I truly don’t think people understand the resources that have to be mined and processed from the earth in order to create all of our electronics. All of that takes fuel. The metal and the plastic all has to be mined from the ground as does the fuel to power the mining equipment, most processing plants (even nuclear power requires the fuel to be mined and processed and bio generators are pretty limited), factories that make the products, and the transportation to ship those things to their destinations. There’s no getting around mining things out of the earth-even renewable energy requires metal, glass, and plastic (giant wind turbines, solar panels, and large storage batteries). One of the main things that would help the situation is for this next generation to help contribute to creating better ways of recycling and reusing our “garbage”.

the speech was bad because it basically said: we can't change anything because we are small and insignificant. china and latin america are changing the world. it completely forgets the influence that the uk, europe and the western world have on these countries. For example: in china, not a single electric car would drive today without us. we started it and they are following us, they are doing it even better and have entire fleets of electric buses in local public transport. they have long since overtaken us, even in the private car sector. the bottom line is: small countries have influence, europe has influence. if we take the first step, others will follow....

carbon does not change temperature. Any scientist worth his salt knows this.
One thing to correct you on; "fossil fuels" is a myth, or at least intentionally misleading. It was coined by Rockefeller to make oil and natural gas sound like they were rare/finite, when they are neither.
Can you elaborate on that? Because that kind of seems to suggest you think fossil fuels are not a finite resource - that oil is inexhaustible. Is that what you mean?

Exactly. The increase in CO2 is actually making the planet greener. That is why commercial food growers pump CO2 in to their greenhouses. It is plant food. More CO2=more plants=more CO2 absorbed by plants. Nature is more powerful than us.

A lot of good things in this speech, it probably didn't go far enough. IMO the woke brigade need to be humiliated by making them aware of their absolute stupidity. That includes our leadership and its current direction of steering the ship into the rocks. The course was changed around 1984 and all they have done since then is stoked the engines. As for the disbelievers, if you are able to enter the relevant data into a computer, see what it predicts. You will be shocked. Poverty unemployment and starvation. I've made this argument many times, where poor countries can't be told what to do because the western civilizations who used CO2 to build their countries up over the last 150 years shouldn't be telling these developing nations what to do. This also includes natural resources like forests...etc

We need to start offering ideas and solutions...affordable ideas and solutions.

we live around a variable star. Satellite data on the suns output matches the temperature changes on earth. Co2 has little to do with climate change. As far as I know we can't do a thing about the sun.
