I leased a 2020 Bolt Premiere for a while (got rid of it during pandemic as my commute got cut to 0 miles) that was $25k out the door...lease came to zero down, $230/month. People kept asking me why I didn't get a Tesla instead - to which my response was "if you can find me a Model 3 for $230 a month I'd gladly make the switch!"
That was a really well-organized, in-depth, detailed review and I enjoyed watching it from beginning to end. Thank you for taking the time to make this review.
I have a Hybrid Accord for longer trips and bought a Bolt for normal day to day driving. I have had the Bolt for about a month and really like it. It's fun to drive and I feel a jolt of joy every time I pass a gas station. But here's the thing: Chevy has a lot of unsold 2020 Bolts that are essentially the same as the 2021s. They need to get rid of them. The sticker price on mine was $40,200. I paid $22,500. I would love to have a Tesla, but at $22K, and with the significantly lower insurance costs, there just isn't any comparison. We use the Bolt to commute to work, about 7 miles away and plug it into a 110V outlet when it's in the garage. It has a full ( 80% ) charge every morning. And there are several free 220V charging stations within a few miles of our home if needed. I would point out, however, that the model Kobra reviewed is a Premier model. The LT has many options available; mine has lane keeping, cruise, and blind spot, for example, but not the 360 degree parking aid, nor the rear view mirror cam.
Thanks for your comment. I highly recommend the Bolt to many people. My FIL was thinking about the new VW id4 but I am steering him towards the Bolt. It really is a great car at a great value.
@@colinmc2945 They have reduced the MSRP on the 2023's by $6000 and they are offering a $6300 rebate on the 2022's. You can get a new 1LT Bolt for around $31000, that includes a FREE level 2 charging system in your garage but DOES NOT include the level 3 cord for super charging. I'm a Chevy sales consultant in Arkansas and I can assure you they are ramping up production and planning huge improvements for charging infrastructure. If your local dealer is certified to sell Bolt's they will have multiple charging stations you can use for free.
Though the model 3 is a great car, but It is hard to beat a 2023 Bolt EUV for the price and the feature list. If Tesla pulls off the 25k "model 2" it will go against the next gen Bolt on the Ultium platform.
Looked at both in 2021, the Tesla screen was not made for my arthritic fingers and not in front of me, it sat to low, it sucked getting in and out of and the cheapest decent used one was 40K. My new base Bolt was 27,300. Our Chevy dealer, who we brought past vehicles from, sales people are paid salary, no commission no pressure. Have taken it back once in 35k miles for belt recall and software update, got a loaner car for the day for free. Goes and passes like heck, only maintenance is tire rotation (takes 20 min in my garage )and refilling the wiper res twice. Driving on regen is fun I hardly ever touch the brakes, my pads still look new after 35k. Base front seats could be more comfortable AC works better than heater. Have gotten an indicated 340 miles per charge light footing the throttle and driving the back road under 55mph with no heat or AC. Drive it 75+ and blast the heater and you will get around an indicated 200. I charge mine at home and have not been to a gas station in 2+ years or given a penny to Fossil FUEL Inc. Long trips are with my GF's Trax
I Love it! It's perfect for a retired 73 yr old. Charge at home with the OEM 120v charger on a designated 15A circuit so I charge at 12Amps. I do have other cars...2003 PT Cruiser; 1990 Ford Taurus wagon (305,000miles); & an RV for long trips. The new battery replacement took one day, Jan 2021. I'll keep it forever.
It’s a great car. I recommend it to many! We ended up getting our parents a Hyundai Kona EV only because we couldn’t find a Bolt in the time we needed. We will get another one soon. Thanks for watching
Nice video. But one criticism. I think you should have mentioned the Bolt actually has much more cargo capacity than the Model 3. Even if you include Tesla's small frunk.
leased bolt with taxes and everything for one pay fee of $4600. That less than the downpayment for tesla. i never stepped into a dealership for my previous bolt either in three years. in my mind, there is a clear winner
What a difference a year makes. The cheapest new model 3 is $47k and if you want autopilot then it is at least $53k. My brother just purchased a new Bolt for $26k. That means the model 3 with autopilot is more than double the cost of the Chevy Bolt.
