Oh also I wanted to point out something a little cool, in Korean lore, a little blue bird is a representation of a high ranking military official who has been lost at war. So the lines in this song are basically kind of saying they can hear the whispers of a fallen war hero who the enemy thought they silenced. But the message, the movement, they started is actually echoing deeply in the hearts of those continuing the fight.

As you like fantasy and stories, ATEEZ wont disappoint you! While their storyline is purely fictional and mostly in scifi & fantasy style, they touch upon so many things that affect people in the real world and give a voice of those very real issues and feelings.
To give you a very short-ish summary (so some spoilers ahead):
-ATEEZ' has been telling this story since their debut 2018, it is part of 99% music, MV's, live stages, concerts, note booklets on physical albums, even reality shows!
-In the story, there are 2 universes (that we know of at the moment)
-The universe A is where the ATEEZ members live as regular humans coming together as a friend group who share a love for music and dance while dealing with their own real-life problems.
-Then there's the universe Z, where a totalitarian government sees human emotions as a decease and therefore has banned all art forms while brainwashing people who live without feelings. ATEEZ of universe Z are part of a resistance group called Black Pirates who try to overthrow the government. They use music as their "weapon" trying to wake up people and get them to _feel_ again.
-And there's a device they can use to travel between these universes.
-Halazia is telling the story from the universe Z. The word *Hala* is a reference to their earlier song "Hala Hala (Hearts Awakened, Live Alive)" where we first meet the Black Pirates aka Halateez, as we call the universe Z version of ATEEZ. And *zia* seems to be originally from Latin, meaning "light" or "splendor". So it's Hala+Zia.
Also all ATEEZ' are amazing dancers and especially performers, you should definitely watch a live version of Halazia! Tho from the 3 people you thought were the main dancers only 1 is, but they don't really have that clearly defined roles as some groups do, especially not nowadays.
Much strength to you in a tough situation and take all the time you need for yourself and your loved ones!

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. ❤
ATEEZ stands for A to Z as in they have it all, so the first syllable is pronounced like the letter name A + tease. Their storyline involves 2 universes: A and Z. In universe A they're a modern take on pirates (treasure-seekers). In universe Z, their alter-egos, the Halateez (often portrayed in black clothes and fedoras), live in a dystopian world where they are fighting against their government which has banned all forms of art and anything that invokes emotion because they know emotionless people are easier to control. They travel between universes with a special hourglass called the Cromer. They've released 3 album series Treasure, Fever, and The World. The World is the most recent series and is based in universe Z.
This song is from the album Spin Off: From the Witness and is the story from the people's perspective. The words Halateez and Halazia both come from an acronym in one of ATEEZ's early songs, Hala Hala, which means Hearts Awakened Live Alive. Zia means light or splendor. So Halazia is what the people are calling those they hope will lead them from an emotionless world and take them to the light--a place of splendor where they can feel again. BTW, the scarecrow is a representation of the Halateez who had been working against their government but disappeared. In their absence, the people have almost elevated them to the level of God's and are praying for them to return. ATEEZ does an excellent job of writing lyrics that fit their story, but have a lot of real world applications. I'm happy to hear it was comforting for you.
ATEEZ does have three main dancers, but only one was in the dance sequence you liked (Wooyoung with the red hair). The other 2 are their lead vocal San wearing white (well-known for his incredible performances--he's also the one pulling the ball down) and Jongho, in black, their main vocal (widely considered the best male vocalist in Kpop's 4th gen). This is why we say every member of ATEEZ could be a main dancer in another group. The other 2 main dancers are actually Yunho who was sitting in a giant broken hourglass and Mingi, the rapper with orange hair. I highly recommend the MBC Performance dance practice--they don't play.
Here's a list of the videos I recommend for The World including storyline vids (because I really hope you'll react to them) :

I discovered Ateez 2.5 years ago when I was going through a really dark and scary time in my life. Their music has been a great comfort and cheer to me. I was blessed to be able to see them perform live TWICE last year - insane energy and humility! They are incredibly professional yet personal on stage. They made a room of thousands feel like an intimate gathering of valued friends. One of the songs that meant a lot to me during my season of pain, fear, and grieving is their song, "Sunrise". If you get a chance, could you please listen to it? I think it would be an encouragement to you during your current season. God bless and keep you, my friend.
Edited to add: For fun Ateez songs, I'd recommend checking out Wave, Say My Name, Wonderland, and Answer. Hala Hala is good too, but a little dark.

