I am a backcountry wilderness photographer. I have spent more time alone deep in the mountains than most would ever believe. I have backpacked thousands of miles in the California wilderness/mountains while completely alone. Spent hundreds of nights alone in the mountains. Never had one incident that weirded me out or gave me the creeps, and I've even camped near old remote plane crash sites where people definitely died. I have since moved to the PNW, and after a few years of doing my thing up here, I must say - I have been creeped out *many times* in certain parts of the wilderness/mountains up here. Definitely the distinct and present feeling of being watched/not alone. Chills & that animal instinct that tell you to leave a place. I'm not one to believe in supernatural things, but the feelings I have gotten in some areas of the Washington/Oregon wilderness are unlike anything I've ever experienced. Still don't know what to make of it.
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t have your level of experience but I have enough experience to feel comfortable and prepare well for hiking/camping in the wilderness. I grew up in a fairly rural area of upstate New York and logged more weekends than I can count, through Boy Scouts, camping in the Adirondacks. Since then my fiancé and I have visited a decent amount of National Parks on the east coast (Acadia and Shenandoah most recently). I also lived out in Arizona for a couple years and completed a few weekend treks out in the desert. Last year we spent a week out in WA and visited Mt. Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades. I can’t say anything horrific happened but the feel up there is totally different. I enjoyed the scenery but I had one eye over our shoulders the entire time. The feeling of unease was unlike anywhere else. I’ve also been unsure what to make of it and for awhile I thought maybe it was just that I was unfamiliar with the environment. However, both before and since then I’ve ventured out in places I’d never been before and never felt what I did there. I’d still recommend people visit, especially Rainier and Cascades, but I’d stress caution and preparation. It was also great to hear your story as it’s both comforting and concerning to hear it wasn’t just in my head lol
Paulides himself insists that a person such as yourself, with your particular nomadic habits, absolutely MUST get a personal locator beacon to carry with you while you're alone so far from civilization. He says this is one of the primary tools that would either prevent, deter, or at least illuminate the details around these strange missing persons profiles. He explains that there are locators that don't require any subscriptions, and those are the ones to go for. He's hypothesized that the act itself of preparing against these disappearances occurring in a conscious manner seems to be a possible deterrent against them, as though whatever it may be is more reluctant to leave any trace of it's activity.
I remember September 26th 2019, my husband and I were going on the Appalachian trail in Shenandoah park. Now this trail was open to the public and we definitely aren't the type to go off trail since we knew people get lost for days or go missing, but it seemed as through the trail wasn't used for a while. We hiked for about 1/8 of a mile, and all of a sudden I heard something and felt like someone or something was watching us and waiting. We've notice our dog was getting nervous and suddenly, he wanted to turn around. Our dog never does that! We immediately thought we should too. I swear our dog saved us because we felt there was something waiting for us around the corner. Very chilling 😨 when we turned around, we were watching our backs and were prepared to fight since we felt like we were being followed. I remember this day since the next day my husband proposed to me!! I'm so grateful we made it out a live and we're now married with a bright future ❤️ Moral of the story: Listen to your instinct and furry companion. It might just save your life 😉
My brother and I were backcountry camping in the Shenandoah's in the middle to late '70's. We were way off the beaten track out in the middle of the woods. Early in the morning, there was some large creature breaking huge branches as it approached our camp site. We could tell it was large by the large crack the sounds made. And later, after comparing notes, we determined that it was bipedal. As it approached just outside my tent, we heard some grunting and snorting. My brother (in his tent) had heard the noises and responded to my worried voice ('James, do you hear that?!") and thankfully said "We have guns and we will shoot you!". Just then, whatever it was backed up and slowly walked away. We don't know what it was, but we will never forget it. Earlier as we were setting up camp, I noticed that the woods were dreadfully quiet, not a single sound from locusts, birds, anything. I had this weird feeling too that we were being watched the entire time. I had never conveyed that feeling to my brother at the time, because I thought I was being unnecessarily fearful. As we compared notes later, we thought it was strange that whatever it was decided to back up and leave our encampment, after, hearing my brothers threat to shoot. Either that was a coincidence, or it understood our intent, or even understood some English. We will never know. Our story is on Dixie Cryptid (program entitled Bigfoot Home Invasion Marathon_52 dated 11-21-19) and on The Facts How to Hunt. Its great that you listened to your instincts that day. I still feel lucky that we made it out of there alive.
So so scary....I'll never look at the countryside the same again....I'll always have an over my shoulder feeling if I ever go for walks alone again....which I used to do all the time....