Thanks for your well-crafted contribution, Kobra. Well organized and touched on the right issues. I'm planning on going with a Bolt soon. It stacks up well against the Model 3 in the areas that are important to me, and the Bolt being a lot cheaper clinches it. Another issue in the Bolt's favor perhaps is better access to GM's repair and maintenance network in North America. There is none for Tesla here in Nova Scotia.
@@stevepailet8258 Are you referring to the battery fires for which GM has issued its recent recall? What eventual problems might one have selling a Bolt?
@@stevepailet8258 Bolts are all getting brand new batteries with increased range, and extended warranties. Additional 12 month/12,000 miles bumper to bumper and additional 8 year/100,000 miles warranty
Very happy with my 2018 Bolt. Very happy with my 2012 Volt. Chevy has always been the alternative to Tesla... the only real competition up to 2021. However... if they ever get around to making that Cybertruck I'm getting it.
Appreciate any comments on Bolt charge times at a fast charger. My understanding is that the Bolt is limited to 50kwh because of the engineering of its electrical system and/or battery. This implies a charge time of over an hour to get to 100%. Am I correct?
DC Fast Charge:Up to 100 miles in 30 minutes. That's in the 20% to 80% range, doesn't make sense to charge to 100%, timewise, typical for EVs. Miles of range per time is a fairer measurement because bolt is energy efficient.
I’ve had the bolt since 2017 and loved the car. 2 problems though: did not trust travelling with it due to the lack of charging network, it was two small for a family of four. My kids knees were already touching both the driver and passenger’s seat. And because we’re all tall, there was nothing we could do but sell it. Bought the Tesla model y long range and I don’t think I can go back. I need a car that will meet both daily driving and long trips.
Do you remember buying your first car? We usually bought what you could afford unless you REALLY wanted that more expensive or sportier car. As more EV's come onto the market we will return to the traditional car buying habits. Both of these EV's seem like reasonable choices depending on the customers needs.
Excellent video. The new models are out but the same observations apply. The real point is that the Bolt is fantastic value for an EV. They appeal to different people but for many the Bolt is the choice car.
Exactly. My local chevy dealer receives at least 2 per week. This week, they got 4. As Alex ( on Autos ) put, ITS NOT TRYING TO BE A TESLA, IT'S NOT THE SAME THING. Some people are so fanatic, that they forget their brains God knows where.
He mentions that the model 3 is faster off the line... however me and my friend tested the 2 in a drag race. Both partially loaded with camping gear each about 100lbs. Both cars about 50 % Both in sport mode. My bolt held the lead until about 47-50mph. We tried the test first in non sport for the bolt and chill for the Tesla, the bolt was significantly faster than the Tesla in chill but only a little quicker off then line with the Tesla in regular. I will say that we did drag race on the freeway and that is where the Tesla shines! The bolt is a turd above 65mph ....in my opinion. Anyway love the video:)!
I've driven a 2017 Bolt for 3 years, a 2020 Bolt for three years and 2020 Model 3 for 3.5 years. This was a very accurate and fair review imo. If you do any long driving or weekend trips, Tesla's supercharging network and charging speeds (150 kW to 250 kW) is a must have. Bolt claims 50 kW "fast" charging but I rarely, if ever got 50 kW and the other networks would randomly disconnect the car and not charge it while was eating etc. at a charging pit stop. The bolt was an excellent daily driver, it's just not ready for longer trips if you need to charge on the road.
There's so many good things about both cars. I really wish there was some vehicle that combined both. I prefer the bolt physically. Getting in and out of the back seat is much easier if you have any kind of mobility problems. If you're going to use the vehicle for Rideshare I think the bolt is the better choice. You don't have weird door handles that people can't figure out when they're drunk. The other thing unfortunately is it just looks like a Chevy hatchback. They're so many videos on UA-cam of people intentionally damaging Tesla's because for whatever reason they hate the brand. If you want to be a little bit more anonymous but still driving electric car that has good features I think the bolt is the better choice. If you're looking to buy either of these definitely make sure you check out the back seat entry and exit. Take your grandmother with you or somebody you know that has mobility problems and let them try out each car. I have a friend that I took to the Tesla dealer and she could not get into the backseat of the model 3 the roof line was so low that she couldn't get her head down low enough or her legs up enough at the same time to even get into the back seat. She could get into the backseat of a model y but that is a hell of a lot more money. Chevy bolt was no problem for her front or back seats.
