I couldn't find a video ANYWHERE of how to do the power steering pump on my 1993 cobra but this was probably the closest thing and it HELPED A TON!!! Thanks man
great video man, definitely helped me figure out how to use that puller haha, friend let me borrow his and i got home and had trouble figuring that out
hey did you replace this because the pump was shot or was a making a wineing noise when u turned, in that case did replacing the pump solve that problem.
I know this is old but my power steering pulley wobbles on my 97ford f250hd. I keep slipping belts on my truck. Did you find out that was the cause on yours?
older Fords are well known for that noise, changing the pump may fix that but I honestly don't know if it's the pump or gear box... I'm changing my pump now and if it gets rid of the noise I'll inform you on that
1995 Ford F-150 whiney power steering. 300 4.9 lt. Replace hydraulic lines, steering box, pulley, tensor pully, serpentine belt, and have tried 4 remanufactured power steering pumps. I bought a vacuum bleeder kit for my pump. Cannot get whining out of steering. I use type F atf per my manual. I am just trying to find someone with answers. Thanks for any reply.
Hey man, the Ford OBS power steering pumps are known to always have a whine, no matter what you do to fix it, unfortunately it’s just something that is really almost impossible to get rid of
@snookes85 I have figured out all my problems. I have the best mechanic I know planning to help me this coming Saturday. He said it'll be a lil work but we will get it. Oh yeah. The mechanic the one and only..... Your bro.. lol.
I have a 1987 F150 but the motor is a 302 out of a 1989 Mustang. I'm pretty sure the power steering pump is going bad...So my question is...do I buy a p/s pump for an 87 F150 or do I get a pump for an 89 Mustang?
Wow, I'm surprised at the hate you've received on your vid. I thought it was a good vid that didn't waste my time when you fast forwarded through some of the more mundane "removing simple things" parts. Also you didn't waste my time with things everyone should know, like using Teflon on high pressure connections, that rusty cars are going to have rusty parts that break, or how to actually use a socket wrench. Fricken haters, everybody's a critic.
I now have a leak after watching your video and changing-out my own power steering pump in my '94 F150 302 5.0 EFI Jasper Rebuild. You didn't mention anything about the teflon seal on the high-pressure line. Why? Why did you leave out this critical part of information?
Seriously?? "you didn't mention Teflon thread tape." I don't think this vid was made for guys that bought their first screw driver so they could do this procedure. Thread tape is a given.
Galen Fries Galen, you should do some research before you comment. Command37 isn't talking about Teflon tape. The pressure hose to the C11 pump on these F-series trucks require a Teflon washer that is removed and installed with a special tool. Obviously, you have not purchased your first screwdriver yet, otherwise you would know this. I agree with Command37 - the author of this video did not mention anything at all about the Teflon washer that is required. Anyone and everyone that follows this "How To" video will have power steering fluid all over their driveway. He should edit the video. He doesn't have to show it, just say that a Teflon washer is required, or something like that.
+Joseph Goeddeke i know this is a old comment and i agree with what you said, just wanted to throw in something. Every time i put in a new power steering pump i put it a new high pressure hose also, this hose moves up and down on a swivel with engine torque and by the time the new pump is needed the hose is on its way out also, the new hose will come with the Teflon o ring , no tool needed and they are cheap to replace, also almost no one uses a tool to put in the Teflon o ring, there are several tricks like warming up the Teflon seal with hot water and working it onto the old hose if you so desire.
As it turned out, I was reviewing pics of the job. THERE WAS A SHAVING INSIDE THE THREADS OF THE FITTING. A shavinf of the old teflon seal. I believe it was the cause of the leak.
@chrishoward113952 i could have txtd but my phone is so far away from me..lol...slim said it would be a J O B...you cando it..maybe with some extra hands to help ya..have a punchin bag ready for when it just dont go like its sposed too..
very soothing video. love that the steps are simple and your not obnoxious
Thanks, this is the best instruction on power steering pumps
Thank you for editing this to less than 20 minutes. you're my hero

was it difficult? I got the same damn problem on my truck now.
Thanks for the video. Great to see someone else go for it before you go for it yourself.
Awesome vid, just what I was looking for👍

Very good video thank you so much
Great video, very informative, easy to follow, and bs-free. Thanks!
Have you replaced the belt? Also wouldnt hurt to get a mechanics stethoscope those are wonderful for identifying whining bearing and pulleys.
Where would I find the power steering to Check levels and fill at on a 1989 Ford econo line 302v8?
Great Video Brother ~ MrSKSkill
If your replacement pump has already got a pulley on it, would it be easier to cut a wedge out of the old pulley to access the bolts ?
Disregard the above comment...but, is the pulley only held in place bu being PRESSED on ? My 96 Bronco has an allen head bolt in the center,
hey did you replace this because the pump was shot or was a making a wineing noise when u turned, in that case did replacing the pump solve that problem.
I never had a leak but someone mentioned that they had to use a Teflon washer.
did your pully wobble on the old pump? mine was, it made my belt come off. idk if i need a new pully too???
I know this is old but my power steering pulley wobbles on my 97ford f250hd. I keep slipping belts on my truck. Did you find out that was the cause on yours?
My 1990 F150 is leaking oil from the rear seal. You got a video on how to change that? Or know where o can find one?
Mint 👌🏻
thanks, jason. good info.

Very informative. I'll be using this video when I swap mine.

Galen Fries you can buy from aliababa best auto parts company click here autopartsford.webs.com/
I've replaced my P/S pump and I am still getting that damned whining noise, anyone have any ideas? I have a 91 F150 straight 6.

Sorry for the caps.Smart phone having dumb problem
@chrishoward113952richie is the one and only often imitated never duplicated..the mechanic...he will provide the know how when noone else knows how!!!
How long did it take to do everything?
it's been a few years so I don't remember exactly but with the proper tools I would say 2 hours would be plenty of time
the puller is being used backwards turn the big nut while holding bolt you will ruin the puller this way
jesus fuck idk how you did this without taking the fan shroud off
For me it's easier to remove ac compressor aside and take out the whole bracket with pump attached.

metric tools should not be used on an american made car, imperial spanners should always be used on american cars
No entiendo una mierda
what a cluttered up pile of crap engine bay....ford junk