A lot of these people that actually were found were with out clothes, even in snow and harsh weather. I just wanted to note people in the final stages of hypothermia engage in "paradoxical undressing" because, as they lose rationality and their nerves are damaged, they feel incredibly, irrationally hot. They strip off their clothes to cool themselves down as they are freezing to death.
Baby Tara: The Schleyer case doesn't fit that profile. The weather was temperate and he was well prepared. Something took him, and evidently broke open his skull without making a bloody mess. Bears can't do that. No animal can.
I’ve been so captivated by these stories since a young man went missing in the woods outside my town in the summer of 2020. I’ve never heard a case more bizarre and frustrating but his story hasn’t really gotten outside of Oregon. If you wanna get angry about something, look up Michael Bryson. His family is still looking for him and it seriously needs more coverage
The fact that they just sat around instead of taking advantage of the time is disgusting. Police always say the first 24 hours are the most important in a case
counter - skeptic points... - Hypothermia may cause some people to take their shoes and clothes off...BUT IT CANNOT give anyone the ability to traverse extended distances barefoot...period - Criminals are bound by gravity, just like natural predators...which means they will leave molecular evidence of their approach and egress that is differentiatable from the victim, detectable as scent by search dogs. THERE WILL BE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF EARTH CONTACT. ie tracks...upon approach., upon contact between predator and prey, and upon the predators departure, now also bearing the weight of prey.....
I was way out in the middle of the woods in Oregon one day target shooting when a man ran in front of me as I'm actively shooting yelling at me that he owned the land i was shooting on. He was dirty with long hair and looked pretty rough. I was so shocked to see anyone i just told him i would leave even though i was certain i was on national forest land. I drove all around there to see if there was anything else out there like a house. All i could find was more woods. I learned that day you are not always as alone in an isolated place as you may think.
I've just gotten into the 411 Missing Phenomenon and I find it fascinating. A lot of people disappear and a sizable minority cannot be explained. Those individuals simply disappear without a trace. Making it even stranger, many of those who disappear are experienced individuals who are physically fit. Just very, very strange.
Have you heard of the “Little DeOrr” case? 2 year old little boy literally vanished, never to be seen again, not a single trace was ever found, and the circumstances regarding the initial vanishing are completely separated from anything logical that we as humans know of. As I studied the case, it’s as if the little guy stepped into a portal, that’s literally the logic I was forced to consider.
The feelings i get in the Washington and Oregon forrests is something else… Anyone who lives in the PNW knows that weird energy in the Forrests like somebody or something is watching you always.
I didn't know there are tons of unresolved missing cases in US national park. It makes my favourite movie, The Descent, seems real rather than just a made-up movie.
It’s not just America. I’m from Britain 🇬🇧 and we have just as a bad an issue. Manchester has a HORRIFIC pattern of young people disappearing and ending up dead in the canals. IT’S SO BAD OUR SECURITY ARE TRYING TO CHANGE HOW THEY DEAL WITH PEOPLE!

