This is one of your best videos (in my opinion!) In the original booktube, there is a question regarding 'What can you bring to booktube?" After regularly watching your channel for a few years, I can tell you what YOU bring is an immense likability factor combined with a mellow/chill vibe. Sometimes your book choices are out of my realm, but your demeanor & description has more than once caused me to give them a try with enjoyable results. That is especially true for poetry and your poetry videos, in which your reading is excellent. The qualities you mentioned that you enjoy in other peoples' videos are exactly what you project in your own, Finally, it brings me a smile to hear that you are a bit of a goofball off cam! Thanks for all the work over the years. You (and other booktubers) have brought joy to this old man! ❤

Thank you for this -- it's very, very kind of you to say all of that. ☺

Ah yes, Alice Oswald - brilliant. I'm a big fan of Lynette Roberts & Jo Shapcott also. Think I might do a video on Shapcott soon. I must track down 'Poetry Thursday', & watch a lot more of this. I didn't realise it was a movement.

Thanks for deciding to do Newbie V.2 video. It’s great to hear more about your reading and background. Also, as a newbie myself, it is giving me a lot of help.
I’ve added a couple of books to my list to read from some of the ones you spoke about. I am intrigued and excited to read Alice Oswald, a poet I am not familiar with. I think I might start with Woods, etc. Then, also “The Last Wolf & Herman” by Lászlo Krasznahorkai looks fascinating. I have some Hungarian background but don’t think I ‘ve ever read a book by a Hungarian.
Lastly, I have a suggestion for a travel related book. One of my favourites that I read many years ago and still stays with me is Paul Bowles’ “The Stories of Paul Bowles”
I don’t read much fantasy. I suppose perhaps because in some way travel to me as like fantasy but also so much more. Why people travel, the feeling of awe and otherness and strangeness or conversely suddenly feeling an inexplicable sense of connection, the interplay between tourism and locals, etc etc. I’ve just received “Travels: Collected Writings: 1950 - 1993” by Paul Bowles which I gather is more in line with a travelogue rather than fiction, but I’m sure true to his writing it’s anything but typical travelogue, although I do enjoy those as well.

Thank you, Sylvia! I'm glad you found it helpful. And thank you for the recommendation. I'll be keeping a mental note of Paul Bowles, just in case I run across one of his books out in the wild!

Tantalizing comment about the dancing- will you ever expand on that Aaron? 😉 joining in readalongs and events and commenting is definitely a good way to make friends, that and buddy reads, if you told me years ago I could be friends with people I’ve never met I’d have scoffed!

Well, I certainly won't be doing any dancing in my videos, but we'll see if I get around to talking about it a little more in the future!

Really liked hearing these answers and seeing you list some reading interests. That edition of Brothers Karamazov is really pretty! I'll be curious to hear how the translation is when you get to it!

Thank you, Courtney. I'm sure I'll be very excited about Brothers Karamazov when I get to it, so I'll try do my best to talk about it and retain some semblance of sense!

Great video. I'm a relatively new subscriber so it's great to get to know you better. You read a lot of books I'm not familiar with so I like that it piques my interest to broaden my reading experience and that's a positive thing. Go well.

Thank you, Nathan! I've had similar experiences with other channels on booktube. It's a wonderful way to discover new things (or to make a decision about what not to read!) I hope you have a great rest of your week.

Hello! Cold and yucky weather my way, too. I don’t like it. 😂 Is that an adorable little piggy in red rain boots in the background! 🤗 That I love! Me, too, I love reading something that I’ve read that someone else loved, as well. I don’t mind editing, I don’t like typing out video descriptions and links.

Yes it is! I find it very funny, so I've tried to put it somewhere where it will catch my eye! 😊🐖

Like the reboot and I wouldn’t mind at all if you just occasionally did another poetry whether Thursday or not- just as your were inspired.

Thank you, Kristin! That's a good call - I've failed to make poetry videos a few times just because I've forgotten which poem I'd like to read by the time Thursday rolls around! 😄

Chatty videos are my favorite ☺️
Your answers were thoughtful and honest - you made me giggle a few times!
I’m right there with you on being more exact in what I am saying. A brevity of words. Simply what is necessary.🙊
Can not wait to hear your thoughts on the new BK translation!
I’m going with Billy Elliot-esque for my ‘dance’ mental picture

Thank you, Deea! It's always nice to hear when I've made someone giggle! Your comment gave me a flashback of me attempting the Billy Elliot jump thingy as a kid. I'm really surprised I didn't fall on my face more often!