I do rideshare with my 2018 Bolt and it's worked out great. Rear seat leg & head room is very good. I used to do it with a 2014 Leaf, now that was a pain because of range.
@@shredmas The Bolt is definitely at top of my list.... I do with it DC fast charged at a higher rate . I do some road trips .. and in Texas we haul ass on interstate.. 85-90mph.. so range would be reduced. Plenty of EA chargers though. The bolt is perfect in other ways though that I could just keep my Prius for road trips .. the cost of charging on the road versus gasoline in a Prius is actually pretty similar anyway. I might consider a used Tesla Model S if I could find a nice one for a reasonable price. But for City driving that is a rather large car. And certainly not optimal in other ways. Right now used car prices are just asinine high anyway.
I went with the Bolt because it was way cheaper, nearly as fast, and the info screen on how many kw hours consumed on average based on weather and driving style is much more accessible and informative in the Bolt!
Thanks for this My commute is going from 20 mins to 1 minute to work now. I wanted something thats worth the money and finally decided it might be worth it switching to a EV, since I will only be driving two miles to work or school I am a car enthusiast so fun matters. I want a Hyundai Ioniq N but dont have Ioniq N money. Most i can afford is a cheapo used EV. Ive had a chance to drive both and enjoyed them. If i could get a E-Golf that might be the one I go for. Just depends. Thanks
Thanks for the excellent comparison. One comment... while you present the drastic drop in value as a plus for the Chevy Bolt, I see it quite differently (guess it depends on if you're going to purchase your car used or new. If you purchased a base 2018 Model 3 in 2018, it would cost you $46,000 plus taxes. Just searched for a used 2018 Model 3 mid range (base) model, and found several. One, as an example, Standard range 2018 Model 3 with 42,992 miles, is listed for $43,995! This owner bought it for $46k, used it for 3-4 years and put over 40,000 miles on the car, and can now sell it for a loss of only around $2-3,000! Even if he has to drop the cost of the car down to, say, $40,000, he will still only have lost $6,000 over three years! That's a loss average of $2,000 per year! Pretty remarkable, and hardly what (as a new car buyer) i would list as a negative.
Good personal review. One thing to note, Tesla can't charge at public CCS chargers. They are only able to use Chademo chargers with their adapter, and I've heard that those chargers often aren't working. Of course, Tesla can use the L2 chargers in a pinch.
Great review! I have a 2019 Chevy Bolt premier. I love it too. But, the chrome and shiny black on the dash around the center 10.25" screen is horrible!!, right around 12 noon sunshine. The sun in several spots, burns holes in my eyes around that time of day, you have to wear sunglasses to stand it. I cover over the center screen. The glare is above and below the center video screen. I'm thinking of getting it covered in something flat, non shiney. So I can use my center screen for birds eye view again.. during that time of day..........................
I just purchased a 2023 Bolt EUV for $35,780.00 and its fully loaded Premium model. I looked at the Tesla Model 3 (Great car if you can afford it) but it was pricier ($42k range not $37k)
Sounds like price wise, the better car is the bolt. Sure it's basic but it appears well built well appointed and cheaper to maintain. The tesla is a beautiful feat of tech and maybe some clever engineering. But I'm a working guy that wants to have a little lower Carbo footprint. In this comparison the bolt is winner. Great video, thanks!
I picked up a 2019 Bolt LT a couple weeks ago. range is around 250ish. From what I understand when the battery was replaced due to recall, it got upgraded as well. The LGChem battery is 60kW and the new battery (I think GM themselves make this one) is 66kW. My #1 grip[e with the Bolt over the Tesla though is charging speed, even the newest 2023 model is still plagued with that 55kW charge speed, then Tesla can do up to 350kW. Which makes a charge from 10-80% take about an hour or so. (I just grab a quick nap) I supplement with 120v home charging though (12 amp) so Ive only had to charge it at a station once since getting it (had to take it out of town)
The BOLT is an older design and was not meant to be a long distance vehicle. It was designed towards the commuter that just needs a car and could not care less about all the fanfare that Tesla has. The BOLT , just like the M3 is for a specific crowd.
I had no idea about the Tesla ring being used as a key to the car. that's genius. I have a Mustang Mach-e and the phone as a key has been working great. Gotta love tech, so much convenience
I chose the Bolt because of being able to get in and out of it comfortably. Tried the Model 3 and it was not possible to get in or out with ease. The seats were amazing, though. I travel fairly often with it and charging is not an issue (if, as mentioned, you plan ahead).