Hi. Your so right. The animals are stressed out by climate change and the narrowing and invasion of their environment by humans. So happy to have found you!! I hope you do more of the Missing411, and if I may offer a suggestion? There are a LOT of people missing in national parks, but anyone who talks about talk about the same ones over and over and over ad nauseam!! Please pick cases that have NOT already been profiled. Keep up the great work!!
Damn dude I've been searching a while for a short but effective "intro" video into the Missing 411 phenomena for people who've never heard of it, to try to get them into it and become aware. I think I found it here. Not too long and has all of the fundamentals and parts needed to put that hook into someone's brain and encourage them to take the dive into this particular rabbit hole. And it beats trying to explain this whole phenomena in words to newbs time and time again. Good work! Keep it rolling.
How do you not see this is bullshit. “People that went missing are on either side of the intellectual extreme…” I would bet anything that is a damn lie and could not be substantiated.
With the success of the "Missing 411" (copyrighted, all rights reserved) books, shows, documentaries, you'd think Paulides could afford that list by now.
Its crazy how media doesnt talk about this or human trafficing even tho these are very serious issues going in right now in the present . but for some reason we talk about the past misdeeds.
@@alexjameskeeferyeah when they downplay the severity and scale of the issue. Wouldn't surprise me at all to learn the same groups were behind both the media and trafficking, and things like a specific island.
We r wired to absolutely know when we r being watched or observed so if u think u r, u r. Also we r wired so that our brains and bodies know when there is danger present or danger coming before we actually consciously know about the danger or see it. TRUST UR INSTINCTS!!!
I don't agree... We're not just wired to be fuckin Spiderman or something if we were nothing bad would happen. You make it sound like you are wired to tell the future. This people were following there gut they were experienced woodsman (most if not all)
@@maxwineberg3956 I know exactly what this person is referring to. I know when something is off, about to happen or someone is watching. You just feel it. So like, if I feel danger present or like someone is watching, but I don't see anything- I'm OUT of there lol. And what I would say for most of these people is that instead of following their training, they start to panic or they think they know more about the outdoors than they do, and sometimes things just happen no matter how many precautions are taken.
Went solo camping one night…woke up with a feeling of sheer terror feeling like something was watching me in the darkness…saw a bear a mile away when driving out the next day. Coincidence?
I think a lot of weird cases could just be chalked up to people getting lost, starting to get dehydrated and delirious, and then weird things happen. Dehydration and exhaustion can make people do things that are pretty insane.
It takes a long time to get dehydrated to that point. Panic is more likely in a lot of cases but I think something with intelligence is using the trees to hunt some of them.
Could be, but dogs should be able to find a scent. Dave never says it's one or another. People claim he says it's a paranormal but he leaves it up to you. Some people have spent their whole lives in the area yet are never found, even with a gun. You would think they would fire shots in the air.
Not true. I have been so dehydrated I was in full blown kidney failure (3 days with no water and vomiting and crapping my brains out) and I didn’t hallucinate or get delusional. I have also stayed up 10 days before to see how long I could go (with drugs). I kept my wits about me, the only thing that what happened is my body would jerk and move and I couldn’t stay still.
You realize Pandox didn't do any of their own research for this video? Everything is ripped off from Dave Paulides' books, video's, channel. Sure he gives Dave credit but if he's such a fan of Dave's then just put up a 2 minute video with a link directly to Dave's youtube channel? That way you can all actually watch the man himself and not some ripoff artist.
Always carry Compass and terrain map of where you are (and know your 8 or 10 digit grid!), Flint and fire sticks, Multitool, Knife, Flashlight with extra extra extra batteries, your woobie (obviously), and an entire roll of paracord and even a small handheld roll of wiretie. I personally have a Garmin Instinct with Satellite capabilities and can locate my exact 10 digit grid location making it easier to navigate back to a known location on a map easier. Also don't go alone!
I live on the Arkansas Oklahoma border where a lot of disappearances have occurred "see missing 411 map" and the woods here have a beautiful and terrifying quality about them. I don't adventure as much as I use to and I always take a dog, pistol , and cell phone.
I think the official explanation is that the missing person cases are relegated to local jurisdictions, so there is no central repository. Look for a another national park disappearance video in the next 3-4 weeks!
David Paulides has run into tons of issues trying to get his hands on this info and it's very troubling to me that they will find any excuse to not oblige.
