    Thank you again, have to say, you were great simplifying this. I made it and it turned out great, I needed it to be 11 tall by 10 wide finished, so, this really helped me figure it all out to fit the perfect gift into.

      Aren’t these perfect for gift giving? There’s so many different fabrics out there. For sports fans, princess fans, Disney, baby Yoda…lol anyways. These make great gift bags for those types of things. Not only is it a bag to put their gifts in but it can also be used on its own. I’m thinking of making some of these for Christmas this year. Quick and easy.

    I just ordered the pattern I love your video so good and so informative without overthinking and over talking through it was just great. I’m gonna do the same thing and I have the handmade leather tags but I think I’m just gonna punch the hole a little bit bigger in them and try to use my little rivets that I have I think that’ll work anyway I’ll give it a try. Thanks again nice job

    I am SO glad you “Over Explain” things for people like me who have to watch and re-watch videos to eventually Get It! Fantastic tutorial! If you are taking future ideas for tutorials I would love to see the Devon pouch by Sotak made and/or the Hello Pouch by Knot + Thread Design, if they would permit you to video them. Again.....Over explain until your heart is content. I’ll watch it every time! Thank You So Much!

      Oh yes I could do the Devon! I love that bag! Lol. I’ve never heard of the Hello Pouch. I’ll have to look into that one. I’m glad my over explaining is helping some of you. It helps me when someone else explains things that way too lol.

    Just found you and Sotak patterns recently and I’m so glad!! You explain things so we’ll and your zipper technique has totally been a game changer! I’m not a fan on installing zippers by some pattern directions! Your method is awesome. Cranked 5 of these out in a day and a half ( in between life happenings! ) the zipper used to be a big stumbling block for me but not anymore. Thank you so much!!

    Hi Ren! I am new to your channel and came across you and this pattern by chance. I like watching you sew because you take your time and show each detail as to what you are doing. I am somewhat new to sewing and am teaching myself so I appreciate videos like yours that takes it time and shows me how and why. I found that I love sewing tote bags, purses and small bags like the one you demonstrated the best. Thank you so much for the private lessons. HA! Take good care and be safe.

      Hello! I have been gone a while haven’t I? I don’t make bags as often as I used to. So it’s hard to make a video when I’m not making bags. Lol One if these days I’ll be back I’m sure. I am making cross stitch project bags. I suppose I could make a video on one of those. 🤔 maybe!

    thanks Ren, lovely set you have made, Hope kitty is better soon, just a thought, how about attaching a clear document sleeve to your table then you can just slip the details of the machine and pattern in and out, so you dont have to keep untaping it and retaping it

    What size is the one your making? If you don’t mind. I looked on Etsy and the description does give the dimensions, of all the bags, but it’s hard to tell, which one you’re doing. It looks kinda like the medium sized one or maybe the small. I like that size.
    I’m going to buy the pattern, but I’d like an idea of the sizes and it’s hard to tell on the video. Thanks

    Love this tutorial. You are a great instructor. I like your zipper method. I found a similar method but I like the way you just fold the tab back once and cut it off to make things less bulky. Very clever! I want to make zippered pouches to sell. I just purchased some horrible cork which will have to be returned. I like your idea of vinyl, cotton and waterproof canvas. Which weight of canvas did you use for the lining? I'm going to assume the lightest weight they sell, but I want to check first. Thanks so much!!

    • @renpuffinberger6664
      @renpuffinberger6664  2 роки тому

      Thank you. The zippers are much less bulky this way. Its the only way I do them now. I’m not a big cork fan. Maybe I just haven’t found the right kind yet. As for the weight of canvas, this is copied from the website where I buy it… 0.55mm Thickness, 600 x 600 Denier. I buy it from fabric wholesale direct.

    • @1955dmb
      @1955dmb 2 роки тому

      @@renpuffinberger6664 Thanks so much for the info. I went to the site but found 3 different thicknesses, so I was hoping you would reply!
      I like the concept of cork because like the vinyl, it should not have to be lined if you can find the right kind. It's hard to find in the US and I don't want to deal with international delays in ordering. So I am going to try vinyl since yours look very professional. Yes - love your zipper method. It doesn't take long and it will turn out everytime. Folding over ends or just trying to make them align without tabs is not an enjoyable method for me.
      I meticulously wrote the steps from your video and am going to order everything and practice with some lined denim and play around with some sizes. Looking forward to it! Thanks again!

    Great tutorial, seasoned sewer here, Love that you are demonstrating this in the du1181n, best machine ever. QA: are you using industrial thread or regular thread? What size needle did you use for the project? Subscribed to your channel, was looking to gift this bag to a friend, and most the tutorials out there made it complex, you simplified this, Thank you!!

    • @renpuffinberger6664
      @renpuffinberger6664  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you and I agree. This machine is a beast. I love it and don’t regret purchasing it at all. I am using industrial thread and I think the needle size is a 19. Sorry for not replying right away. I’m glad to hear everything worked out for you.

    Lovely tutorial, thank you. Do you cut out the pieces with scissors or a rotary cutter? Any advice for neat cutting out?

    • @renpuffinberger6664
      @renpuffinberger6664  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I trace my pattern onto the wrong side of my fabric then use a rotary cutting and ruler to keep the straight lines nice and straight. I go very slowly with the rotary cutter around any corners.

  • @Melissa-sews

    Really cute set Ren!!!!! I have a question. Why do you not sew through the zipper tab when putting on the zipper but you do sew through it when you top stitch? Does it lay better or something?

    • @renpuffinberger6664
      @renpuffinberger6664  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it does lay better. I learned that trick from someone else online and since doing it that way my tabs and top stitching looks much better.

  • @lynetterene
    @lynetterene 3 роки тому

    Okay, now I have two questions: what made you use waterproof canvas? Can I use a "regular " zipper?

    • @renpuffinberger6664
      @renpuffinberger6664  3 роки тому

      Well I’ve been using waterproof canvas for a while now. By using it, I don’t have to cut out my fabric PLUS interfacing. Then I don’t have to iron the interfacing onto my fabric. It saves me money and time in the end. Definitely worth it in y opinion. Yes you can use a regular zipper. Tu at have to trim some off if it isn’t the right size. Also be aware of metal zippers. You don’t want to hit one of those teeth with your needle. Not cool 😳😎 lol.
