After 22 months, I got my nail shanks a few days ago. I cannot describe how satisfied and enthusiastic I am. When I see and wear the boots I have to think about how much love Gabbard made them for this craft.
This touched me a lot as my beloved grandpa was a shoemaker / cobbler , I still smell his workshop while looking to this documentary.
Beautiful work. Just an engrossing story and intimate portraiture of his work.
Thanks Joe. Appreciate that a lot ✌🏻
There is something mesmerizing at watching and hearing an expert walking us through their craft. I love how you let them transmit their message through your videos and photography. Brilliant. 👏👏
I was mesmerized while he was talking and showing me the process. Really amazing stuff to see it firsthand. Thanks for watching!
I’ve had two beers, but I’m pretty sure that this is the coolest man that I’ve ever seen.
Great work Bryan. It made me remind my grandfather, he was a Shoemaker too.
Thanks for watching. Glad you could connect with it! I have a newfound respect for people who make shoes and boots.
I love everything about this. The story, its telling, the music, the images. Beautiful.
Very well done. He is such a cool cat and great subject for your art. I have a pair of nail shanks on order. Connected with him as I grew up going to the sticks of Missouri fishing and my wife has family there… we had a great conversation brought back so many memories. To have him craft a pair of boots is just an honor.
I hope you going to live forever because we need an amazing craftsmen 👍👍😊
Great series, and such engaging stories, excellent work.
I love this type of story telling! Keep it up, awesome work! You are a inspiration.
Beautiful tone and pace. Combines two of my loves. Photography and hand made shoes! Such a good series.
Definitely a new appreciate for boot making. Glad you enjoyed it!

Such a good story. The music that was used fits this so well. Great video overall and the portraits were icing on the cake. Had to watch this a couple of times.
Thanks man. I appreciate the support!
Stunning film. I love the way you used cool tones with focused spots of warmth. These slow traditional art and craft forms have my heart.
Glad you enjoyed it! I am drawn to cooler looking images. No clue why. Just something like looks good to my eye. Thanks for watching 🤘🏻

Such a good documentary Bryan! Loved every second of this video!
100% agree with him about the want to invest more money in something more personalized and that has more care and thoughts put into.
Keep this serie alive, man you are becoming better and better at this!
Thanks for always watching my man. “Buy it right the first time and only cry once”
This is inspiring. Your storytelling with film is wonderful and your photos are so very good. Thanks so much Bryan
Thank YOU for watching ✌🏻
Another excellent video Bryan, I actually knew about Mr. Gabbard from his first boot venture, it's so surreal to see him out on youtube like this.
That’s crazy. Glad you enjoyed this one.

Love JD's story and the way you have presented it mate 👌🏾
Thank you! Appreciate that 🖤
BEAUTIFUL, beautiful work, love this series.
Thank you very much!
Hello Brian, I'm impressed about the way, you introduce yourself in the little clip. You come on very sympathy 😍 I am a shoemaker since 1995 and live in West Germany. In December I go to Hamburg for a shomaker meeting. I imagine, how nice it could be, to meet a smart, cool man like you there. Best wishes from a shoemakersbride, Laila
Great work, and love these stories.
Thanks David!
Another great episode for your fabulous series. Wow. Again, some of the best artwork viewable on UA-cam. Superb photography. Keep up the good work ! -Jacques (from Montreal)
Thank you Jacques! That means a ton 👍🏻
Amazing work!
Thank you 🤘🏻
Really love your Documentaries.
Thanks dude 🙌🏻
Wow!
Really well done! I was totally engrossed in the story.
Thanks Rene. Glad you enjoyed it!
Another good job. I hope this guy's business does well. He seems to have a lot of integrity
Thanks! I’m sure he’ll do just fine with the amount of passion he has.
Really LOVE these series. I want to try to do this with some crafts persons in HI but a lot of people are shy and shut off here and really just don't want their story to be told.
Thanks Joshua. Just gotta get out there and eventually you’ll get someone. Promise! Put all your effort into the person that wants their story told and then more will come.
Brother, this video was really inspiring. Great work.
Thank you Dave!
@@BryanBirks You bet. Just recently made the decision to make film photography more of a main staple in my creative work & seeing your videos have been getting me right fired up!
Great episode man!
Thank you Josh 🙏🏻
Grrrr. I wanted to be #200 thumbs up. Alas, I was only #199. Missed it by that much.
You didn't miss it. You hit it and killed it. The bootmaker wasn't the only craftsman involved with this video. This was my first Analog Artisans video and it won't be my last.
MY dude, this is beautiful.
Thanks man. Appreciate that!
Very nice video! Keep up the good work
Thanks Geoffrey 🤘🏻
@@BryanBirks my pleasure
I love this series, such beautiful stories and portraits.
Thanks man. Happy to hear!
Beautiful video! Great work. Which film you used?
Thanks! Portra 160 for color. Arista 100 for black and white!
this fuckin rules dude.
Byron, why do I want to buy a hand made pair of boots? Because of a simple story of a complicated artist beautifully executed.
Beautiful video and talk! Where do I can find is work?
Thank you! His company is Kreosote Boots.

Next time I'm in st louis I should lose all my money on some boots, apparently. Very cool!
Haha apparently!
Whats the hat? Can't find a reference even on insta
great as always!
but still missing a cat photo :(
😅😅😅
Man's custom boot waiting list is currently 42 months long..just checked his website
My man is hustlin.
Found them in the flea market for only $20. Super happy.
Congratulations.
What’s unfortunate is that people don’t make enough money to buy quality products
oh man another bootmaker aka master lmao he charges how much on those??? hope you did not pay full price on those crap
I paid double just because I can. UA-cam money pays well. Thanks for the view!
The tone beautifully compliments the subject. Your approach is spot on.