If you want a nice vacation at Mt. Rainer there is a nice lodge with Alpine meadow and lake nearby! You can also stay at the Paradise Lodge and rent bikes, and go on a nice picnic in the sunshine, and ride around the area on bike and walking trails! If your young or feeling up to it, you can hike a very steep hill trail, that takes you up past the timber line to view bald eagles, and a panoramic view of all the Mt. tops all around! Good for a sunny day, in the summer if you are young and healthy! Not for small kids, pets, sick folks, seniors or weak legs etc! Its a hard and very, very steep trail for summer only! And I remember having to pull myself up by the roots of the trees sticking out along side the trail! I also got very light headed as the elevation is so high up there, not a lot of oxygen! Makes you very light headed and dizzy! Had to lay down and rest, but it was a beautiful view and sunny summer day, and we got to see several bald eagles up close and the panoramic view of all the Mountains all around! So pretty up there! There is no way, I could pull myself up that trail today! I could not do that hike today! No Way! Its only for the younger sporty set only!!! But well worth the view!
Well in Yellowstone I got caught on a bridge in a random bison stampede, came across a black bear on a hike, and saw a grizzly and an entire pack of wolves in the same day…lots of dangerous stuff can happen to you there.
Things to know when traveling through the woods 1. Never travel alone- always take three or more people with you 2. Never wear red- most people that go missing in national Forest were wearing red (ever heard of little red Riding Hood) 3. Share your tent or keep all of your tents very close 4. Never go anywhere alone, always take someone with you and never split up even when relieving yourself. 5. If traveling with children never let them walk behind you, keep them in front of you at all times. 6. Keep your weapon close. Gun, knife, taser, pepperspray, etc. Whatever your weapon is make sure you can access it quickly and always be mindful of it. Never forget your weapon. 7. Stay away from random stairs, chairs, arches, house or out of place things and structures- Ignore them quickly get away from them. 8. Ignore the sounds of a crying baby, ignore the sounds of a crying baby. 9. Be wary and cautious of strangers. 10. Know some spiritual and religious knowledge, prayers, verses of power from the Quran or Bible. 11. Be vigilant and always stay calm.
@Jimmy John there is a Muslim saying that you should tie your camel down first and then have faith in Allah that it won't get stolen. Not leave the camel solely on faith, besides faith without works is dead.
Also number 7 haha! I’ve heard finding stairs in the woods is dangerous (not because of if they’re unsafe to use) but dangerous on different level. But I’ve never gotten a deeper explanation.
This channel is gonna be huge in no time. Elite content, excellent narration and beautiful footage. I've been looking for something like this throughout the whole pandemic, time to binge watch!
Seeing the comments debating supernatural stuff and serial killers made me think of a scenario for a story: A serial killer tracking people in a national forest soon finds themself being tracked by something supernatural
What I find to be very peculiar is that the National Park Service and the department of the interior does not have a centralized data base for these 411 cases. Now I've never been one for conspiracy theories, but if you consider that in this day and age the government and law enforcement agencies have data bases for just about everything, but not one for missing persons in National Parks. It almost seems like the Park Service and the Interior are trying keep these cases on the down low. So question is why? And are they trying to hide something?
You have no idea who run this world read the Bible Freemasons run this planet evil people children of Lucifer they are murders liars child predators kidnappers for child experiments and child sex slaves or child organs child trafficking is real also for adults
If the National Park Service goes through the trouble of developing a database of every missing person in their parks, then it would almost be an acknowledgment that something bad is going on in these park an and they are aware of it. They hey can’t do that because it’s like an admission that they can’t figure it out either which would indicate some type of serious problem in their parks…..and it’s their duty to warn people. Also, it leaves the park service open to litigation if they admit there’s a problem that’s out of their control. They just blame it on the usual reasons; the person got lost and froze to death or they fell into a deep crevasse or they fell off a cliff, etc….. I know that there are people who go hiking who should not be hiking, especially alone with no firearm or anything to protect them. Stay on the marked trail folks and stay off the granite boulders. That’s a great way to get struck by lightening walking in that granite, especially at Yosemite.
I'm in Eastern Washington and was prepared to go on a hike and I couldn't shake this feeling that something was watching me! I turned around and went to the lake and something threw stones into the water!. I left and went straight home! Respect the Forest!!
I don’t understand how you could live in Washington( The State With The Highest Amount Of Sasquatch Reports) and not know that that’s the works of a Sasquatch, you gotta be trolling.
My dad’s been going to Sequoia,Yosemite, and Yellowstone almost yearly since the early 80’s. Every road trip he would bring a loaded firearm into the parks, and when I would ask why because this is a VERY illegal thing to do. He would always say “you can’t be too careful or too paranoid in national parks.” I haven’t spoken to him in years but I wonder what he saw or knew. Because he’s so cocky and unafraid of everything, except national parks.
Always carry a firearm with you in these parks and pepper spray and the guy that left the comment go see your dad hes right you know my dad died six years ago and we wasnt speaking at the time and the 11th was his birthday lifes to short darling go see your dad .
My uncle was found dead face down in a plank position with his hands to his side his feet were sticking out of his truck and he was in the woods on a hunting trip. He died of suffocation with no noticeable foul play. Nobody in my family understands what happened.

