moment !
I have done it with mtp to go with a real tree top it works really well The hat still has Teflon spray on it so it is still water and stain protected, you need to wash in boling water and washing up liquid to get it out before you dye it
Looks great . From loud to subdued! Isn't that the whole point of camo ? I think I'll try something like that on my camelbak hawg military camo ? First I'll try a light coloured then a mid gray , in an attempt to flatten out the camo as much as pos ? I want it so you have to look twice, is that really camo , sort of thing ? What do you think ?
@@jim-bob-outdoors I'll have a go ,when I get the right dye for nylon. If it's a success I'll put up a video , of it's a fail I'll probably still share in my misery. Ha .
not at all. The Dylon pods are designed to be used in a washing machine. Best to do a short/empty wash afterwards, just to make sure all the dye has been flushed out though.
@@jim-bob-outdoors Hmmm, I think I might have a go at this then mate. Was thinking of doing a windproof. Have you tried any other colours? I've seen some people do black and green but I think the brown seems to come out best.
@@jim-bob-outdoors Oh and Jim, does the dye spoil the flag patches? Is it better to try unpick them first and then sew them back on? Cheers for your time.
The pants are Awesome!
I was quite happy with the result. Thanks for watching.

By what I have seen on tv, it would be good in Australia. With the brown over dye, it works well here in the woods when the leaves have gone brown. 👍

Very good results mate
Yes better than I expected to be fair. JB.
Looks good for the terrain you mentioned. I was thinking of a brown / coyote dye for my army ACU camo to darken for a desert/ scrub environment .
It was an interesting experiment and I am very happy with the results. 👍
Brilliant demo Jim, giving me an idea to do some of my desert kit a darkening down for UK forests. Thanks. Harry
I was very happy with the results. Can use them a bit more now. JB.
I've used a bit of dubbin on my DesDpm vest to decent effect, still in progress though, aiming for an Mtp kind of scheme overall.
I like the shirt and trousers. Brilliant. I am thinking I might try it on my hair. No ones gonna see it for a while 😁
Will you fit in the washing machine? 😂
Jim-Bob Outdoors my head might on a good day.
Interesting experiment JB, I've been tempted to use some of them wash in dyes myself.
Always worth a go if you fancy a change in colour. 👍
I love the top you are wearing Allan and I love dessert dpm too lol
Desert no longer. 😂👍
Love the result of the trousers Jim, better than teh Jelly Bean camo colour
Yes, I was surprised and happy with the result. JB.
Interesting results Jim, the official designation for aussie jelly bean was DPCU
Take care

Nice to see what a German Flacktarn pattern would look like, dyed with that stuff.

I am going to do a few more experiments when I move back home. 👍

All good thanks mate, hope you are staying safe in your job ?
Well Jim bob just two items of my bulldog mtp kit and turned out brilliant using the espresso brown
Glad it came out ok for you. 👍😎
i tossed my desert camo shirt into forest green dylon it came out brilliant
I do like dying stuff to make it a bit more unique.
I have one of the desert cam smocks, i might try to dye that, altho it's a slightly different material it might just work

I think it will depend if it has any water proofing. Not sure being desert issue? Most cotton based stuff dyes well. Thanks for watching. JB.
Make a statement! - Clash! ;)

Did it bother your machine much?

They were nice but finally died last night. That's why I am wearing Crocs on the second half of the video. 😢
What dye did you use plz
It was a tub of Dylon Espresso Brown.