It's my first time seeing you, but I really loved watching the whole thing. Tho Ateez have a deep lore going on in their MVs and you didn't had any knowledge about that, I believe one of the most beautiful thing about art is that it's always free for interpretation, your thoughts added a new perspective to it. If you want to know more about their lore, I suggest watching their trailers and Atinys (their fandom) have whole videos explaining their diaries (Like a sort of chapters in the form of booklet in their albums where we read about their storyline).
If you want to know more about them as a group & individuals, I suggest the ultimate guide to Ateez 2023. It's a lil' long, but it's the best out there, you won't feel bored too.
Also, they're pronounce as A-TEEZ, similar to ATEis or 80s. Thanks for checking them out, hope you continue! ❤

Also, I watch different youtubers/professionals reactions to hear their thoughts on the video, the music, the dances, etc. separately but what's great about yours was that your feedback was a mix of these things and not necessarily just one focus.

BTS are my absolute favourite band and always will be but I have to say Ateez are definitely a very close second, they are versatile and passionate, the way they perform is mesmerising and especially their facial expressions, no other group does facial expressions like Ateez. I'm sorry for your loss. This is my first time on your channel and I loved your insights about Halazia. Most of it is accurate. Ateez has a very extensive lore and it's quite complicated. They are fighting against a corrupted government which banned emotions and all form of expressions such as art, music, dancing. The government extracts emotions from people and they become those grey balls floating in the skin. The side effect is that gravity changed and thus destroyed buildings and prevented rain ( sand flowing backwards). Halazia mission is to take those balls down to give hope again. They succeeded in the end and the rain falls. That's just part of the story, each new comeback will give us more insights. It's quite complicated 😅

This just came up on my recommend. I’m not even 5 mins in and I had to comment! Within these first few minutes of the video you haven’t missed the story plot at all. I literally said out loud to myself “oh he gets it!”
You’re very good at what you do. Im so impressed already.
(I’ll probably be back to edit and add more comments)
Edit: not only do you get the sound of the bluebird at the end but one flies across the open space.
You nailed it. The song is about breaking a world free from oppression. They are in a dystopian world where the government has banned all emotion, creativity, art. They are fighting to bring back emotion to this world.
Their song Guerrilla is them first entering this world. It’s basically a preparation for war against this government.

Ateez have such an amazingly deep storyline and lore. I've seen some others in the comments here do really good jobs describing the basics. My personal recommendation if you choose to continue for the story is starting next with the Fever pt 1 Diary film and then watching the m/v for inception, and continue watching all the m/v's from the Fever series albums, then starting with the title track m/v's from the Treasure series albums, then going into the title track m/v's for The World album series. There's also usually teasers and trailers that show storyline, especially during The World series. Doing it in this order kind of tells the story in the proper order, because despite the Treasure series coming out first, Hongjoong, the captain of the group, has stated that the Fever series is actually the beginning of their story, and the pt 1 Diary film specifically really starts it off.