I have been following Missing 411 for a number of years now I know a lot of cases but when you put the criteria on the screen of the types of people that go missing you're staring right at testing criteria you want to test something you get your best and the worst cases now it makes you wonder who's doing the testing. There's a lot we don't understand. This was a very good video on the subject thank you
Finding out all the disappearances in WA state, I have stopped going hiking, and have cautioned my family to do so as well!! Mt. Rainier has a huge cluster, and people are unaware of any if all of the disappearances they're hiking in! And that's BS! What's ridiculous is that when some families have offered to pay the expensives for searching.. they've still been told no. I'm sure there's several people who would volunteer their time to put together data bases for each park, and then they could all be added to one page and be updated by individual parks.
We should GoFundMe and either build the database ourselves OR if we made enough money we could petition the gov for tax $ for NPS to build the list, but I know I'd feel a lot better about it if the citizens had control of the list since the NPS has proven themselves untrustworthy at best.
My ex boyfriend hit the summit on Mt. Rainer, and one of my girl friends also trained for 6 months and also hit the summit on Mt. Rainer! But be warned its not an easy hike, nor for beginners at all! The terrain is rocky, and many people fall and break their legs! I am a local WA hiker and camper, and the window for Mt. Rainer is JUL-AUG-SEP window in the SUMMER! The weather can change on you in a snap! And go from sunny to a full on storm easy! The terrain is thick, bushy and rocky, so its easy to slip and fall or twist your ankle or break your leg in a fall! Then your stuck! And search and rescue has to save your butt in a helicopter! So if you are planning to conquer Mt. Rainer and hit the summit? Prepare in advance, bring your gear with you, including first aid kit, layer your clothing, bring a tent, sleeping bag, knife, ropes, wear hiking boots and layer your clothing, don't go alone! Bring along several friends, and stay in the window of access to the summit! Otherwise you will be dealing with a lot of rain, snow and dangerous conditions, and may fall and break your legs or not come back! So always check in at the Rangers Station first, and get a map of the area you will be going to! And pack your gear! The ones who don't come back, get lost or injured don't bring anything with them, don't know where they are going, or the area, or the weather...no planning! Not even hiking boots or a pack, tent, or sleeping bag, or sweater?!! And worse they go it alone? Now that is crazy! Its like someone just wandering off in tennis shoes and windbreaker alone, to have a picnic on K2? WHAT? NO! Plan ahead, bring the proper gear with you, don't go alone, check in at the Rangers Station EVERY TIME! AND CHECK OUT WHEN YOU GET BACK! BE SMART AND WISE, IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE AND YOUR LEGS YO! WA NATIVE BORN CAMPER AND HIKER! D : )
I have been in a familiar forest (San Bernardino CA) or familiar desert (Joshua Tree, Mojave), on well worn and marked paths when everything about the landscape seemed to turn unfamiliar. It is a disturbing trick of the mind that in some people may lead to panic.