@@manoharchandra5186 Never had a battery problem and the actual amount of fires vs Bolts on the road is negligible. Oh, and Teslas and ICE cars burn too...
i tried to buy bolt several times from GM site , every time i selected bolt ev with all my options, for some reason the site is asking me to select dealership nearby, i wish GM could just take my credit card info or bank info and ship the damn car to my home address:(
I would love to see an update on the real cost of ownership after the warrenty is up on both cars. This is the real indicator on which car is better ..my speculation would be the bolt wins
I have to disagree, since I’ve always been screwed with dealerships, especially adding the charge of buying an extended warranty. When trying to have a car repaired with the extended warranty from two ICE cars I’ve owned (different manufacturers), I was always told it was not covered, even though it was a bumper to bumper warranty. I’d tend to give the favor to Tesla.
My wife had to buy 500 dollar TMPS sensors for her tesla since they're bluetooth. Tesla definitely loses overall cost category by a landslide. I honestly don't even know how a 2021 model 3 doesnt even have seat cooling and probably the shittiest view angle for your rear view mirror I've ever seen in a car. To each their own I guess.
@@andrerodriguez7603 They both don't use gas or use oil changes so it entirely depends on the battery. Either way they are both more efficient than using gas for transportation.
Excellent review! We’ve owned a 2019 Bolt Premier since new and love it. I agree with all of your Bolt assessments plus I appreciate the fold down rear seats for moving awkward items, I.e. golf clubs & our folding e-bikes. One thing we don’t like is all of the hard plastic Bolt surfaces. Styling & technology wise the Model 3 is clear winner plus the Tesla charging network is undeniably the best solution. At time of purchase, the Model 3 was not yet available and in hindsight I would have probably chosen it over Bolt, but life is too short for such minor regrets.
Chevy Bolt. Hands down best bang for your buck used EV on the market. Edit: There are incentives for buying used Bolts?! I'm fat and the seats in the Kia Sorento dig into my kidneys something fierce, but weirdly the Bolt's seats don't bother me. Longest drive was only 4 hours though. I like your overview, though I would've added self reparability and right to repair. GM's not a great company, but they're better on both factors than Tesla. I say that having never driven a Tesla :P
Thank you for the review. Good comparison. For the reasons you mentioned, I agree with the choice, BUT....I'm just looking to avoid gas station prices and don't care much for communication with my car. I have a 120 mile daily round trip to my office so either would work.
Basically, before price, the Tesla works better if you travel a lot since charging is faster. The Bolt is more of a commuter car. Now that the Tesla is vastly more expensive than when you released the video, I'm inclined to do the Bolt (EUV), as long as the price isn't that high.
I think I prefer the Bolt. I do not like the interior of the Tesla and I do not like the dash board of the Tesla, and that's where I would be if I owned one... inside. I also hate the front end styling of the Model 3. It looks to be like it ran into a wall. The Bolt is a lot nicer looking to me inside and out
FRONT WHEEL DRIVE !!! Most (like me) love it. Some don't. Most don't care until they are hydroplaning off the highway. At 72, with mobility issues, the Tesla is just too low for my 6'1' 260# body. I like the high seats of the Bolt a lot more. But the Tesla "deal killer" for me was having to look and find a button on the touch screen to open the glove compartment. Tesla is opening up it's chargers for CCS/SAE fast charging ports in the next couple of years. I prefer my Bolt for ease of driving, "feel' and other things. Tesla is too low, too high, and is always being pushed around by it's back wheels.
when you do your 14 mile run, what does the display say for watts/mile (or miles/kwh) on each car? the mpge is supposed to be so much better on the 3 compared to any other ev, so while their range estimations may not be accurate, i wonder how much power each car actually uses on that stretch.
Likely city stop and go driving which more directly hits the strengths of the Bolt. The Tesla efficiency will be seen at higher speeds, highway, interstates etc where the aero advantage comes into play. The Tesla does not recoup as much energy when it regens as the Bolt does.
I love your take. I wonder what your opinion would be now with the current massive price increase of the tesla and the impending price reduction of the bolt. Be well and enjoy your beautiful rides.