UA-cam recommended your channel because of this ATEEZ reaction. I'm glad it did! I'm so very sorry to hear about your brother. That is a pain that shouldn't be. Just ... shouldn't be.
Thank you for the reaction into Halazia! It's one of my very favorite songs from ATEEZ (though, honestly, they don't have a single song that I don't enjoy. Seriously. I have NEVER found a song of theirs that I don't enjoy, and that's a rare thing.) You have a pile of comments suggesting other videos and orders to see more of the lore of ATEEZ. Definitely recommend that. Some of my favorite videos (and/or) songs: Wonderland. Absolutely Wonderland. Deja Vu, Bouncy, Fireworks (I'm the One), Cyberpunk (no music video for that one, but you can see a live performance of it). I am DESPERATELY hoping that they will do a music video for Django off their new album. It's tied with Bouncy as my favorite song off that album, I just love it. I also saw that someone mentioned watching live performances as well. Definitely do that! The Wonderland Halloween one is spectacular, even though Jongho couldn't dance that performance because he'd been hurt. He was still on stage to sing and his understudy dancer took his place in the choreography. Cyberpunk, as I mentioned, oooooh, and Wonderland from Kingdom! WATCH THAT ONE!! They were just down in LA last weekend for KCon and were amazing, as usual, and boy howdy, I am just word vomiting all over you. I'm sorry. ATEEZ and Stray Kids are two of my absolute top favorite Kpop groups and I will happily list off favorite videos to try to convince people to watch them so I can have someone to gush at.
(oh, and one more side note... if you want to experience a truly spectacular and amazing deep voice... Not knocking Yeosang in any way at all... Check out Geoff Castelluci's channel. He does deep bass covers of songs. I usually recommend watching his cover of Oogie Boogie's Song with his group, VoicePlay, or his cover of Elvis Presley's Way Down or Over the Misty Mountains Cold from The Hobbit, both of those last two are on his personal channel. VERY highly recommended.)

First and foremost, my deepest condolences for the loss your family has suffered. I can't imagine the multitude of emotions and grief you all must be experiencing. I hope that whatever high power or presence you believe in will give extra comfort to you during this time of mourning. I'm glad you are trying to honor your emotions. Grief is pain that demands to be felt or it will consume everything. Please take your time in your process to grieve and heal as much as possible.
This is the first video of yours that I have seen. It was an interesting introduction to you as a content creator. Your formatting seems to be different from most other similar channels I've watched. I hope you will continue to grow more and more comfortable in finding your style and presentation. I appreciate your analysis of the imagery. If you are someone who loves fantasy, Ateez is definitely a great group to start off with.
Ateez has one of the richest and most consistent lores of any group I've watched or enjoyed. It does get a little bit complex in parts because it becomes almost multiverse level in some ways. Without spoiling too much, in case it's a journey you would like to continue, the over arching theme of Ateez is that they exist in a world (or universe might be more accurate) in which people have their emotions controlled. The ones in power literally have citizens wear ear pieces to inhibit emotional responses and brainwash the masses by saying the emotions, individuality, and expression are harmful and bad. I'm assuming you've seen/read enough stories pertaining to dystopian futures that are along these lines. Ateez members are rebels. They want to break the hold of oppressive systems. Their primary method for doing this is their music (which is actually kinda perfect because music does modulate brain activities in emotion processing areas like the limbic system). Many of their music videos explore this battle (wins and losses) and in some music videos you see how alternate times overlap while navigating how to overcome the systems of oppression. The music videos will link to each other and at the end of the music videos Ateez will often play a small musical snippet of the next comeback song. I think one of my favorite parts about this lore is that Ateez, in particular the Captain (i.e. leader) Hongjoong is very much involved with it.
To give a little info on Ateez:
Hongjoong is the Captain (Ateez is actually a pirate group technically so they use captain instead of leader). He primarily raps. He's the first rapper you see in this MV. Hongjoong is heavily involved in song production for Ateez. Despite primarily being a rapper, he actually does have a lovely singing voice. He is also an incredible performer (1/3 of the "demon line")
Seonghwa is the equivalent of a first mate. He's like a second leader to hongjoong. He is a quadruple threat between being able to rap, sing, dance, and act a visual for the group very well. Seonghwa is actually also a huge fantasy fan and also loves Sci- Fi. Hwa is (2/3 of the "demon line"). In this MV he's the one with silver hair infront of the scarecrow.
Yunho - He's an incredible dancer and has a beautiful voice. He's very much a sweet heart and basically the human equivalent of a golden retriever. I can't remember if he's the tallest or not, but being able to bend and move for as tall as he is is incredible to watch. He's a very sweet and shy human being. Extremely hard working and earnest. In this MV he's sitting in the hourglass/ cromer.
Mingi - He's the second rapper you seen in this music video with the powerful and aggressive sounding voice. Mingi has incredible duality in that he's an aggressive dancer but also has the nickname princess Mingi because he can be sweet and silly.
I'm out of time currently but I'll try to remember to come back and add more later :)

