actually we dont borrow 1 we borrow a number equal to the base of that number systemso inthis case the number is 2 in decimal so in binary it becomes 10 then subtracting 1 from 10 yields 1 as difference and we borrowed 1 times so we write 1 as borrow .hope it helps