The problem with David Paulides is the fact he sells the paranormal theories and omits key details of actual cases to make the stories more mysterious. For instance the Thomas Messick case. I am from New York and after researching this case I found witnesses in the hunting party that stated to reporters that Thomas did not stay on watch and walked east. Additionally, members of the search party stated sections of the woods were not thoroughly searched as David suggested. He either didn't do enough research or clearly omitted information on purpose. I have no law enforcement background and I had no problem finding out more information than he did. People get lost in the woods, it is not UFOs, bigfoot, portholes to other dimensions, or insert your other favorite paranormal phenomenon.
Yes. The man's conduct has been suspect at best, demonstrably dishonest at worst, and he's clearly acting from a profit motive by trying to build a brand in "411." We have a real need for good, reality-based coverage of wilderness disappearances that isn't tied to Paulides. His crackpot streak and financial interest in the topic are major liabilities.
So they didn't bother to search for him? LOL That sounds like maybe someone wasn't happy they never found him. Even if he walked East where is he. You didn't present any actual evidence.
@@georgelahmon4539 You can use Google and look up the news articles and people that were actually there in the hunting party confirming this. All of the news articles are still online. It wasn't the paranormal nor was he taken. He is lost in the woods.

I’m from the uk and have always dreamed of travelling to the US and visiting the national parks. They are so beautiful and nothing like we have here. I’m hesitant now.
Stay on main path and with a group a lot you can see by car you will be fine. Dolt let your kids wonder or play games in forests. I go out in one every day.
My husband and I have been to 40 US NPs. They are amazing. Dont go alone, keep your wits about you, if something ferls strange leave, and stay on trails. You'll love them.
Don't be scared. Americans are fearless. Just travel with other people. I've went camping as a kid with my family many times. Stay in a group and stay near camping grounds. You will be fine.
It's like there's some sort of glitch going on in the fabric of our own reality that's so complicated we will never understand it. Maybe there is some set of bizarre circumstances needed for this to happen hence the similarities in the disappearances.
Remember when your grandparents would say your mind plays tricks on you? Thats cognitive distortion. When you're alone in the woods or in a dark area, your brain can sometimes make you believe there is a danger when there isn't because it can't get a full picture of whats around you. I became really uneasy in Boy Scouts while camping a few times believing something was out there, despite the fact there were 40+ other people in the woods around me and I was definitely safe (since I'm typing this now obviously I was) . I'm not saying dont trust your sixth sense, but know sometimes it triggers automatically to keep you on your toes in an unfamiliar setting.
case #1 (McGrogin). He got lost. -lost sense of direction. He was able to go that far (the wrong way) because he was an athlete. He took off clothes because hypothermia victims feel hot. Clothing removal is a known behavior. Also, hypothermia affects the brain, and people do "crazy" things. He fell off the cliff, breaking his hip and skull which killed him. But he was near death before that. He was found miles away, so that is a huge, snow-covered area to search. It's not surprising that he wasn't found alive, and that it took that amount of time to find the body. This is tragic. It's not mysterious, and there is no need to speculate about foul play, aliens, or supernatural. He got lost. Occam's razor.
I like your synopsis and comparing 2015 vs 2021 Missing 411. Nice to see that you've also slowed your vocal delivery. Much more digestable content now. Good stuff, thanks
Easily number 3 is the most eerie and strange. Someone who was well prepared with bear spray and a revolver and who knew the path he was on well enough to know where reception would be not only somehow goes off the path but also fires 4 shots at... something. That's eerie. They say they saw no bear tracks but I wouldn't rule out animal attack entirely. Maybe a cougar or something like that scared him. But what's more creepy is the idea that he ran into another person. Wonderful video btw

I grew up in Alaska Happens often. Paulides brought it to light I’m 67. Don’t hunt anymore but have always carry a 44 Mag for fishing. Never had to fire a shot
It’s not a paradox to love animals and also hunt them. Hunting is a natural human activity. We are just starting out on our own homestead and I will tell you we are animal lovers to the highest degree, yet we are raising our own animals for meat. Where does everyone think the meat in the grocery store or at chipotle come from?? And you don’t even want me to get into what factory farming is like, but let’s just say it’s horrific compared to slaughtering your home raised livestock to nourish your family and local community.
Just so you know, most advocates for conservation are hunters. They need the environment to remain clean more than most people do to make their living.
@@LuvFearlessly without hunters the deer population would explode exponentially and would bring massive amounts of disease to the population. Same goes for hogs.

Wendigos is what I think. I know to most that sounds childish and stupid but just because we haven't seen a creature like this doesn't mean they don't exist and something beyond our understanding is happening in the state parks and forests of the US. Something terrifying and nebulous.

