  • An amazing 120 mm travel 26 inch trail bike for 9-13 year olds available in three builds. Rock Shox Reba with 120 mm of travel and rebound adjustment, 11-42T rear cassette, 152mm custom cranks, tubeless 2.1 or 2.25 inch wide tires, great geometry (66 HA, 74 STA, 420 mm CS) and overall light weight make this an exceptional little machine. A larger reach of 400mm make this a bit bigger fitting and ads to the stability of the bike. Stealth dropper compatible and KS Lev available with builds. Climbing to earn those descents? This bike must be considered...
    Weight: 25-26 lbs | MSRP: $9499+ | Standover: 26.5" | Height Range 4'7-5'2 (140-157 cm)

Good review. I have this bike on my radar. looking for something with a little park stance and keeping the hard tail for our XC riding. But she may out grow it in a year. The colour options on the trail craft our much nicer. I seen a few at Kelso and one in the Don valley. I have to look how her time is being spent and where the most dollar per smile can had. You did open my mind to changing her cassette on her current ride.

My son is 9 and just at the cusp height wise… I was looking at the 24 but damn he’d be too big for it so quick. For the price I think I’d be better off getting the 26

Do you remember how tall your son was when you first got this bike? I'm concerned about my son @ 4'8" and 27" inseam. He fits based on the description, just wondering how tall your son was. TY.

You've sold me on getting Trailcraft bikes for my boys. The 7 year old is 4'3" and I am certain is the right size for the Maxwell 24. But my 10 year old (soon to be 11) is 4'9.5" and I am on the fence of whether to get him the 26 or the 27.5. Trying to think about him also outgrowing it in a few years and then passing on to the younger brother. So hard to predict how quick the kids will grow! What would you choose?

I would go with recommended sizing in Trailcrafts site. I found it to be bang on. I tried to squeeze on my 9 year old on to the 26 a little early on their size chart and they were right, it was too big and took a few months for him to get up to min height recommendation. It’s a way bigger jump from 24 to 26 for the Maxwells compared to 26 to 27.5 which sizes actually overlap recommended rider heights.

@@TheBikeDads Thanks! 24 and 26 on order. We probably won't get delivery until mid Fall but it means we will have bikes that are safer to use in north shore wet season. I told Trailcraft the Bike Dads are what sold me on these bikes ;)

Can you clarify if it's actually 68 HTA? you write the specs in description listing it 66 and TC site also says 66. Did they change it throughout the years? Also, do you have any insight on the YT primus?

@@wtfdoicare bigger fitting 26, this bike is suitable for older/stronger kids in the fit spectrum. Great frame with 140 mm travel and great angles (65.5/66 HA, 76.5/77 STA, 415 mm CS) the bike has a reach of 397 mm. Great build with 140mm Manitout fork, SunRingle Duroc 30 wheelset, SX Eagle drivetrain (unfortunate as the 24 inch comes with better/lighter NX), Sram guide brakes and a dropper post.
