True, but the vocals are so good that it's easy to forget (at least for me) all the exceptional detail Kanami & co. wrote in to support that vocal line. Nice video accompaniment too -- thx!
This song is great but being able to listen without vocals allows the listener to be able to hear the amazing music that is easy to miss. I love this thanks for the hard work.
Beautiful song that I've been addicted to for the past week. Watching the samurai wander around makes me feel like I'm wandering around inside Kanami's mental soundscape. It would be interesting to hear the isolated vocals for the song also; Saiki's tone in the song is so dynamic and variable, and the harmonies with Miku so touching.
What I like about this song is how the instruments are building the soundscape, but it's Saiki's lead and Miku's harmony that are the main driver of the song.
BTW. when I loaded the songs into an audio program for vocal splitting, I noticed that compression, which is there, was done so well that it didn't flatten the individual instruments. Well done ladies.
Saiki's vocals are fantastic, but I'm so so glad you've isolated the instrumentals here. They are perfect backup for the vocals and contain SO MUCH. It's instructive to listen to them on their own. Minus the vocals many of the chords seem incomplete, meaning that the parts were written to complete each other with the vocal track. Akane's drums are perfection, hitting just the right intensity for each section. The MIDI effects are a complete surprise, adding astonishing atmosphere. Kamani's guitar shows so much emotion packed into so few bars. She's very "Steve Vai" on this "one." The arrangement is a masterwork. Oh to be a fly on the wall as they traded MIDI files back and forth! If 'Epic Narratives isn't noted for hits, it should be noted as a benchmark of Band-Maid's maturity as record producers. "The one" is a definitive masterpiece of the art of record production. I still want to see them perform this live, to see what they play live, and hear what they place on the backing track. "The one" sounds more impressive each and every time I listen to it.
Thank you for this. I understand so many more elements of this wonderful song now. For me “The One” is all-time Top 10 Band-Maid. It’s just incredible.
Honestly with vocals this song is so much better.
Yes, but I liked this instrumental paired with this video.
Saiki's vocals are even more amazing than usual on this song.

No matter where I go in Japan, no matter what I find, I always come back home to them.

The vocal is absolutely CHARM POINT of the song
This is the best song on the album
I still can't decide which is my favorite, but this one is definitely in the running, po.
The album is so good I can't pick a favourite.
I very much agree !

Agreed. The vocals make this song even better.
Mood music for a movie montage. Add Saiki's vocal artistry and it becomes something stirring.
This has become my favorite song from this album.

The album is way up there on my favourites of all time. Which coincidently contains 2 other Band-Maid albums - Just Bring It and Conqueror.
Thank you for this. I understand so many more elements of this wonderful song now. For me “The One” is all-time Top 10 Band-Maid. It’s just incredible.