A couple of issues you brought up that I’ve researched and found alternate results. Dogs can smell people even after precipitation and sometimes it can last for a long while. I agree that some of the points can probably be explained in certain circumstances, yet when you compare his case studies and these particular points of interest to how normal search and rescue missions work and end up you begin to recognize how bizarre these missing 411 cases stand out. I believe it’s somewhere around 95% of missing people are found within 48 hours or up to a week if they’re found dead. Edit: it’s not really a paradox for a hunter to be a conservationist. Many of the most active conservationists are hunters. They may eat meat, but they also understand what’s needed to ensure a healthy environment. You do a great job.
Keep in mind David's list is probably bigger than what he's actually publushed. He's most likely publishing the cases he thinks will get the biggest reaction from the public. I'm not saying he's doing it for attention, just that if the main goal is to raise awareness of the problem, then it makes sense to compile the most intriguing and compelling cases in your list.
It's actually not paradoxical for wildlife conservationists to be hunters. Most hunters have extreme respect for the outdoors, despite the common media misportrayal
As much as I want to condemn those who go into the wilderness alone I cannot differentiate myself from them. I've ventured into the deep wilderness alone countless times and came home safely.
I love few things more in life than wandering out in the middle of nowhere alone for an entire day or more. It's the only thing that keeps me sane sometimes.
Had a strange thing happen to me once, There is a National Forest about 35 miles from me in Florida, During the cool months like to go walking in it, Has a lot of abandoned farms in it from the 1910's when the park was created. I always have my cell phone on full charge and have a battery back up,,, I like recording things, I started walking up a path that I walked a lot of times, I stay on the path never get off it, I walked around a curve in the path and saw a Lake, A lake that I never saw before a nice Lake Then I heard some voices of kids playing.. I look up the the path along the lake a family with a Van was parked there having a cook out kids playing, thought it was strange because there was no roads for miles away.. Then when I look again across the lake there was a huge mountain on the other side of the lake, In Florida do not have Mountains, I went to take my phone out to take a photo, The battery was dead so I went to get the Battery Charger out hooked it up and it was dead... I started to feel weird about it I started to go back the way I came I then started seeing areas of the path that I remember and then eventually got back to the parking lot,, I saw a park ranger so told him what happen,,, He said that I was lucky to get back officially no one has turn up missing, unofficially I would not want my family to walk that path,, Others are OK but there is something about that path that is just not right
There's still no central database for NPS disappearances. However, there is an unofficial database for disappearances called The Charley Project: charleyproject.org/
This has been happening since Denis Martin and still there isn’t any improvement in how to prevent this.I believe this needs more media attention so people can be aware of what’s going on in their National parks. NP’s are beautiful and they’re everyone’s playground. The people have a right to know.
Thanks! I upload the script as the subtitles, but I end up cutting scenes or content for clarity, flow, or stylistic reasons. That's why the closed captions sometimes deviate.
@@algorithmicsurfer7226 you call getting lost at night and ending up at an impossible location months or weeks later beautiful ? You gotta wake up man . That place easily made to use for secret government stuff
I think the most frightening part was how it was discovered that The National Park Service would routinely under report disappearances to keep park attendance up. That's a MAJOR failure to protect the lives of their patrons and seems counterintuitive in the end at best.
I love walks in the winter, there was a shelter in a very large local park. I used to walk down the closed park road in the winter and walk to this shelter near the banks of a large known river and a pond very close by. I was sitting on a picnic during a heavy snow watching the snow fall when the hair on the back of my neck and arms started to stand up, I got this feeling that I was being watched. There was 4 inches of new snow on the ground and no tracts around me. In the distance I could see something moving toward me. The snow was falling and I could see an egg shaped spot about 8 ft tall by 4 or 5 ft wide moving toward me. The egg shape object shimmered silver but clear you could see through it , however as it got closer I could see that as you looked through it it wasn't snowing in or on the other side of the object. I jumped off the table and ran as fast as I could away up a trail and to an access road keep running through the snow until I reached a main road . Today I will not go near that park at all. This is not a story that happened to me ! No joke I still have dreams about it.
My guess is that James fell off a ledge, causing head trauma and the broken femur. Maybe he went into shock, hypothermia, or both, explaining why he might not have been in a sound state of mind to call for help
No one mentioned the strange fog appearing out of nowhere, it has a silver like shimmer to it. It starts at the tree tops following you, like it's watching you. Before you know it it changes into like looking though a misty rain. You can see through it but the background looks like you're looking through a dirty window. How do I know this , I ran into this during a hike in the Adirondack mountains near whiteface. I dropped everything and ran like hell. One thing as it approached my hair on my arms and neck stood up like I was near a static charge. Like the feeling you get when you take clothes from a dryer just after it stops. You get a feeling of uneasiness as well.
The bart schleyer story is so mysterious. No answer makes near enough sense. I mean if i had to guess id have to say another human murdered him...but who? How? Why? Idk. Due to how wild and perplexing this case is my 2nd guess for the cause of barts death would honestly be...Bigfoot, cryptid, or some other paranormal phenomenon. And 78% of me doesnt even think bigfoot exists!
You contend that “paradoxical undressing is a common phenomenon,” I wonder, on what evidence do you base that claim? I have seen no evidence that “paradoxical undressing is common”- look at all the frozen hikers on the side of Mt. Everest. Their last acts before freezing were to bundle up in their big coats as best they could, none of them started stripping down, despite being so cold they actually end up passed away because of it.
In the Mike Peterson case..did they find his gun? I don't remember if you mentioned that. But if they did, was it tested to see if it was recently shot? Because how would he have got out 4 rounds while potentially drowning? Or left it somewhere else with other belongings when he took it for his own safety..
This is a good question. The gun was found in Mike Peterson's backpack. I struggled to find if they did a GSW test on his hands or tested to see if the gun was fired; that was a question I had too. His case was under-publicized with only a few articles describing the events.