Just about to get a Bolt, and Tesla didn't really factor in because Elon Musk has turned into such a chode over the past year or so. But I really expected Tesla to blow the Bolt out of the water, and was just going for the Bolt based on politics and price. But it looks like you really do get some positives out of either model, so thanks for the comparison. Very useful.
Musk is a total loon - a trump level mega narcissist but with a brain. He supports the radical right environmental rapists. So much for the environmental messiah.
I think that Tesla is closer to $47 now. The Bolt wins in my opinion. If they could get the fast charge time down some it would be king of the road in the EV market at this price.
@FCA 11 days ago, I bought a 2018 Model 3 for 40k. Even used, it's better than the Bolt, although the EUV looks like a great deal if it got a better charging time.
I also have both, Model 3 for almost 3 yrs, just got a Bolt. Tesla does seriously seem to exaggerate their range. My 3 (SR) usually got about 160-180 mile range. My Bolt seems to blow this away. About to get a new battery under recall which will increase that distance even more. I also found the Model 3 very annoying to get in and out daily. I'm about 5'9 (maybe a little taller with shoes) and this car made me feel like I was a giant. Always hitting my head and knees. Overall I'd say there are too many trade offs and differences to objectively say one is better. I'd say Tesla wins in luxury, the Bolt in utility. Its also worth nothing that a Model 3 is around $10k more than a Bolt now. On the used side, I sold mine for $7k more than I paid new lol and bought a lower mileage Bolt for $18k
Thanks for the review, Bolt is indeed attractive but nowadays all dealers charge so called market adjustment fees from 2K to 8K(Because of less availability) which brings the car price very close to Tesla 3, about 3-4K difference only, since Tesla has also reduced the price on all models. Because of this and all the benefits you have mentioned, specifically charging network and rare wheel drive experience. It seems Tesla hold better value. Also I have hard from one dealer that GM is planning to discontinue Bolt over Equinox and as soon as that happen. All the Bolts will drop in value significantly. So it will be double loss for buyers because first they pay significantly extra to dealers in the name of market adjustment( which is complete B.S.) and then as soon as production stops it will reduce in value.
Big caveat the fancy features on bolt are on premier, 2LT, or option, if you can live without them you can get 1LT, same drivetrain same performance, same range, and save a ton of money, no such thing as a stripped model 3. Resale value easily goes to Tesla, but even if you get a higher percent, you might still lose $ more long-term.
Great comparison video. I wish you would have spent more time on the fact that Tesla doesn't follow "Right To Repair". Meaning an owner of a Tesla can only have their vehicle repaired at Tesla. Your local repair shop cannot buy parts or diagnostic equipment to repair your Tesla.
Cost is my most important item when getting an EV. - As Saboth said in the previous comment, this is a no brainer. I don't have an EV yet, so just watching and learning from You Tube videos. I do like the interior looks of the Bolt compared to the Tesla . The Bolt looks more like a car than the big Tesla having just a display screen and nothing else. Tesla looks more like a large computer on wheels with nothing more than a display screen in the center. Not very cosmetic of a car for the price you pay for it. Thanks and take care.
Hey do you notice the driver wiper on on periodic wiping doesn't got to the complete bottom unless you turn the wiper off, or just use it manually? Thanks for help I have 2021 bolt
I was on fence between tesla Y and a 2020 bolt, this video helped a lot. i assume you live just north of me in the valley based on those shots ;-) those look like the calabassas hills
Can you run that downhill driving test based on battery percent instead of miles? Our Bolt will adjust the predicted miles left based on the most recent driving, so going downhill will increase the estimated range, even if the battery charge is decreasing.
I rented a Tesla and hated it. I had to wrestle it to make a lane change, and it kept accelerating more than I wanted to. I have driven many EVs and find that the one made by car companies, (i.e Chevy, Audi, Ford, Volvo) act the most like cars, and not computers on wheels.
Good job in the info presented. Even though they are different class vehicles (sub-Compact and Mid-Size), I understand based on specs that they are also somewhat similar. For overall value, the Bolt is a great choice in this range offering. Couple that with a versatile interior, higher seating position and really really good EV efficiency, good used and even the new 2022 redesign offer a lot for BEV-shopping consumers. Throw some more money around and the Model 3 will be the choice for those who want a bigger vehicle, the technology, more performance/handling, access to Tesla's SuperCharger Network and of course - the ownership of a "unique" brand. Both are excellent choices for the continually growing EV marketplace and I too would encourage those thinking of an all-electric, to look at these and even other great choice options!