Sorry for you loss. Some good recommendations for more Ateez reviews if you would like .
Wonderland- great song and video not to mention popular so it will draw in many atiny.(the fandoms name)
Deja vu -it’s my favorite song and for a fantasy element they have a vampire version I recommend both
Inception - inception could be deemed a love song but it is such a refreshing take and I feel like it can be interpreted many ways. I like to think of it as a song less about love and more about that fine line between love and obsession
Turbulence- is a beautiful song and feels very hopeful and not many people review it so I think it’s a great one to review
Don’t stop- this one is my favorite music video it tells a clear and direct action/ heist story with some very cool shots

You got the meaning pretty well from how I understand it from my time learning about the group. In the group's lore human emotion is considered a disease to be eradicated. The guys in the group set out to use different methods to get people to feel again. You see it in Wonderland, Hala Hala, Guerilla, Halazia, and Bouncy (there are others, but those are some of the biggies). There's a wonderful wholesomeness that this band is actually helping a lot of us in real life get through some tough times.
I'm very sorry for your family's loss and I hope you can gain some comfort through us and your craft.❤

Hello! I really enjoyed your reaction to HALAZIA! Their videos recently have been very cinematic, which I love. I even have a special playlist because they are increasingly getting extra bits as well. If I may, here are some tips that I think will help you enjoy the production the most.
Firstly, here is my playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLrYtmC4av4LKsf7Thjn9nKRtsV4jAGx74.html&si=XICydC1wX5agW0xy
Because of what you have been dealing with lately (my condolences) I do not recommend watching the Fever Diary Film anytime soon, it leads into a different music video/chapter of the story, and you've seen HALAZIA. The Spin Off prologue and epilogue belong to HALAZIA.
ATEEZ albums have been in series, Treasure, Fever, and now World. The World videos are the most cinematic and the storyline is by far easier to follow in this part of their lore.
Starting with "Wake Up, the World," the next videos set up the music video for Guerrilla. I really recommend them. They call them trailers and teaser, but really they are short films and lead right into the Guerrilla video. Always watch an ATEEZ video all the way to the end, there's often a scene there.
Starting with the Outlaw teaser, the story picks up a bit after the end scene of the Guerrilla video. The next videos were 30-ish second teasers for the album tracks, but the videos continue the story and lead into the Bouncy music video. Be sure to also watch the one that says it's the Official Opening Sequence as well, because in the MV only has snippets of it.
Just watching the music videos is of course fine, but as a storyteller and filmmaker, I think you will really enjoy and appreciate the extra little episodes they have given us.
Another very cinematic video they've done is Don't Stop. It's quite a good video, but belongs to a different company. If you react to that one I recommend lots of stopping and commentary.

  • @BriBee1235
    @BriBee1235 9 місяців тому

Thank you for this thoughtful, thorough reaction! I really loved all the different elements that you analyzed! Idk if anyone told you this but some Atz MVs have prologue videos that provide additional context ( Halazia, Guerrilla, Bouncy and Inception have them) while at other times there will be a "teaser" end credit scene at the MV foreshadowing something. There are also "diary versions" of Ateez albums that come with a sort of novalized snippet of the storyline.
My condolences for the loss of your brother. May he rest in peace and may you and your family find hope and healing during this difficult time ❤

I recently became a fan of ATEEZ like 2 months ago, and I have to tell you they're awesome and they are my favorite group! The way they're music is so much different and unique then other K-pop groups. They have just like full-on lore in their songs that is quite confusing for me to understand still, lol (I just found out about that yesterday bc I'm dumb. I honestly didn't know that's what they're videos/songs were about 😭). Their personalities are just amazing, and they are extremely talented. First let me say I am sorry for your loss.
Second I am a huge Ateez fan and really enjoyed your reaction to this video. I think there is definitely a lot of religious imagery in this dance and video.
One thing I love about Ateez is so many of their performances feel like a 3 minute mini musical. I think watching their dance practices or the full cam stages really shows the visuals.