You need a dog with you. A big dog.
Spirits & elementals like bigfoot😏

I'm so grateful we made it out a live and we're now married with a bright future ❤️
Moral of the story: Listen to your instinct and furry companion.

The fact that they just sat around instead of taking advantage of the time is disgusting. Police always say the first 24 hours are the most important in a case
counter - skeptic points...
- Hypothermia may cause some people to take their shoes and clothes off...BUT IT CANNOT give anyone the ability to traverse extended distances barefoot...period
- Criminals are bound by gravity, just like natural predators...which means they will leave molecular evidence of their approach and egress that is differentiatable from the victim, detectable as scent by search dogs.

Seeing the comments debating supernatural stuff and serial killers made me think of a scenario for a story: A serial killer tracking people in a national forest soon finds themself being tracked by something supernatural
I like the premise. You should put something together!
That would be a great tv show
Could be what's really happening!!!
Truth is often stranger than fiction!!!!
And the serial killer becomes the protagonist
@@seansnowden6857 mini series sure but seems to be a better movie premise
What I find to be very peculiar is that the National Park Service and the department of the interior does not have a centralized data base for these 411 cases. Now I've never been one for conspiracy theories, but if you consider that in this day and age the government and law enforcement agencies have data bases for just about everything, but not one for missing persons in National Parks. It almost seems like the Park Service and the Interior are trying keep these cases on the down low. So question is why? And are they trying to hide something?
They are afraid it will hurt tourism. "Follow the money." 🤑
Human trafficking
Dwight Eisenhower made a deal with who ever it is that they could only hunt and do test on humans in our national parks .
I'm in Eastern Washington and was prepared to go on a hike and I couldn't shake this feeling that something was watching me!

@@LadyLakeland People have to take back their power and stop relying on papa Gov to look after them so completely.

I’ll protect you 🦾
Stay on main path and with a group a lot you can see by car you will be fine. Dolt let your kids wonder or play games in forests. I go out in one every day.
Don’t come to USA. It’s a hellhole
Native Americans, tell of forest spirits, and the Skinwalkers.
Yes, Skinwalkers are very interesting. George Knapp has an excellent book on the topic: The Hunt for Skinwalker Ranch.
Wendigos of native American legend sound like something possible too.
Native Americans did a lot of drugs
Really great video, loved the Skeptic Theories section!
Finally a 411 video where the host isn't talking about David's mustache every 5 minutes. 😂
case #1 (McGrogin).

This isn’t true. Most hunters use “conservation” as a cop out. Nature does not need humans to keep animal populations in tact.
@@LuvFearlessly without hunters the deer population would explode exponentially and would bring massive amounts of disease to the population. Same goes for hogs.
That's true.
Why does America have so many hunters?

I've given my theory on invisible, fast, human sized slendermen before, I've since heard a couple similar stories under video titles such as "true creepy forest stories" or "missing 411"
Wendigos is what I think. I know to most that sounds childish and stupid but just because we haven't seen a creature like this doesn't mean they don't exist and something beyond our understanding is happening in the state parks and forests of the US. Something terrifying and nebulous.
Definitely glad you're covering this. I, personally, don't think this is talked about enough and I remember when I first heard about this I was freaked out. Still am. Good videos 👍🏽