Not sure this is a fair comparison now that the bolt is roughly $20,000 less than the Tesla model 3 now. Comparing an entry level sedan with a luxury vehicle shouldn't even be close, but it is. You could almost buy two bolts for the price of 1 model 3.
Man, THIS is the best, most fair, open minded video I've seen on Bolt vs Model 3. Can you please take on other topics where people fight like mad over which is best? Like religion, was the election stolen etc??! You are the only open minded logical fair person I've seen in a decade.
Thank you for the video, information and the effort you put into the video. How old is too old when looking into a Bolt? In your opinion. Keeping budget in mind.
Another area where the Bolt wins: If you ever have issues with your Bolt EV/EUV, and need to take it in for service, there is almost always a Chevy dealer nearby. I have no idea where I'd go to get repairs done on a Tesla.
I am still torn, even though you made a great video here. I love sentry mode, Tesla charging network, and the speed. But following the right to repair movement makes me hate tesla. The bolt was not comfortable to me....But roomy and familiar feeling like you pointed out.
@@KobraToldYa I don't want to end up like I did with my harley.... I bought it because everyone else thought it was cool. It is... but I bought other bikes for me, and not what other people think.

Can't compare as Tesla is in a class of its own. However, the Bolt is best in class basic consumer priced EV. Period. Bolt is great bang for the buck and gets you into an EV cheap - compared to everything else out there.

We got the 2023 Bolt EV. Extremely pleased with the choice. Sounds like you had a similar experience.

AC works better than heater.
I have a 2019 Bolt LT bought new. On your comparison of a 14 mile trip; you should have monitored the Kwh used not the estimated miles used.
How are you liking your Bolt?
How is the cabin noise ? Which one is quieter ?
A great video. The Bolt was better than I expected but it did feel like a big smart car.
My previous car was a Fiat 500e electric, bolt feels like a huge truck to me.
bolt is literally 1/2 the cost of the model 3 out the door...
Are you aware of the fires and eventual problems you may have selling your bolt?

Very happy with my 2018 Bolt. Very happy with my 2012 Volt.
Chevy has always been the alternative to Tesla... the only real competition up to 2021.
However... if they ever get around to making that Cybertruck I'm getting it.
Is the bolt an all electric car and the volt is electric but when in need the gas powered engine will turn on?
Yes
Both cars about 50 %
Both in sport mode.
Thanks!
For the features, the Bolt is practically a steal. I actually prefer the shift knob frankly. The tactile feel is best for some things
Very true. You make some great points. You’re very right about the ride sharing aspect as wel
I do rideshare with my 2018 Bolt and it's worked out great. Rear seat leg & head room is very good. I used to do it with a 2014 Leaf, now that was a pain because of range.
@@shredmas
The Bolt is definitely at top of my list....
It's a great choice
Thanks for this
My commute is going from 20 mins to 1 minute to work now. I wanted something thats worth the money and finally decided it might be worth it switching to a EV, since I will only be driving two miles to work or school
I am a car enthusiast so fun matters.
A CCS adapter is being sold in South Korea, so if you manage to get your hands on one...
The CCS adapter is now available and the Tesla can charge anywhere now. Sadly Tesla hasn't opened up their network everywhere for CCS cars.
I thought of using car polish to rough it up, your idea is better
I just purchased a 2023 Bolt EUV for $35,780.00 and its fully loaded Premium model. I looked at the Tesla Model 3 (Great car if you can afford it) but it was pricier ($42k range not $37k)
Headed to go look at Kona EV right now
@@KobraToldYa you might want to ask them if the Kona qualifies for the $7,500 tax credit?
It does
I feel you did great job
Sounds like price wise, the better car is the bolt. Sure it's basic but it appears well built well appointed and cheaper to maintain. The tesla is a beautiful feat of tech and maybe some clever engineering. But I'm a working guy that wants to have a little lower Carbo footprint. In this comparison the bolt is winner. Great video, thanks!
Yes! Every switch to electric is good for all of us.
Chevy's self driving works great.
I love my 2018 Bolt.
Big difference when it comes to entering and exiting. Enjoy!
