Ancestory tests really shows how racist americans are to europeans. I have never seen an american be glad to be european. I once saw a video of a bunch of latin-americans that took ancestory tests and one of them said 'oh, I see some names I do not like'. It is probably because americans see us as colonisers, Even though Arabs, Africans, Asians and african arabs from Asia have all comitted colonization. The only ones who have not committed colonization are aboriginals, but slavery was not foreign to some of them either. For example, the Aztecs. Remember that Europeans are not more evil nor have done more evil things than anyone else. People who say otherwise are the true hotdog eating, uncultured, inproperly educated, red, white and blue with stars, obnoxious American patriots.
You know those two concepts are not mutually exclusive right?? Theres lots of gay men that are traditionally masculine most of us are not a gay stereotype 😑😑

I'm an American (or a United Stateser, as all the Hispanics keep telling me I should call myself). My ancestors have all been in America for a very long time--like since before the Revolution. They all arrived here in the 1600's & 1700's. Several branches of my family have been obsessed with genealogy for a century now, so I have a pretty good idea of my genetic makeup without having to take a DNA test. However, since my family has been here so long, the different ethnicities in my makeup are really intertwined. When people ask me what I am, they seem to want some precise breakdown. I had no idea what that would have been because of all the intertwining. Not too long ago, I actually tried to figure it out. I decided not to go back any more than six generations. The reason for this is that you only get a genetic inheritance from 120 ancestors in each generation. Six generations back, you have 64 ancestors, so you're getting something from each of them. Seven generations back, you have 128 ancestors, so there are eight of them you're getting nothing from. If you count all of them, that would give you a one-sixteenth false positive. Eight generations back, you have 256 ancestors. You're only getting a genetic inheritance from less than half of them, so going that far back is useless--assuming you can trace your family that far back anyway, which most people can't. As it turns out, the different ethnic groups in my family didn't really start mixing with each other until right after the Civil War, so I only really needed to go back five generations, not six. I calculated that I am 9/16 German, 5/16 English, 3/32 Scottish, and 1/32 Irish. There may be a drop or two of French, Dutch, or Welsh blood in there, but that was far enough back that there's no guarantee that I got any genetic inheritance from those ancestors at all. Have you ever heard anyone claim such an odd breakdown of fractions before?
You know your ancestry way better than a lot of us who took a DNA test, especially if we are from less surveyed regions like the Balkans. In my case I'm from Romania and all my ancestors are from Romania, although I do not know anything beyond 4 generations and I'm only 29. (even some of my 4th generation ancestors, eg great-grandparents, are missing/unknown, and after 2 world wars and changes of several Romanian and previously Austro-Hungarian administrations, census data is non-existent...) That said, tbe test told me I'm only about 60 to 65 percent Romanian, with about 30% Russian/Ukrainian mixed in, some 4% German and then 2% or less Greek and North Indian, which might both be flukes given how low the percentages are, although they might also not, as it would make sense with the demographic background of Romania. Anyway, my point is that I have no idea who my non-Romanian ancestors were, and knowing your family tree the way you do gives you a much more complete picture than a DNA test ever could... (and your fractional breakdown is very easy to understand if you're half decent with maths 😊)
Honestly from European perspective it makes no sense. Ethnicity is more about culture, language, religion and personal identity rather than genetics. Otherwise there wouldn't be a nationalist politician in my beautiful country of Poland who carries a German sounding surname. Like this guy is a real deal, he's very concerned about how Polish Poland should be. He definitely has German ancestry tho Anyway recently I found out that I might have some Czech ancestry which could help me running away if my country turned too much to the right. I think this is the only good reason for caring about genes - free citizenship!
@MelodyGoad If not for the disastrous Brexit, covid and war in Ukraine I don't know where would we be today. Our politicians definitely want to make Poland the trouble child of Europe. Whether it's because they don't want to accept that gay people exist or because they like playing around with constitution and freedom of press. I can cross the border as long as we're a part of EU but Brexit has proven it's actually easier to quit the Union than enter it. You don't need to reach certain economic and development goals in order to be allowed to leave When they close borders it's usually too late Anyway, aside from my doomerism I am pretty sure we'll get someone less authoritarian in the next elections. I don't think neo-liberals can fix anything but No Change is better than Good Change

If you have your parent's birth data, the site's AI has the potential to help you easily build a family tree, pulling in research that other people have already done. I'm glad I tried both.

@@MW_Asura Yours is a very European attitude. If you ever come to America, don't brandish that attitude in a condescending way--or you'll be likely to get your ass beat. In America, because we're a nation of immigrants, we view ourselves as whatever genetic makeup we have. I know, you'll say, "But you're all just Americans." Sorry, things don't work that way here.

Bro, the Assalamualaikum, Astagfirullah, Alhamdulillah, MashAllah and salaam were perfect❤
I have done three of those tests, 23andme, myancestry and myheritage. And none agree with each other at all. Not just in percentages, they often don't even agree where my ancestors come from.
check this out someone took 10 DNA test and compare them (timestamp on German weight with diff companies) ua-cam.com/video/R4jZvfbEmZo/v-deo.htmlsi=IfW22JY8HXezziiM&t=1208
He definitely has German ancestry tho
Anyway recently I found out that I might have some Czech ancestry which could help me running away if my country turned too much to the right. I think this is the only good reason for caring about genes - free citizenship!
@@angelikaskoroszyn8495 I mean, both countries are part of the European Union, so it doesn't matter anyway, you can just move there no problem lol.
@MelodyGoad
If not for the disastrous Brexit, covid and war in Ukraine I don't know where would we be today. You don't need to reach certain economic and development goals in order to be allowed to leave
When they close borders it's usually too late

И генетическое сходство еще не причина считать, что происхождение от племен других языковых групп отсутствует, ибо к тому времени западные финно-угорские племена генетически не особо отличались от местных индоевропейцев в том числе славян.

Earlier generations often didn't maintain a knowledge of their family history because they were simply trying to survive. Thus, many Americans don't know who their ancestors are or where they came from--or they've got an inaccurate story. It's important to us to find out the truth and to get our stories straightened out.
