Man just hear the vocals and stop bull staff about his appeal and questions of his sexuality...in other words grow up. Music is vocals and Prince is a myth vocalist / instrumentalist. Earth wind and fire had no vocals on falsetto or MJ? Why the questions or you just discovered Prince? Come on

I think this is from his 1st album released in 1978, I like some of his songs! He is very talented, just so you know some people may say this but there was no rivalry between MJ and Prince at all they both respected and admired each other as artists and musicians, so don't listen to that that's just something the media pushed because they were both black popular artists. Prince even performed Don't Stop Til You Get Enough and a song by The Jackaons a few years ago the performance is out there.

For all the people in the comments talking about Michael vs Prince Ill leave it here seeing a lot of comments about Prince doing all of his own Production and that" Michael did not", is a lie and a fallacy. Here’s the reality, Michael wrote and Produced a large portion of his music including 10 out of 13 of his Number One hits that were on billboard, as well as beatboxing to come up with beats, composing writing, etc, for all of his other albums as well .There are many differences between the two but the main one is that Michael believed in the quote, “if you want to go fast...go alone, but if you want to go far...go together, Michael always believed in togetherness, and as you know Seph he was in the jackson 5, then the Jacksons with his brothers, so he had always produced music with "others" he went to do his own writing etc.. in 1978, followed with off the wall in 1979. Prince was focused on making HIS best music, in his own lane, for his own ideas, he was more rock/indie. While Michael was focused on making THE best music for everyone in every nation etc.. to hear and like. Both were always phenomenal artists, but very different ways on the creation of their art, and finally they were friends not the opposite Prince locked himself in a room for three days crying after Michael had died if they "hated each other" as the press claimed why would he have cried as such? Only thing similar between Prince and Michael was they both had falsetto, but very different at the same time. And Prince had a jerry curl, in 84, Michael had one in 81/82. But overall apart from falsetto, and album releases Purple rain in 84, Thriller in 82 Off the wall in 79 Princes other album in 79, and sign o times by prince in 88, but BAD by Michael in 1987 They were not similar at ALL. Sorry for the long read just wanted to break that down for you .

Prince is indeed one man but he could do EVERYTHING! His first 2 albums were written, produced, arranged, by him alone. plus,he played all the instruments and sang every harmony. His vocal range is insane. He can go as high as he can go low. Purple Rain is his most well known album and a good place to start with his music. But Prince's real gems are his live performances.

YAAAAAAAY!!! YOU REACTED TO PRINCE!!!! I'm glad you decided to do this today because, as someone already said, he sadly passed away 8 years ago today, April 21st, about 7 years after Michael. Prince is my second favorite artist after Michael Jackson. They were both at their prime in the '80s, so of course that made them rivals according to the media, and people often compare the two. Some of my favorite Prince songs are Let's Go Crazy, 1999, When Doves Cry, Diamonds and Pearls, and my FAVORITE song of his(probably my favorite song of all time) Purple Rain. I hope you decide to react more of him. I guarantee you.... You are in for a wild ride!!!💜💜💜💜

What a curious introduction to Prince. Prince's career was massive, yet I would wager that most have not heard this song or the album from which it's taken. I had not. And if you think this song is spicy, just wait until you hear "Darling Nikki." Prince's 1984 album PURPLE RAIN is loaded with some of his greatest songs. You may have heard a couple of tunes from that record including "Let's Go Crazy," "When Doves Cry," and the amazing title track. But it's another stunner from this album, "The Beautiful Ones," that in my mind is his finest composition. It guts me every time.

I would say Prince was a natural tenor. Most of the vocal ranges given for him are comfortably in the tenor range.
However Prince could also sing in the high baritone range as well as the lower counter- tenor range.
Now I have read blogs covering the topic of Prince's vocal range. No one really seems to be in agreement.
Some put him as a baritone. Others as a tenor. One person even put him- to get even more specific- as a dramatic tenor.
Prince's voice has never been "officially" categorized by "professionals" who do that sort of thing.
Me? I'm a total plebe. I just think of Prince as a tenor 😉 What sub- classification of tenor I'll leave that to others to decide for themselves.
Anyways: I hope you are doing well this fine Sunday Seph 🎶🎸🎶😎💙🙏💕

so surprised you reacted to 'In Love'! 'In Love' is often disregarded because it's Prince going the route of (you might not believe me when I say this but) more conventional RnB I guess.. it's one of the songs tho I couldn't stop having on repeat at the beginning of my journey through Prince catalog, composition-wise I've always found it shows the guy can write, the guy can arrange, if he wants to experiment, fine, but there's the solidest of foundations here anyway and even if he didn't experiment as much as he did, I wouldn't bat an eye; he ended up experimenting a lot obviously but you get my point. Absolute mastery on the vocals as well, 'For You' is splendid to the ear, has a touch of 'Mr. Sandman bring me a dream' in it too, it's just so beautiful man

OMG! You're way into your Michael Jackson journey, and now you've poked your nose down the Prince rabbit hole! They were both born in the summer of 1958 (along with Madonna; crazy coincidence, right?) When MJ and Prince were both at the height of their powers in the mid-80's, people felt like they had to choose (because there only seemed to be one slot available for a black guy who crossed over into pop at the time) - and yes, it was as ridiculous to me then as it sounds now. I was a huge fan of BOTH (saw my first MJ concert at 4 in 1971, my first Prince concert at 16 in 1983; I got my first contact high at that one lol). Ultimately, I saw MJ in concert 10 times (his last tour in the U.S. ended in 1989 so the opportunities were limited) and Prince 18 times (the last when he did the old hits in 2011). You're in for one helluva ride if you follow your nose down this one!

His first two albums.Which the one that you have is this very first 1?He did all the instruments and vocals all by himself. Amazing. Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis king from Minneapolis and time. There were all from Indianapolis went to middle school in high school together. We're in the battle of the bands in that area. Prince later ron got his own band and hes gone through a few bands. Great music and another genius. When m j died fifty percent of music left us when prince died the rest of the fifty percent of music left us

Prince and Michael Jackson are amazing.
Will I Am from the Black Eyed Peas brought Michael with him he was doing something with Prince, he said they were watching Prince perform and prince walk up to Michael and started playing bass guitar in Michael face, he said he was ripping the bass in Michael face. Will I Am said Michael invited him for breakfast and he asked him why was Prince playing the bass in my face.
When Prince was alive he would
block his live performance and I believe all his music. We could not get his concert and music for free on UA-cam and if we did find something, you have to enjoy it as soon you see it because it wouldn't be there for long.

so I'm not well versed in prince but i do have some songs by him saved on my playlist and know some stuff just by being an MJ fan.
i love to see them as Musical and Performance Rivals. Thriller was actually sonically inspired by Prince's song 1999 and they wanted him in we are the world. MJ worried to fall out of popularity thinking prince would take his place and he actually wanted Prince to duet with him in Bad (the song).

Thats not true at all Michael did not think Prince was going to "take his place" they were friends that's why he wanted him on the BAD song, that's why he wanted him on we are the world because he was popular with his album, if anything it was more that Prince initially at first thought they were rivals after the james brown thing in 83 where he tried to run Micheael over but overall Prince and Michaels "rivalry" was made by the MEDIA.