I agree this is huge , one needs to get out of bolt as fast as they can to escape the battery fire😂😂😂
And you dont feel like to be in a cult because you drive a bolt!Thats great!
@@manoharchandra5186 Never had a battery problem and the actual amount of fires vs Bolts on the road is negligible. Oh, and Teslas and ICE cars burn too...

@@andrerodriguez7603 I guess you won't be screwed at the Tesla dealership...BECAUSE THERE ARE NONE!

Fold down seats are a game changer with kids and their gear
Nice video. But this is like comparing a Honda Accord to a BMW 330i. Two different vehicles in two completely different price ranges.
I’m driving a 2016 Nissan Leaf now but I’m thinking about trading it in for a 2022 bolt. Thanks for the video sir.
You’re welcome. Wait for the 2023 for the price cut
Now that the Tesla is vastly more expensive than when you released the video, I'm inclined to do the Bolt (EUV), as long as the price isn't that high.
thank you for your honesty.
helped me choose a car.
This Makes me happy!
Excellent content/comparison. Wish I could give an add'l thumbs up for the movie posters! Harking back to my childhood man :-D
Hahaha! Thanks a lot!
Your review was on point. I own a Tesla model 3, S and X. I also own the Bolt and I love the Bolt.
Wow! Getting the CyberTruck?
Great content, both cars are on my short list of EV’s to buy. Subbed!
Thanks a lot. Tough decision. Both are great!
when you do your 14 mile run, what does the display say for watts/mile (or miles/kwh) on each car? the mpge is supposed to be so much better on the 3 compared to any other ev, so while their range estimations may not be accurate, i wonder how much power each car actually uses on that stretch.
lol. the Tesla's regen sucks, that's why it uses more energy.
Likely city stop and go driving which more directly hits the strengths of the Bolt. The Tesla efficiency will be seen at higher speeds, highway, interstates etc where the aero advantage comes into play. The Tesla does not recoup as much energy when it regens as the Bolt does.
Thank you Cobra!
I love your take. I wonder what your opinion would be now with the current massive price increase of the tesla and the impending price reduction of the bolt. Be well and enjoy your beautiful rides.
Thanks, yes it's hard not to choose the bolt nowadays. I think it's an easy choice today. I am contemplating getting another
Just about to get a Bolt, and Tesla didn't really factor in because Elon Musk has turned into such a chode over the past year or so.
Right now, you have to charge the Bolt for at least 90 minutes for every 3 hours of driving time. That's a deal breaker for me.
Chevy Key FOB make it the one to buy! Chevrolet Bolt!

Can you run that downhill driving test based on battery percent instead of miles? Our Bolt will adjust the predicted miles left based on the most recent driving, so going downhill will increase the estimated range, even if the battery charge is decreasing.
I don't think Bolt shows percentage directly I've read that it displays percentage in 5% increment bars
driving comfort? NVH?
Great video! Content, pacing, editing, delivery - all great!
Your model 3 makes it back ...10 miles/. But going there is down hill, coming back must be uphill. or am I missing something here?
Can you compare blind-spot monitoring?
Not sure this is a fair comparison now that the bolt is roughly $20,000 less than the Tesla model 3 now. Comparing an entry level sedan with a luxury vehicle shouldn't even be close, but it is. You could almost buy two bolts for the price of 1 model 3.
Times and prices have changed
That's more points for the bolt
I'll have two of each. Awesome to the max!

Another area where the Bolt wins: If you ever have issues with your Bolt EV/EUV, and need to take it in for service, there is almost always a Chevy dealer nearby. I have no idea where I'd go to get repairs done on a Tesla.
Blasphemy, but I agree
I am still torn, even though you made a great video here. I love sentry mode, Tesla charging network, and the speed. But following the right to repair movement makes me hate tesla. The bolt was not comfortable to me....But roomy and familiar feeling like you pointed out.

Someone should make a faraday car cover for cars. This way, they don't drive away on it's own.
The Bolt still has the rear view camera. The shift knob is still there up to 2021 models, will be removed for 2022 EV and EUV

Can't compare as Tesla is in a class of its own. However, the Bolt is best in class basic consumer priced EV. Period. Bolt is great bang for the buck and gets you into an EV cheap - compared to everything else out there.
Agreed !
Tesla Model 3s are now $50,000 minimum. So they aren’t in the same price category anymore.
